Shaun’s POV.
Since i was already up early this morning, i thought i went to grab some lunch with Ryan, Ben, and Andrew at our spot downtown. I arrived just in time to see Ryan and Ben there sitting at the table where we always sat at. I sat down and didn't see Andrew so i asked..
Shaun asks Ben & Ryan as he sits down on the chair, “where's Andrew?”
Ben says, “he’s running a little late this morning.”
“That guy is always late so why are we not surprised”, Ryan says jokingly.
“Where’s Joon and Alex then?” Shaun asks not knowing anything.
Ryan says, “Joon had an early class so he couldn't make it. And Alex, we don't know.”
Ben says, “Alex is too busy for us so he never comes.”
Andrew speed walks to our table in rush and sat down.
“Sorry I’m late. I woke up a little late.” Andrew tries to explain himself.
“Bro, when are you early?” Shaun asks Andrew jokingly.
Andrew says, “sorry, I'm just not a morning person.”
Ben smiles & says in Korean, “let's just order food before we all lose it.”
We ordered food and sat there waiting and talked.
“Mom asked when your going to come back home”, Ryan says to Shaun.
“I'm not sure. I don't want to deal with her right now.” Shaun says in Korean.
“What happened between you two?” Andrew asks not knowing what's going on.
Ben explains the situation, “Mrs. Song doesn't want Shaun dating Jana let alone marry her.”
Andrew asks, “why?”
“Because of her religion and that she feels like Jana doesn't belong in our culture.” Ben continues to explain thoroughly.
“Religion? Culture?” Andrew asks nonstop.
Ryan says, “yeah. Our mom doesn't like the idea of her being a Buddhist.”
Andrew says, “and culture. Jana did learn how to speak, write, and read Korean in 3 months to communicate with us.”
“All of that shouldn't matter right? As long as you both love each other is all that matters.” Andrew continues to says wisely.
Ryan says to Ben & Shaun, “the late guy does have a good point.”
Shaun sighs & asks, “why can't we all be happy no matter where we come from?”
“Because life doesn't give you happiness. You have to find it from those around you.” Andrew says with his wise words.
“Wow. Since when have you became so wise?” Ryan says & asks in shock.
Ben asks Andrew jokingly, “have you been going to the meetings lately?”
Andrew says in Korean, “shut up. I just learned a little from people that's all.”
“And Jana seems to be one of them”, Shaun smiles & says.
Everyone laughed happily and our food came out. After half an hour later, we were done eating breakfast together. The guys left while i went to go pay for the bill at the counter. As i was doing so, Andrew came over to talk to me.
“Hey”, Andrew says as he leans on the counter with his elbow.
Shaun looks over at Andrew & says, “what's up?”
Andrew asks as looking at Shaun, “are you sure you and your mom are okay?”
“We’ll be fine. We always find a way to solve everything. Besides, this isn't the first time we fought.” Shaun says as he signs his name on the signature line of the credit card receipt.
“Whatever you decide to do, we’re always here for you.” Andrew says with his wise words.
Shaun smiles & says in Korean, “i know.”
I grabbed the receipts and walked out of the restaurant with Andrew and met up with the guys. We went our separate ways and went to work.
