Hard Work

The Undergroud

The distinct jingle of a text tone rang out in the practice room, everyone was sitting on the floor. Jin was resting against the mirror monitoring the younger members fondly, Jungkook was lip-syncing to something with Tae, Jimin was filming them, Namjoon was reading, Hoseok was looking at his phone, and lastly Yoongi was searching for his phone which had just gone off. He looked around again, his eyes finally landing on the silver iPhone. He reached as far as he could, finally grasping the cool metal.

- Would you like to hang out later? If you're not on schedule all day, that is.

Yoongi felt his body lift in excitement, it had been a few weeks since their first date. They had gone out a couple times after that but not many due to schedules, in the time that wasn't spent on dates they had texted each other a lot. It wasn't anything serious, they just talked about hobbies and some things about music and dance. He would shoot lyrics at her over text and she would give her honest opinion of weather or not they would survive a whole song. He had learned about her cat, and some about her friends at the Academy. She was to be finishing up her final classes and prepare her audition within the next year.

- Yeah, we should. I'm free in around an hour if you want to meet at the cafe?

As soon as he had sent the reply Hoseok called for everyone to get on their feet. Begrudgingly everyone stood, phones long forgotten on the floor near the wall.

An exhausted sigh left Yoongi's lips, he had finally finished dance practice. He looked at his phone and noticed that Kokyung had sent him a reply.

- Sounds great, I'll see you then!

He looked at himself in the mirror, his hair was sweaty and he looked gross. He knew he would need to shower before ever trying to hang out with her.
He began to send a message to her.

- Hey, I may be a few minutes late. We just got out, I need to shower really quickly.

He turned off his screen and filed out of the practice room. As they walked down the halls of BigHit he could see the snow that was starting to fall outside. He hadn't even realized that it was that late in the season, it felt like just yesterday that it was just barely the start of fall.

As he dried his hair he looked at his phone, one message from Kokyung.

- Okay! I'm not in any rush, take your time.

He smiled slightly and pulled on a sweater, he wasn't sure exactly what they were going to be doing. He wouldn't mind going for a walk in the snow, it was beautiful. But he also didn't mind just staying somewhere inside where it was warm. He finished getting dressed and turned to leave the room he shared with Hoseok. Just as he was about to open the door his roommate opened the door from the other side.

"Ah? Where are you going, hyung?" The younger of the two questioned with a slight smirk on his face.

"Out."

"Oh? To see Kokyung-sii?"

"Yeah."

"Wow, you really like her!" The younger man grinned.

"Maybe, I'm not sure."

"You look awfully nervous. Have you kissed yet?" The grin on the other rappers face growing ever steadily.

"No. Now if you'll excuse me, I should be going."

"Be a man! Make a move! I believe in you, fighting!"

Yoongi rolled his eyes and left their shared room.

Soft flecks of crystallized water brushed Yoongi's pale cheeks as he trekked up the street towards the cafe. He had an idea of what he wanted to take Kokyung to do. In their conversations about random things over text he had learned she didn't listen to much hip-hop. It wasn't that he wanted her to change, he just wanted to offer a different type of hip-hop that wasn't offered through mainstream places like CD shops. He would run it past her first, if she said yes then he would ask Namjoon some of the places both he and Zico had rapped in Seoul. After a few minutes of walking from the station the cafe was in sight. The windows were lit, a warm yellow light was cast from them. It wasn't all that late, only 5:00. It looked later than that, the sun was hidden behind a large cluster of clouds.

The bell attached to just above the door rang lightly as the young rapper pushed the door open. The warmth of the room and the familiar atmosphere was welcomed greatly. His dark brown eyes scanned to find Kokyung. They finally landed on the pastel haired ballerina; there she was seated on the couch, hr legs folded beneath her body. She was chatting with Ms. Kim who was smiling widely. Slowly Yoongi made his way to the young woman. She looked up just before he was about to make himself known to the pair.

"Ah! You're here!" She laughed lightly, "I was beginning to worry about you."

She wore a slight smile on her full lips.

"Sorry, I couldn't leave the house without telling Hobi I guess." He laughed slightly.

She nodded and rose from her seat.

"Gamsa, Ms. Kim. I'm glad I was able to talk to you. Take care." She bowed politely.

"You too, Miss. Jae."

"What were you thinking about doing?" Yoongi asked, looking over at her as they walked down the snow lined streets.

"I-I wasn't really sure," Her cheeks darkened slightly.

"I have an idea if it's okay with you."

"Ah?"

"Well, you said you don't listen to much hip-hop."

"Mm-hm?"

"I was thinking if you wanted to, we could get something to eat then we could go to a rather underground concert with a lot of unsigned rappers there. It's really interesting to see, they are all really good. Namjoon-ssi use to go to these concerts a lot while we were all still rookies."

She blinked, a smile working its way on to her full lips.

"I'd like that a lot."

Relief flooded him, he pulled out his phone and sent a text to Namjoon asking where the venue was that he use to perform at was.

The soft hum of music sounded around the young couple as they sat in a small ramen shop in Gangnam.
Yoongi looked across the table to see Kokyung as she looked down at her food, her gaze on the bowl rather intense. He tried not to chuckle at how cute she looked. Her large brown eyes turned up to meet his.

"What?" Her pale cheeks reddening.

"You look cute."

Her reaction to his compliment was his favorite part of the encounter, her entire face began to redden quickly.

"Aish." She muttered looking back to her food.

Unable to hold in his laughter, Yoongi rested his hand on the table looking down as he chuckled.

"It should be right around here," Yoongi paused looking around the small area of the alleyway he had led her down.

The sound of a heavy bass line seemed to be coming from below them; when he thought of underground rap, he didn't think it was ACTUALLY underground.

"Ah! Here?" Kokyung pulled away from him, she walked up to what appeared to be cellar doors and pulled them open.

The bass line that was sounding from below them became far louder with the doors opened.

Yoongi glanced over at the girl beside him, her body language was tense. She didn't look very out of place, but her posture and facial expression gave away that she wasn't use to being in the atmosphere. Hoping to ease her stress, he took her hand in his and pulled her though the crowd of people to where an area with a few couches and tables.

"You should probably adjust before we go up there and get in the crowds. You okay?"

"Y-yeah. There are just more people than I was expecting." A shy look crossed her face.

"Do you want to leave? We can if you'd prefer?"

"No! No. I want to experience this, I think I just need a moment to collect myself."

Looking around the basement like area he noticed a long row of hooks with jackets thrown onto them.

"Let me hang your jacket." He offered.

She looked up at him and smiled slightly, she pulled her coat off her shoulders and her scarf and passed them to him.

"Gamsa." She said bowing her head slightly.

"Here," He grabbed her hand again, this time not to calm her but to prevent her from getting swept away from him. "Safety precaution."

She smiled up at him and tugged him forward towards the front of the crowd. There was a small stage set up, all of the low lighting in the basement was pointing to this small stage. On it was a young man who was rapping about a girl. Kokyung grinned over at him, she looked really happy to be there.

"He's amazing!" Her small voice hardly reached his ears, he leaned down to hear her better.

"Yeah, he is."

Her face turned quickly, their noses almost brushing. She had a sweet smile on her lips, it was taking all of his willpower not to pull her closer to him.

"Thank you for bringing me, Yoongi-oppa."

He could feel her warm breath brush across his lips.

"Of course. I'm glad you're enjoying it." He replied trying to find somewhere else to look.

Her fingers laced through his as she turned away from him again to look at the stage. He gave her hand a light squeeze before tuning into what the freestyle lyrics were in the air around him.

The street lamp at the end of the alley caused a glitter in the snow flakes that fell around Kokyung. A smile formed on Yoongi's lips as he watched her smile widen at the crystals falling from above them. Their hands laced together again, she looked up at him.

"Here, I think people are gonna start leaving soon. We should probably get out of the way."

He pulled her hand and led her up the alleyway to the sidewalk.

"I had an amazing time! Your freestyle was amazing!"

"I'm glad you had a good time." He laughed.

The look on her face was the most animated he had ever seen; her eyes were lit up brightly, the smile on her face brighter than he had ever seen.

She stopped at the end of the alley under the street lamp, he looked down to see why she had stopped.
The moment his face turned to see hers, he could feel something rather cold on his lips. It took a second for him to register that it was her lips pressed to his. He quickly kissed back. Her lips were so soft, they moved ever so slightly against his. He reciprocated the kiss and rested one of his hands on her hip, the other went to her cheek. One of her hands were tangled in his redish brown hair, the other was on his waist.

She pulled away from the kiss after several long seconds, her face was pink.

"A-ah. I'm sorry! That was so forward of me." She quickly bowed her head to him.

Confusion rushed through him.

"Don't be sorry. I was hoping to do that, I'm glad we were on the same page."

Her face darkened into a red shade, her lips twitching up into a slight smile.

"I was beginning to wonder if you even liked me a little." She chuckled lightly.

As they made the trek up the stairs to her apartment, Yoongi watched her expressions carefully as she spoke. Her eyes told her feelings, and her stories better than her words even did. It was truly interesting to watch happen. When she laughed they lit up and squinted slightly, there was a warmth in them that he could get lost in.

"Thank you again." Her quiet voice met his ears as she stopped in front of her apartment door.

"Thank you, too." He mumbled, "I hope I'm not to forward in asking if I can kiss you."

She blushed and leaned in slightly, he met her halfway and pressed their lips together for the second time that night.
