Marriage Is Happiness

[6:30PM] Me and Sunmi were almost finished fixing the script when i looked up at the clock. I completely lost track of time and that i had dinner plans with my family. So i told Sunmi while i pack up my things to get ready to leave.

Yoori : i have to stop here for today. I got dinner plans with my family tonight.
Yoori : go home and rest. We’ll finish when we get back to work tomorrow morning.
Sunmi : okay. Have fun at dinner with your family.
Yoori (*smiles & says) : thanks.

On the other hand. Daehyun was just about to go to his car going home after a long day of work at the hotel. He got a call from his mom, Chaeyoung.

Daehyun (*answers the phone) : oh omma.
Chaeyoung : please come home tonight for dinner, everyone's going to be here.
Daehyun : I was just on my way.
Chaeyoung : great, we’ll see you soon.
Daehyun : ok bye.

Daehyun hung up the phone and walked to his car. He drove to his parents house to have dinner with the family. While driving there, he thought about something.

Daehyun’s POV.
I wondered what omma wanted to talk about. She sounded serious over the phone. I get worried every time she calls me over to have dinner as a whole family. I never get to go home because i’m always busy with work and i feel like i have no time. Before moving out and living on my own, i had told my parents that i wanted my privacy. I said i wasn't able to come home a lot anymore and that i needed my space. I couldn't stick around the family anymore. It’s not that we were fighting but i’m all grown up now and sometimes, a person needs their space (like to breathe). I love my family a lot and i wouldn't do anything to jeopardize them.

During this time, Minwoo and Chaeyoung were talking in the living room about Daehyun marriage plans.

Chaeyoung : i'd talked to a very good friend of mine from high school.
Chaeyoung : she said that she is worried about her daughter not getting married ever.
Chaeyoung : so I told her about our son Daehyun.
Chaeyoung : she was ok with her daughter marrying Daehyun.
Minwoo (*asks) : an arrange marriage?
Chaeyoung (*asks) : didn't you want Daehyun to get married soon?
Minwoo : I did. That way he can stop his bad boy bachelor way.
Chaeyoung : and it's not a bad idea too.
Minwoo : let's do that then. Talk to your friend about it and arrange a family meeting.
Chaeyoung : okay oppa.

I arrived at the restaurant and saw my family sitting there waiting for me. There was my mom (Sooah), my older brother (Hyunwoo), his wife (Aeyoung), their two kids, my sister (Mae). I walked over to take my seat. We began to order some food and talked. Once my mom talked, i got scared because i felt that she had some news for us or something. So she says…

Sooah : i have something i want to say to you guys.
Hyunwoo (*asks) : what is it mom ?
Sooah : i met an old friend of mine from high school today. Her name is Choi Chaeyoung.
Sooah : She was my best friend up until she got married and had a family.
Sooah : we spent all afternoon talking and came to an agreement.
Mae (*asks) : what was the agreement ?
Sooah : Chaeyoung’s eldest son, Daehyun, is single. They want him to get married very soon.
Sooah : so i suggested Yoori to marry him and she was okay with it.
Sooah : that's when we both came into an agreement to marry off both of our kids.
Yoori (*asks) : why me ? why not Mae Unnie ?
Sooah : because you're still young and i’m worried for you when you're going to get married.
Sooah : i understand that you want to focus just on work right now but it isn't suppose to be like this.
Sooah : it isn't always about work Yoori-ah. You need someone to take care of you in your life.
Yoori (*asks) : and you think this Daehyun guy is the best candidate for me ?
Sooah : i can't be sure right now but i know he’ll be great for you.
Aeyoung : Yoori is only 25 years old. She should be dating right now not getting married.
Aeyoung : this is all too soon for her.
Yoori : at least someone is on my side.
Sooah : i have already said yes to Chaeyoung on the marriage arrangement.
Sooah : we are both on the same page and we’re going to do this.
Yoori : you can’t make decisions for me anymore. Im old enough to make them myself.
Hyunwoo (*says to Yoori) : Yoori-ah. Don’t say that to omma.
Yoori : i don’t care. You guys can’t force me to get married to some complete stranger.
Yoori : it was nice having dinner with you guys tonight. Goodbye.

I politely bowed down and excused myself outside. I stood outside of the restaurant and thought about it for a second. My mind was all over the place and i couldn’t think straight.
