The Missing Piece

Narration ;
For the next month and a half, everything is going well for everyone. Jana finished teaching the Kindergarten class for that season and getting ready to work at the school. She hired teachers and enrolled more students into the school. Jana had found out that Mrs. Amelia Emeret Johnson had hired Bailee to be one of the art teachers at the all girls school and she was happy about it.

[September]
At the beginning of the month, Bailee moved back to LA with half of her things. She talked to her parents about it and moved back where she belonged. For Caroline, she broke up with Gary and began dating Darin. Darin is the guy she met in Vegas who lives in Malibu. They have been closer than ever and really likes each other. Jana didn't want to teach but to focus on managing the school for Amelia Johnson.

[December]
Christmas Time. It's the last month of the year.

Alex’s POV.
Since i spent the last few months in China, i thought i come back home to LA. I spent a lot of time with my aunts, uncle, and cousins while i was there. We got to go to many places around China where i haven't been to my entire life. While i was in my apartment, i got a call from Jana’s mom, Tammy.

Alex answers his phone, “hello?”

Tammy says over the phone, “Alex.”

“Hi, Mrs. Lily. how are you?” Alex says & asks.

“I’m very good. I wanted to invite you to my wedding that is happening in the middle of next month.” Tammy says.

Alex says, “thank you, but i don't think i should come.”

Tammy asks, “why won't you come?”

“Well, me and Jana are not on good terms now.” Alex says.

“I think she would happy that you're there, Alex.” Tammy admits.

Alex asks curiously, “is she doing well?”

Tammy smiles through the phone & says, “very well.”

“That's good for her.” Alex says.

“Anyways. I want you to come to the wedding.” Tammy says.

Alex smiles & says, “okay, i’ll be there in January.”

Tammy says, “good. I’ll send you the invitation soon.”

“Thank you. Bye.” Alex says.

“Bye Alex.” Tammy says.

Once i hung up the phone after talking to Jana’s mom, i heard the doors closed next door. I sense that Jana was going out so i took the time to put Jana’s Christmas present in her apartment. I took the blue bag gift and walked over to her apartment. I tried to be quiet as possible and put the gift underneath her light blue Christmas tree. Then i walked out of there and back to my apartment.

[December 25th]
Bailee’s POV.
So me and Caroline had spent the entire day looking for an apartment. We decided to live together because we are both old enough to live alone without our parents. The both of us envied Jana for moving out and living on her own so we wanted to do the same and gain our own privacy. And the entire day, we didn't find the right apartment yet. There were a lot of places that were open today despite it being Christmas day.

Payton’s POV.
Today was the Christmas party that me, Jana, Bailee, and Caroline had decided to throw. We didn't just want a normal party but also a dinner together. We invited all of our family members, close friends, and co-workers. Basically, everyone we knew. While me and Jana were preparing for the Christmas party/ dinner, we talked about Alex.

Payton asks, “is your family coming tonight?”

Jana says, “my mom, her boyfriend, my brother, and grandma are all coming tonight.”

“Is yours?” Jana asks back.

“Yeah. my mom, brother, and my little sister.” Payton says.

Jana says, “i still can't believe your little sister is already 16 years old. I remember when she was just a little shy girl in Elementary school.”

Payton says, “i know girl. She’s experiencing high school and getting ready for college soon.”

“Time flies so fast, doesn't it?” Jana asks.

“It definitely does.” Payton agrees.

Payton asks curiously, “have you heard from Alex lately?”

Jana says, “not since that day months ago.”

“How are you feeling now? Still missing him?” Payton asks.

“I miss him every single day. I really want to see him. I wish a miracle would happen any minute now.” Jana admits & says.

Payton says, “you’ll see him again when he comes back from China, Jana.”

Jana says, “i'm not even sure if he even wants to see me after what we talked about. He probably hates me by now.”

“Aww, don't say that Jana. I’m sure that he loves you a lot and wants to be back with you when he comes back.” Payton says encouraging Jana.

“And then i can tell him about Max and how its over between us.” Jana says.

Payton says, “then Alex will be happy that you two broke up.”

The both of us smiled at each other and continued on setting up the apartment. After a while later, Caroline and Bailee came to the apartment and helped. Bailee helped with the decorations and Caroline helped us move the furniture around. When Caroline was taking a break from moving the furniture, she was nosy and saw the christmas tree.

Caroline looks at the christmas tree & points out the light blue box sitting underneath the tree by saying, “Oh? What is this?”

As Caroline was holding up the box, me, Bailee, and Jana all stopped what we were doing and walked over to Caroline to see what she was talking about.

Bailee asks, “who is it from?”

“It doesn't say who it was from.” Caroline says as she looks for the name from top to bottom of the box.

“No to and from?” Payton asks.

Caroline says, “not even that.”

Jana asks, “didn't one of you girls bring it today?”

“Mine was here a couple of days ago.” Bailee says.

“Yeah. i brought the presents today and you saw me Jana.” Payton says.

Caroline says, “my presents are in my bag right now so no way it's mine.”

Jana asks, “then who is it from?”

“Why don't you open it and see what that person got you?” Payton asks.

“I can't just open it now when everyone isn't here yet.” Jana says.

Bailee says, “well, it is Christmas already.”

Jana asks, “should i open it?”

“We think you should.” Caroline says.

Jana opened up the box that had no name on it. Inside were another nice bracelet from Tiffany & Co. it was one of those simple beaded bracelets with a heart charm that embedded with the Tiffany & Co logo on it.

I can tell that Jana really liked it because she smiled brightly as soon she was saw it. Then her mood changed and realized something. So she put the box down onto the table and walked outside of her apartment towards next door which was Alex’s apartment. She knocked loudly on his door knowing that he was inside or something. Me, Bailee, and Caroline grabbed Jana’s keys and followed her outside to the hall.

Jana says as she knocks on Alex’s apartment door, “I know you're in there Alex! Open the door! I need to talk to you!”

Payton asks Jana, “what's going on Jana?”

“He’s back from China. Why else would that box be in my apartment? It wasn't from any of you neither from anyone i know who would give me that.” Jana says in frustration.

“You don't know that it was from him for sure Jana.” Caroline says.

Jana says, “then explain to me how it got there. My birthday present a couple of months was a bracelet from him and you guys. Now for christmas, he gave me another bracelet.”

Bailee says to Payton & Caroline, “she’s right. It wasn't just a coincidence. It maybe is from him and he might be back sooner than we think.”

“You're completely losing it. He’s not here and if he is, he will go to you again.” Payton says.

After i said that, Jana felt depressed again. We came towards her and comforted her. She felt a bit better and we continued to go inside to prepare for the party. Once everything was set up and food were cooked, we got dressed into something nice.

I took over the bathroom first. I wore this peach/ beige short dress with beaded beads, beige heels, and my hair in a messy elegant bun.

Then it was Jana’s turn. She wore this beautiful long tan long sleeve dress, with her hair braided half up, pretty heels.

Next was Bailee. She wore this elegant red long sleeve dress, hair curled down (loose waves), and red heels.

Lastly was Caroline’s turn. Of course, she didn't break away from her black color loving. So she wore a long sleeve black dress short enough to her knees, hair tied up in a ponytail after she curled it, black heels.

All of us looked so nice for the Christmas party/ dinner.
