The Missing Piece
Christmas Proposal.
[6:00PM]
Caroline’s POV.
All of our friends and family have arrived at Jana’s apartment for the party/ dinner. Both my dad and mom side of the family came and Darin came too, Jana’s family came, Bailee with her parents, brothers, and even Marcel was there, and Payton’s family as well. They looked so nice and elegant tonight. We saw a lot of fancy dresses and tuxedos. When everyone had arrived, they got a glass of champagne or a drink and Jana decided to make a toast in the living room.
Jana raises her glass of champagne & says, “first, I just wanted to say thank you for everyone who came tonight to join us for dinner. I know that everyone has their own families to celebrate with and you made the time to come here tonight.”
Jana says & cheers, “Cheers everyone.”
Everyone raise their glasses and cheers in the air. Then she continues to say…
Jana continues to say, “i am so lucky to have everyone in my life and i'm grateful for that. Christmas has always been my favorite holiday in the year and i wish for more miracles to happen. That is why i wanted to give Payton, who has been my best friend since freshman year of high school her Ultimate Christmas present.”
Jana says to Payton, “i want everyone here to witness this, Pay.”
We had no idea what Jana was saying. She smiled happily and walked towards the door like she was getting something. Then after 2 minutes, Jana came back with Kevin (Payton’s long distance boyfriend) behind her. Payton was in shock to see him in LA by himself. Kevin faces her and she asks not knowing what's going on.
Payton asks Kevin, “what are you doing here Kevin?”
Kevin smiles brightly in his English accent at Payton & says, “Merry Christmas, Payton.”
“Merry Christmas, Kevin.” Payton wishes back at him.
“Jana and I had a talk on the phone the other day and i told her how much i missed you. I wanted to come see you as soon as i could but something struck my mind during the time.” Kevin explains.
Kevin continues to say to Payton who is looking at him with total confusion, “you see. I love you Payton and i've always thought about you in England. I don't want to spend the rest of my life traveling back and forth just to spend time with you. I want to spend the rest of my life with you in one spot and that is no matter where we are, as long as we’re together, forever. I've asked your family for permission and i was hoping….”
Kevin kneels on one knee and proposed.
Kevin asks on one knee, “will you marry me Payton Newitt so that we could live happily forever together?”
Payton looked confused and started to put her eyes on everyone trying to find the answer. At this point, she didn't know what else to do. All of her family members were there and so were her friends. Then after a while, she made her decision and said..
Payton says happily, “Yes. of course.”
Kevin put the ring onto Payton’s finger and stood up to kiss her on the lips. It was the happiest we’ve seen her and with Kevin too. We knew it all along that she loved him and couldn't let him go. It was truly the best Christmas ever. Then everyone headed over to the dinner table to eat together. We all talked and caught up with each other.
Alex’s POV.
Christmas day and night were over. I spent the holiday in my apartment preparing for the new school semester for my students. I was sitting in my living room when i heard someone outside talking that sounded like Caroline and Jana. I stood by the door and listened to their conversation.
Caroline comes out to sit on the floor next to Jana & asks, “you okay?”
Jana smiles & says, “i'm just so grateful to have everyone in my life right now.”
“So you're repeating your speech again?” Caroline jokes trying to make Jana laugh.
“Ever since Alex left to China, i've been feeling lost. It's like my other half is missing.” Jana explains.
Caroline says, “that's because he is your other half. I mean, you guys do tell each other everything.”
Jana asks, “do you think he’ll ever come back to LA?”
“Of course he will. He has to come back for you no matter what happens.” Caroline says with encouraging words.
“And if you two end up together, the girl gang will support you.” Caroline continues to say.
Jana smiles & says, “thanks.”
I saw them hug through the peephole of my door. I felt so bad of lying to Jana that i didn't tell her i was back from China already. She was miserable and lost without me. I didn't know what to do so i made up my mind to attend her mom’s wedding next month.
