The Missing Piece

[SUNDAY APRIL 9TH]
[10:00AM]
Bailee’s POV.
We all woke up that morning at Jana’s apartment. It was the day i officially to go home to Idaho. My flight was at 1PM and we wanted to eat some brunch before i leave. I woke up first and gotten ready. I wore this yellowish stripe t-shirt, skinny light jeans, and a brown long hoodies coat, white slip on vans.

I woke up early to pack up my things and ready to go. Then it was Jana’s turn. She wore a rolled up blue jean collar shirt, skinny black jeans, brown flats, pink watch.

She had gotten up early to clean up her apartment. After that was Caroline’s turn to get ready. She wore a light brown long sleeve knitted shirt, dark blue skinny jeans, brown knee boots.

Lastly, it was Payton’s turn. She wore a white muscle tee crop top, pattern style shorts, dark grey knitted long cardigan, with a pair of ankle boots.

After getting ready, all of us headed downstairs to the garage to head out for brunch. We ate at this American place that sells like sandwiches and salads. We just spent some time together, for the last time together.

Once we were done eating, Jana drove us to the airport. We parked the car in the parking structure and headed up to check in. As we got towards the security gate, we hugged together one last time and i walked inside.

Payton’s POV.
We said goodbye to Bailee at the airport and now we are heading back to Jana’s apartment to get my car. Before doing that, we dropped Caroline at her house. After dropping me off at Jana’s apartment parking garage to get my car, Jana had something to do so she left me there. I took this chance to talk to Alex about Jana. I wanted to help them get together or solve their problems with each other. So i took the elevator upstairs to Alex’s apartment. I ranged the doorbell and he came to open the door.

Alex opens the door, sees Payton there, and asks, “Payton? What are you still doing here? Didn't Jana take you home?”

Payton says, “I left my car in the garage and i came to get it. I figured i talk to you about something.”

“About what?” Alex asks.

“Can i come inside?” Payton asks.

Alex says, “sure.”

I walked into his apartment and stood there in his living room talking to him.

Alex asks, “so what did you want to talk about?”

“It's about Jana.” Payton says.

“What about her?” Alex asks curiously.

Payton says, “she’s thinking about taking the job in England at that all girls school.”

Alex says, “yeah, to marry Max and start a family with him.”

“Start a family? That's not even close to why she’s going to England.” Payton asks & says.

“That's not why she’s going to England?” Alex asks in confusion.

Payton says, “no. she’s going to break up with Max and start her life over again by working in London at the all girls school.”

Payton continues to ask, “haven't she told you anything about the job offer?”

Alex says, “she has, last night.”

“And what did you say to her?” Payton asks.

“I said that she should go to London because she deserved.” Alex says.

Payton says in disappointment, “you're an idiot, you know that?”

Alex asks, “was it something i said?”

“Why would you let her go like that?” Payton asks.

“She has to go follow her passion.” Alex says.

Payton says, “you're really clueless.”

Alex asks, “what? why?”

“She wants you to tell her not to leave so that she could stay here with you and keep her current job. She is falling in love with you, you idiot.” Payton frustratedly explains.

“She has never felt that way for me before. She sees me like a brother.” Alex says.

Payton says & asks, “she said that you care about her more than her parents had cared for her entire life. She loves you and you love her. Why can't you two be together?”

Alex admits, “because i'm leaving.”

“Leaving? Where are you going?” Payton continues to ask.

“I'm going to China for 5 months to visit my family there and i won't be back until January.” Alex explains.

Payton asks, “why would you do that to her?”

Alex says, “i thought she was happy with everything that was going on in her life and that she didn't need me anymore.”

“She really needs you, Alex.” Payton admits.

“I messed up once again.” Alex admits his mistake.

Caroline’s POV.
When was walking into my house, i looked through my bag for my cell phone and i realized that i had forgotten it at Jana’s house. So i used my house phone to call my cell phone with Jana picking it up.

Jana picks up Caroline’s phone from her bag, “hello?”

Caroline says over the phone, “Jana. you have my phone right?”

“Yeah. you must've dropped it in my car when you got off earlier.” Jana says.

“Can you keep it there for me?” Caroline asks.

Jana says, “i was going to drop it off for you at your house after i clean my classroom.”

Caroline says, “it's alright. I'm heading there right now to pick it up. I need my phone for work.”

“You still know where my classroom is at?” Jana asks.

“Yeah. i remember from last time.” Caroline says.

Jana says, “okay, i’ll be here waiting then.”

Caroline says, “see you there.”

Jana’s POV.
While i was cleaning up my classroom and getting ready for class tomorrow, Max came into the classroom to talk to me. I had already knew where this was going.

Max says, “hey.”

Jana looks up at Max & says, “hey.”

“Where have you been? I've been calling and texting you.” Max asks & says.

“I just got back from my vaca with the girls and i have been busy with getting back to school.” Jana says continuing on cleaning up.

Max says, “i was busy too and i still had time to contact you. Yet, you haven't answered any of my calls or text messages.”

Jana says, “i just got back from traveling and i need time to rest.”

“What is really going on, Jana? Is this about me asking you to marry me?” Max asks he looks at Jana worryingly.

“i've just got a lot on my mind.” Jana says while fussing around cleaning up.

Max stops Jana from working & says, “Jana. stop and talk to me properly. Something has to be wrong because you haven't talked to me since you left. We have never been apart from each other.”

Jana stops cleaning & stands there looking at him asking seriously, “do you love me, Max?”

“Of course, i love you Jana. What makes you think i don't love you?” Max sincerely says & asks curiously.

“I just feel like you love your job more than me, your girlfriend.” Jana admits.

Max says, “you know that i love both you and my job equally.”

Jana says, “matter of fact, i don't know that.”

“Where is this all coming from? Alex? Your girlfriends?” Max asks in speculations.

“Oh my gosh. I can't believe you just ask me that.” Jana says as she becomes upset with him.

I felt like i was going to go into mental breakdown mode because he suspects that from the people close to me and that they would do that.

Jana says, “you know. Alex has been great to me unlike you, you don't even care. My girlfriends have been there for me since day one.”

Max says in jealousy, “well, maybe you should marry them instead of me.”

“Maybe i should.” Jana says in her upset tone.

I sighed out loud and began to say…

“It looks like we can't get along with each other anymore. Let's call it quits.” Jana says trying not to cry.

Max asks, “we’re breaking up?”

I pulled out the engagement ring that Max had gave me on my finger and put it on the table in front of him.

Jana says, “i can't do this anymore, Max. i thought about it long and hard while i was in Vegas.”

Jana continues to say, “i don't think i can be happy this way. I love you and all but sometimes i feel like we don't have that spark anymore. I want to be able to live a life happily with someone who cares for me, not because of what i have.”

“You love him (Alex), don't you?” Max asks.

“I do, but i'm not sure if he still feels the same way. But you know what, that's the last thing on my mind. Right now, i'm focusing on my career.” Jana says & admits.

Max apologizes, “i'm really sorry Jana if i didn't make you happy all this time. I was caught up with my job and where it took me.”

Jana says, “i know, you really didn't mean it but i'm glad you made it this far into your career. I've been there with you since the very beginning and now, i have to end it here.”

“Find someone who can continue this career journey with you in London if you ever take the job.” Jana encourages Max saying.

“I hope you find someone too and good luck with everything you're doing, Jana.” Max says.

Jana says, “thank you Max.”

Max says, “goodbye, Jana.”

“Bye Max.” Jana says.

Max had left the classroom with the ring. Little did i know, Caroline was waiting outside of the classroom listening to everything. When Max left, Caroline came into the room comforting me.

Caroline says as she walks into the room, “hey.”

Jana looks up at Caroline & says, “you're here.”

“You have my phone?” Caroline asks.

I went into my bag and got the phone to give to Caroline. She held onto her cellphone and i had already knew what she was going to say or ask me.

“You heard me and Max talk just now, didn't you?” Jana asks.

Caroline says & asks, “yeah. Are you alright Jana?”

Jana nods her head & says, “yeah, i'm fine.”

“You sure?” Caroline asks once again.

“I'm glad i did that. He deserves better and so do i.” Jana says.

Caroline says, “that's good. I have to get going now.”

Jana smiles & says, “okay. Have a safe drive back.”

“Thanks. See you later Jana.” Caroline says.

“Bye.” Jana says.

Caroline had left the classroom with her phone. I was at ease about everything. As i finished up the classroom and setting up class for tomorrow, Mr. Thomas Johnson came into the room with i believe his wife, Mrs. Amelia Emeret Johnson.

Mr. Thomas Johnson says to Jana as he walks into the classroom, “Miss Jana Lily.”

Jana looks up, stops what she’s doing & gave him him her full attention, “Mr. Thomas Johnson.”

“I want you to meet someone very special to me. This is my wife, Amelia Emeret Johnson. She owns Abraham Academy, the all girls school in England.” Mr. Thomas Johnson introduces Jana to his wife.

“It's so nice to finally meet you in person, Mrs. Amelia Emeret Johnson.” Jana says to Amelia.

Mr. Thomas Johnson says to Jana & Amelia, “i’ll step out and let you two talk.”

Mr. Thomas Johnson stepped outside for us to talk.

Mrs. Amelia Emeret Johnson says, “I'm here to speak to you about that job offer.”

Jana says, “i won't be able to take it.”

“I figured you didn't want since you are waiting now to tell me your decision. I actually want to offer you another job that doesn't require you to move anywhere.” Mrs. Amelia Emeret Johnson explains.

“I'm not sure where you're going with this.” Jana says in slight confusion.

Mrs. Amelia Emeret Johnson explains furthermore, “we are in the final stages of opening up our second branch here in LA. The school is already done building. All we need are staff members. As you know, i manage the all girls school in London so i won't be able to have time to go back and forth to look after the school here. So this is why i need someone to teach and look out for the school for me. What do you say Miss Lily? Will you help me out?”

Jana asks, “you want me to be the principal there and teach at the same time?”

“Yes. you can either be a teacher or a principal. You can do both or one if you like. It's really up to you.” Mrs. Amelia Emeret Johnson says.

Mrs. Amelia Emeret Johnson continues to say, “The all girls school will open in fall on Rodeo Drive, Melrose, in LA. Celebrities and non-celebrities will enroll their kids by the fall so there will be kids for the following season. From here until the school season begins, we need to find teachers.”

“I know that i couldn't work in London and i'm sorry. But i think working here at Abraham Academy will be good for me. So i accept your offer, Mrs. Amelia Emeret Johnson.” Jana says.

Mrs. Amelia Emeret Johnson smiles & says, “very good then. If you have time right now, i want to show you the school.”

“Of course, i have time right now.” Jana smiles & says.

Me, Mrs. Amelia Emeret Johnson, and Mr. Thomas Johnson took a little field trip to the school. The school was amazingly built and i really felt like i belonged there. Everything was at where it was for me. I could see myself at the school working.
