Marriage Is Happiness

[THURSDAY, 1AM]

I was tossing and turning in my bed. I couldn't sleep at all. The thing that my mom told me kept me up. I didn't know what mess i was getting myself into if i gotten married now. So i put on a jacket and walked to the playground park next to the apartment complex. There was a bench and i sat on it. After while later, a random guy came to sit next to me on the other end of the bench. It was Choi Daehyun. He couldn't also sleep so he took a walk there. I took a breathe out loud trying to take in everything. The guy next to me smiled as he heard me. Then he asks…

Daehyun (*asks) : long day ?
Yoori (*smiles & says) : there are longer days but today is the longest of them all.
Daehyun : well you're not alone today. I've had long days as well.
Yoori : sorry to hear that.
Daehyun : it happens.
Yoori (*asks) : do you sometimes feel like you're opinion doesn't matter to some people ?
Daehyun : i do feel that way sometimes.
Yoori : and you can't do anything about it.
Daehyun : right.
Yoori (*asks) : so why the long face ?
Daehyun : my parents are arranging marriage for me.
Yoori (*asks) : you don’t like that ?
Daehyun : no.
Yoori : it doesn't hurt to give it a try.
Daehyun (*asks) : aren't your parents telling you to get married as well ?
Daehyun : nevertheless, all parents.
Yoori : my mom is and i’m following orders really well.
Daehyun : you don’t want it too.
Daehyun (*asks) : why are you doing it ?
Yoori : i want to make her happy and i think my dad would love it if he was here.
Daehyun (*asks) : do you want to walk with me ?
Daehyun : i’ll walk you back to your apartment.
Yoori : okay.

We began to walk together passing by the trees and keeping each other company with our talks. I didn’t know who this guy was but he was so nice to talk to. He understood my feelings and i understood his very well. I felt like we were meant for each other through our late night talks. Then he asks…

Daehyun (*asks) : what happened to your dad ?
Yoori : my dad battled with cancer. He passed away when i was 10 years old.
Yoori : he was a brilliant, smart, and fun man. He was the dad i always wanted.
Yoori : no matter how busy he was with the land he owned, he always had time to spend with us.
Yoori : he loved his kids very much. Till this day, i can’t believe he’s gone.
Daehyun : i’m so sorry to hear that.
Yoori (*smiles & says) : don’t be.
Yoori (*asks) : what about you and your family ?
Daehyun : not to brag or anything but i came from a wealthy family.
Daehyun : my dad is a retired engineer and hotel owner in which he gave to me to own now.
Daehyun : my mom is a stay at home mom who used to be a nurse.
Daehyun : i have 4 siblings and i'm the second child.
Yoori : wow. That’s a lot of information.
Yoori (*asks jokingly) : are you sure you want to tell a total stranger like me this information ?
Daehyun : well, you told me about your dad. So now it’s my turn to tell my story.
Yoori (*smiles & says) : life takes you through many turns and routes you can never imagine.
Daehyun : well said.

They reached Yoori’s apartment complex and they stopped. She faces him and says…

Yoori : we’ve talked for 2 hours out here. I didn’t catch your name.
Daehyun : you can call me Dae.
Yoori : well, it’s nice to meet you. You can call me Yoo.
Daehyun (*asks) : will we see each other again ?
Yoori : i hope so.
Yoori : this is me.
Daehyun : right.
Yoori : goodnight Dae.
Daehyun : good night Yoo.

We smiled at each other and I walked back into the apartment. As soon as i left into the building, i turned back and he was already gone. On the walk back to the apartment, Daehyun thought about Yoori.

Daehyun POV.
It was a great night talking to Yoo. She was once a stranger but now a very good friend. For the first time in a while, i had talked to someone so deeply like that. I didn't care the fact that she was a stranger. She shared things to me about herself that i bet she doesnt share to just anyone. Yoo was a great companion and i wished to see her again to tell her more about me. That talk made me feel so much better about myself and my life. Yoo is something special. She speaks to you like she understands you and gives you advice when it’s right. I made it home to the apartment and went to bed.
