Chapter 4

I wake up to the murmur of voices and my face pressed into someone’s chest. “Is that an actual girl?” A voice asks. “I seriously thought he was gay! He never took interest in girls!” Another voice exclaims and Wonwoo huffs, throwing his leg over my hip. “You guys are loud.” He murmurs into my hair and I open my eyes to look around. Looking over my shoulder, I squeak a little, hiding my face in his chest again. “Leave them alone you guys.” I recognize Jihoon’s voice and the two boys that had been standing next to the bed grumble, leaving the room. “I don’t believe for a one second that you guys fucked. So why are you in Wonwoo’s bed, Yuki?” Jihoon’s tired voice asks. “Eve’s room was occupied.” I say, turning onto my back and staring at the curtains that were pushed to the side. “Occupied?” He asks, his mind not catching the meaning.
“A couple of girls were having sex.” Wonwoo groans, closing his eyes. Sitting up, I look around the room and spot my clothes from the night before laid out at the end of the bed. Slipping out of the bed, I swap my sweatpants for my shorts, not caring if the boys saw. Facing away from the door, I pull off my shirt just as Wonwoo opens his eyes. He blinks sleepily before his eyes widen and the dorm door bursts open. “You guys wouldn’t believe what I found at the end of my bed!” Jun exclaims but freezes in the doorway, staring at me. Spinning around, I quickly grab my uniform shirt, hastily buttoning it up. “I’m not going to jump to conclusions, but Eve’s roommates were fucking again, right?” Jun asks and I nod. “Good choice. Wonwoo’s the safest person to just sleep with. He’s too nice to make the first move.”
“Thank god for that.”
I sass and he rolls his eyes before tossing something purple at me. I snatch it from the air and see it’s a tube of bruise removal paste. “That’s my apology for last night.” Jun says and I stare at him. “If you’re not satisfied, you can hit me some more.” I huff and scoot farther back onto the bed to apply the paste. Jun moves farther into the room and spots something, reaching down and grabbing it from under a bed. “Wow, I didn’t expect Robin to be the kinky type.” He holds up the willow branch stained red with blood. “He uses this a lot.” Jun snickers and whips it through the air. I feel myself just barely flinch away and quickly finish dabbing the paste onto my bruises. “So what did you find at the end of your bed?” Jihoon prompts and Jun grins. “Whipped cream!” Confused, we stare at him. “I probably dropped it. One sec.” He searches around the bed he had sat on and reaches over the other side, coming up with an identical can to one I had last night. “Maybe the house elves are hinting at me to try food play?” He grins, shaking the can a little before taking off the top and putting some in his mouth. “Any volunteers? Wonwoo?” “Piss off.” Wonwoo grumbles, sitting up. “Yuki? Are you in here?” Eve’s voice echoes in the corridor before she appears in the doorway. “Damn okay, there was a party and I wasn’t invited.” She sighs and I shrug. “Well you were too busy fucking Arthur to notice.” Her cheeks are immediately pink and she looks at her feet. “How was it, by the way? Everything you’d thought it’d be?” “It was nice.” She replies shortly, eyeing Jihoon, Wonwoo and Jun. “Well then I guess I’d better get back to my dorm. Let’s go.”
I get up and pull Eve out to the common room and out to the castle. “So, how was he really?” “Really demanding. But his tongue was one-hundred percent sin. So it wasn’t bad. We talked for a while after it and decided we’d just stick to friends with benefits. I hope it’ll change but as long as I have a part of him, I’m fine with it.” We get to the entrance to my common room and she smiles. “Thanks for being worried about me. I’ll come to you if I want to talk about anything.” She skips off and I go to my room, washing up and changing. Checking the windows in the common room, I see that autumn had started. Rain was pounding the grass flat, outside the windows. Going to the Great Hall for a quick breakfast, I go down to the quidditch pitch. Hufflepuff was supposed to have a match against Slytherin the next Friday and I wanted to see the look on Arthur’s face when we won.
Today’s weather was the best for a challenging practice. Getting my broom from the shed, I cast a few water repelling charms before I’m on my broom and up in the skies. It’s a while later when I notice streaks of green and silver in the rain. The Slytherin team was practicing too. Coming to a stop, I watch as the three chasers practiced their formations with the quaffle flying between their hands. Catching movement in the corner of my eye, I spot the bludger just as it hurtles towards me. I knew which beater was behind that swing. Diving, I realize the bludger isn’t acting of its own accord. A charm. Fumbling for my wand in one hand, I cast dozens of spells, none of them working. Still fifteen feet from the ground, I feel it slam into my shoulder, knocking me off of my broom. Shrieks tear through the air and I grab the handle of my broom, refusing to let it break like I knew it would. Everything goes dark as I slam into the cold soaked sand.

“Yuki, Yuki, Yuki! Are you okay?” I wake up to Seokmin’s voice ringing in my ears. “She’s asleep, she can’t respond to you.” Hao replies. “If you boys don’t be quiet I’m going to send you out of the infirmary, understand?” Madam Pomfrey hisses and I hear the boys mumble their apologies. Starting to feel my fingers, I realize both of my hands are being held. Without thinking, my fingers twitch and the boy holding my right hand jumps. I was almost one-hundred percent sure that it was Vernon. “She moved!” The one holding my left hand just squeezed my fingers back. “Madam Pomfrey, she moved!” Vernon calls and I suck in a breath before forcing my eyes open.
I quickly slam them shut as my mind registers the pain coursing through my back and shoulders. “I know you’re in a lot of pain dear, but I need you to sit up and drink this potion. It will help.” Madam Pomfrey’s voice is soft and unyielding and I open my eyes. The boys are crowded around the bed, watching me with concern. Looking to my left, I find Wonwoo holding my hand. He smiles and reaches forward to help me sit up, much to my gasping breath. I take the cup from Madam Pomfrey’s hands and carefully tip it down my throat, almost gagging at the foul smell. “You’ll start feeling the potion in a couple of hours. Bed rest here until tomorrow morning. No buts either.”
She takes the cup from me and glides away, most likely to check on another student. I lay back down and stare at the boys as I try to ignore the pain. “What happened?” I ask, reaching up with my right hand to brush my hair out of my face. “We don’t really know. Ask Wonwoo.” Hao says and I look at Wonwoo, having forgotten that he was on the Slytherin quidditch team. “Arthur wanted us to practice in the rain to condition us for bad weather. We weren’t doing very well and I and the seeker, Changkyun, were taking a break. Then we saw you diving. We saw the yellow robes first and then the bludger on your ass. It made absolutely no sense that it was after just you and we saw you trying to get it to stop with your wand but then you gave up.” He takes a deep breath. “The bludger hit your shoulder and you fell off of your broom. It was terrifying. None of us were able to get our wands out fast enough before you hit the ground. Your broom is safe, by the way.” He gives me a small smile. “Thanks.” “Then we brought you up to the hospital wing, hoping you weren’t dead.” “Great.” I sigh, turning my gaze to the ceiling. “I don’t think anyone has told Eve yet. We figured we’d leave it to Arthur since they’re usually always together.” Jihoon pipes up and I nod. “Your roommates came in earlier when you were still passed out but left for lunch. They’ll probably come in later.” I nod again and the boys slowly excuse themselves, Wonwoo and to my surprise, Jun staying.
“Tell me honestly, was it Arthur?” Jun asks when he’s sure the boys are gone. “It was the bludger.” I sigh. “You know what I mean.” He snaps. “I don’t know. It was raining so hard and I was distracted by the bludger.” He crosses his arms. “Cuz if it was him, I’m going to beat his ass.” I roll my eyes and close them. “I’m going back to sleep. Wake me up if any food comes.” I listen to him stomp off. Relaxing, I slip into my dreams, half aware that I’m lying in an infirmary bed and that Wonwoo is still holding my hand. I don’t remember how long it was until I jolt awake, a gasp tearing from my lips.
Eyes flying open, my hand crushes Wonwoo’s, making him jolt awake from where he’s sitting. “What’s wrong?” He panics, getting to his feet to lean in and check my forehead. My first guess was the potion. Madam Pomfrey had said it’d start working in a couple of hours. “How long have I been asleep?” I ask between gasps of air. “Two.” He realizes what I’m saying and sits back down, scooting closer to the bed. “Does it hurt?” “It’s so painful that I want to die.” I choke out. I hated it when my back hurt. Because I always thought it was something worse than it really was. “Keep squeezing my hand until it doesn’t hurt.” Wonwoo gives me small smile and I gladly curl my fingers around his. The pain comes in waves for the first hour, and then in shorter bursts the second. “I’m going to go down and eat. It must be dinner by now. I think your roommates said they’d bring you some food from the kitchens in a bit, so don’t worry about food. I have to go take care of some stuff, okay?” Wonwoo says quickly and I nod. “That’s fine. Thank you for staying with me today.” He smiles. “Any time. See you later, okay?” I wave and he gets up, leaving.
Sitting up, I don’t feel any pain so I swing my legs over to the side of the bed, stuff my feet into some slippers and go to the washroom on the other side of the hospital wing. Slowly making my way back to my bed, I stop to look at my reflection in one of the many dark windows that lined the room. Someone had changed me into sweatpants and a white tank top and my skin shined with sweat. Just the memory of the pain sends a shudder through me. Continuing to shuffle, I grab the end of an empty bed when I feel the attack. Apparently the potion wasn’t done repairing my body. My breath leaves me as my body is wracked with pain, making me slam to my knees on the stone floor and cling onto the metal bar for dear life.
“Yuki!”
A voice echoes in the room and strong hands are pulling me to my feet. I grasp at anything to keep myself from falling, thanks to my Jell-O-like legs. He grunts as I grab his hair but doesn’t complain as he grabs the backs of my thighs, lifting me up to wrap my legs around his waist and he carries me the rest of the way to my bed. I immediately let go and struggle for air as my body shakes from the pain. “Is there anything I can do?” He asks, gently brushing my hair from my face and sitting down next to where I’m sprawled out. My muscles spasm and I reach out for his hand. I tug at it and he understands, kicking off his shoes and gently laying down next to me. He pulls me to his chest and silently starts to stroke my hair. “You’re okay. You’ll be okay.” He whispers, hugging me to him. I whimper, my mind crazed with pain. “I don’t think I’ll ever be okay.” I whisper back and feel him kiss my forehead. “Are we still talking about falling?” I don’t answer and he kisses my cheek. “You will be.” He sounded so determined, so sure that I’d be able to heal. “Maybe.”
