CHANYEOL'S P.O.V.

"Luhan" she replied. Lay arrived and started checking her. He gave her a shot that made her drowsy almost immediately. I held her hand the entire time. She held on tightly until she fell asleep. Who the fuck is Luhan?

"Baekhyun, call Xiumin. The two of you find out who is Luhan. And find that bastard!" I instructed Baekhyun. He just tapped my shoulder and left. Lay looked at me with a question in his eyes.

"She's out of the woods now and can breathe on her own. She doesn't need to go back to the ventilator. Are you going to leave her now?" Lay asked.

I'm torn. The need to avenge her injury was burning in me but the desire to keep her safe in my arms was stronger. "No. But I need to talk to Suho. Can you stay with her? Don't leave her alone.?" Lay nodded so I quickly left to talk to Suho and maybe check on Kai as well.

I walked down the hallway and knocked on a door. Without waiting for a response, I entered the room which surprised Kai, D.O. And Suho who were all chewing some fried chicken. It would have been a comical sight if I was in the mood. As it was, I'm in a hurry for some information to bother with pleasantries.

Kai stood up hesitantly and started to mumble an apology "Chanyeol, I'm sorry I failed to protect Lana. I...." I cut him off with a short reply. "It's not your fault. Train harder so it does not happen again."

"Suho, I need to speak to you" Suho brushed off his fingers and stood up ready to leave the room.

"No need to leave, whatever we discuss also need to be heard by the rest of the team."
Suho nodded. "What do you want to know?" He asked all business now.

I clenched my jaw a bit before I bit out my words "Who the fuck is Luhan?"

"Remember the Chinese family that wanted a merger with Lana's Family? The one who wanted an arranged marriage between Lana and their son? Well Lu Han is that son and heir who got rejected." Suho answered.

"Why would he want to kill Lana for a rejection that happened when they were kids? How would her death even benefit him?" I wondered at the sheer stupidity of the entire situation.

"Well until then Luhan was living the life of a little prince. Unknown to him his family was neck deep in trouble with the Chinese Triad. When the merger / marriage fell thru his family had no means to hold back the Triad and were executed in front of him. Because he was young and good looking, he was conscripted to a life of servitude for the triad. He became part of a world he never knew before; drugs, sex and slavery."

"Luhan however is smart and driven. He fought his way out from servitude within two years and started rising up in rank within the triad. The attacks on Lana's life started the year Luhan became a sergeant in the Triad. He is now a colonel in the Triad and last I heard the general who was his superior just got assassinated. It is also very apparent to me that he is mentally unhinged. Some of my investigators tell me he is a sweet and considerate young man with a fondness for singing. But others tell me he is a ruthless and sadistic thug. We can't tell which one is which."

"As to how her death would benefit him, I can only speculate as I never spoke with him. He sees her downfall as his victory." Suho was interrupted by the arrival of Xiumin. He handed Kai a bag filled with Mandu.

"I heard everything on my way here" Xiumin pointed at his earpiece, the same one everyone except Suho was wearing. "For a while now, I've been casting a wide net program to catch Kris but always came up half the time with a different person who was in the shadows. I thought Kris was just getting better in faking his identity but realized this other person is very secretive, sadistic and truly hates Lana. Even at his worst, I never thought Kris was sadistic and he has no reason to hate Lana."

"I have no proof this person even existed. He was like a ghost. I can see the effects of his actions but he himself never left a trace. Recently though, especially when you got together with Lana, the attacks kept on coming more frequently. We managed to foil 99% of it before it reached Lana or you." Xiumin was pointing at me.

"And you never thought it was relevant to tell me any of these?" I asked him.

"What the hell am I supposed to tell you? Oh by the way Chanyeol, I know you asked me to keep an eye on Kris because you think he is a traitor but that asshole is a lesser asshole compared to some unknown, faceless asshole that wants your girlfriend dead?" Xiumin complained.

Chanyeol thought for a minute and replied "Yup, that would have been helpful."

Xiumin threw a Mandu at my head which I caught neatly and started eating. Suho and Kai started cracking up. Suho gasped as he asked Kai: "How do I get me one of those earpieces and be part of the team. If nothing else the conversations must be out of this world."

I finished my Mandu and wiped my fingers. "You already are a part of the team." I said quietly.

That shut up everyone in the room.
