True Love Never Dies

Jana’s POV.
I was in my office looking at the papers for the new foundation of the school i wanted to build in the city. Everything looked great but the only problem was money. I needed more money to hold up the new school. I figured with the books i wrote and sold, it would be enough but it wasn't. So after looking this foundation, i knew what my next goal was. I looked at the clock and it lunch time with Shaun’s mom already. I quickly made my way over to the restaurant. It was the most fanciest restaurant i went to. Mrs. Song knew how to pick them. When i walked inside, i see Shaun’s mom sitting there looking at the menu. I took a seat in front of her and we ordered our food. After that, we sat there talking. She had a lot to say about Shaun.

Miyoung says as she sits across from Jana, “i'm glad that you could make it because i have something i want to say to you Jana.”

“What is it that you wanted to tell me ma’am?” Jana asks curiously not knowing what Miyoung wants.

“I want you to stop dating my son, Shaun. I don't want you to marry him.” Miyoung says confidently.

Jana says, “i just want to know why you don't want us to be together.”

Miyoung says, “i want my sons to date someone whose in the same class as us and of the same religion too.”

“Does that all matter when it comes to love, Mrs. Song?” Jana asks wanting to know her answer.

“Of course it matters. It will bring them happiness into their lives.” Miyoung says.

Jana says, “and what if i don't break it off with your son?” Jana asks.

Miyoung says, “if you don't, your dreams of building your own school will be gone. That grant you want for the school will be revoked.”

“How did you…………………….you know about that?” Jana asks in shock.

“Your profile is outstanding, isn't it? You dare open up your own school at a time like this? Maybe you should think straight before doing it.” Miyoung asks & says with a defeated look on her face.

Jana says calmly, “i want Shaun to be happy and i'm half the source of his happiness. But if it's this deal keeping us from being together then i’ll break up with him.”

Jana continues to say, “please promise me that you’ll find a great girl for him. Find him someone that is going to be there for him always, smiles with him, and someone who supports what he does. He deserves it.”

“I can't ever make you happy, can i Mrs. Song? I can’t ever be the perfect daughter in law but i know i love your son very much and i wouldn't do anything to hurt him. I was raised better than that and you know it.” Jana says confidently.

“So please take this as a deal we can agree on”, Jana says.

I stood up from my seat and bowed politely. Then i walked away outside of the building. I wanted to cry and i did as i stood there. I see Andrew walking up to me and i quickly wiped my tears away with my sleeve. He questions me.

Andrew asks, “Jana? What are you doing here?”

Jana wipes her tears away & says, “i was on a lunch break.”

“With who?” Andrew asks as he notices everything about her.

I stayed silent and Andrew looked at me and kept on asking me.

“With who?” Andrew asks one more time with a higher tone in his voice.

Jana says, “Mrs. Song Miyoung, Shaun’s mom.”

Andrew gets frustrated & says, “i told you how many times not to go see her or talk to her even if she tells you to.”

“I know but she’s a much older person and Shaun’s mother. I have to go see her when she tells me to.” Jana explains & says.

“Sometimes you don't have to. I want to protect you from her Jana. i don't want you to get hurt by Mrs. Song’s words. She can be very mean to you.” Andrew explains.

Jana says, “everyone knows that and so do i. But i looked passed her mean words and moved on. She doesnt hurt me Andrew.”

Andrew says & stops at his sentence, “you think that but she will hurt you with her words and make you……”

“Make me what?” Jana asks as she interrupted Andrew.

“I don't want to say it”, Andrew says.

Jana asks, “make me break up with Shaun, right?”

Andrew realizes everything & asks, “how did you know i was going to say that? Did Mrs. Song ask you to?”

“I'm sorry, i have to get back to work. I’ll talk to you another time Andrew.” Jana says as she changes the subject & walks away.

I immediately walked away from Andrew to my car. As i went to my car, i saw Andrew standing there for a while and went inside of the building. I thought to myself and said ‘uh oh’ in my head. Andrew was going to go inside and talk to Mrs. Song about me. So i got out of the car and followed him inside. I stood behind the wall and listen to their conversation.

“Mrs. Song. i need to speak to you.” Andrew says going up to Miyoung at her table.

Miyoung takes out her hand & offers Andrew a seat, “please sit down and we can talk about this.”

Andrew says, “it's okay.”

“What did you say to Jana just now?” Andrew asks curiously.

“I see that you ran into her”, Miyoung says with her fierce eyes looking at Andrew.

Andrew says, “and she looked sad about it.”

Miyoung says in Korean, “we made a deal, that's all.”

I came out of the wall and went towards Andrew to pull him away outside. Andrew had a fierce look on his face that he was going to kill Miyoung or something. So i dragged Andrew all the way outside to talk to him.

“What deal is she talking about, Jana?” Andrew asks as looking at Jana.

“I'm not suppose to tell you, Andrew”, Jana says.

Andrew asks in his angry tone, “your not suppose to tell me? Or you can't tell me? Which is it?”

Jana explains in her frustration tone, “both. There's just so much going on. I can't tell you guys any of this. It’s between me and her. You have to understand that.”

“And you have to understand that we’re here for you no matter what happens. You should tell us these things, not keep it from us. We’re here to protect you if anything happens.” Andrew says trying to explain the situation.

“You shouldn't protect me anymore!” Jana says in frustration out loud in Korean.

Andrew says in his calm voice in Korean looking at Jana, “fine. Then we all know where you're going to end up Jana.”

I felt the frustration and anger in Andrew’s tone and see if on his face. He walked away from me. I stood there closing my eyes and trying not to take it all in but a tear dropped down my face instantly. I realized that i've lost a good friend right then. I went back to work trying not to think about it.
