Hard Work

Impromptu

The air of November was starting to prove rather cold, the winds that coursed through the streets of Seoul were enough to redden the cheeks and chill the bones. As a prelude to what was only to come in the harshness of the winter; fall served the citizen of Seoul a need for hot coffee and ramen.
Yoongi was no exception to this; he wrapped his black scarf tighter around his neck as he walked down the streets towards the cafe.
It had been a few weeks since his last encounter with Kokyung, he just hoped she was working. He wanted an excuse to see her.

The small building that he desired came into view finally, he quickened his pace. As he walked through the door he head the usual tinkle of the bell that was attached to the door.

"Welcome!" Kokyung's voice greeted him as he went to his usual table in he corner of the room.

Nothing seemed out of place or different at all in the room; the old men were playing Go, the elderly woman was knitting what appeared to be a long scarf. Kokyung was bustling around to all of the business people that were tapping away on their laptops, hardly paying her any mind. After a few moments she made her way to him.

"Ah, how can I help you?" Her soft voice filled his ears, he felt relaxed to hear her speak.

"Could I get a latte and a piece of melon bread?"

"Two things?" Her voice teased above him.

He looked up to meet her light brown eyes, she smiled at him.

"Yeah. Shaking it up, you know? Don't you have still have time off?"

"Well, from classes and training. Not for my job. It's people like you that keep me here."
Her teasing tone grew more obvious as she grinned down at him.
He let out a laugh and rolled his eyes, a grin worked on to his face.

Kokyung walked back behind the counter to get Yoongi's melon bread, he had never ordered food before. She shrugged of the odd occurrence and quickly walked back to the idol.

"I'll have your latte in a few minutes, sorry for the wait."

He looked up at her and offered her a gummy smile, she felt her smile widen. He looked so cute with a smile, she turned around quickly and went to make his coffee. The idea of standing and talking to him buzzed in the back of her mind, she always enjoyed spending time with him. He was so nice, a little blunt but in a good way. She tapped the coffee into the small holder and slid into the coffee machine. Glancing out of the corner of her eye she watched the rapper scratch something off the notepad he was writing on.

Yoongi stared at the lyrics there were scrawled down on the paper, nothing looked right. He let out a sigh and took another bite of his melon bread. Just as he set the treat back down on the plate a small thump signified that his coffee had arrived to him. He looked up and saw Kokyung starting to turn to walk away, he didn't even think for a second before he reached out and caught her hand before she was out of reach.
She paused and turned back to look at him, a light smile playing on her lips.

"Yes?" She asked quietly.

"Um. I was wondering if you wanted to go out to eat after you got off? Maybe walk around?"

She paused for a moment, before she cast him a smile.

"I'd like that, I get out in an hour and a half. Wait around?"

"Y-yeah." He nodded, resisting the urge to show his excitement.

Sending a quick text to Seokjin to let him know he wouldn't be there for dinner; Yoongi started to work to pass the time.

Kokyung felt her cheeks heat up as she walked back behind the counter, was he asking her on a date? That's what it felt like, she resisted the urge to squeal. She couldn't wait to get off work, she felt compelled to do her job quickly and efficiently in hopes to pass the time quicker. She bustled around the cafe.

With only twenty minutes left of her shift Kokyung was ringing up another one of the business men who was apparently late to a meeting. Just as she finished waiting on him Ms. Kim called her over to the couch she was seated on.

"Miss. Jae, could I borrow you rather quickly?"

"Eh? Yes, ma'am."

The young woman quickly make her way over to the elderly woman.

"Take a seat." The halmeoni patted the seat beside her.

Obliging the older woman the waitress took a seat and jumped as she felt wool scratch across her skin. Looking down she saw a long grey scarf wrapped around her neck.

"Ah! Perfect!" The old woman exclaimed with a grin.

Attempting to weight through her confusion the younger woman met her eyes.

"Who is this for, Ms. Kim?"

"You! It is a small token of my thanks, you've worked here for five years and always had the same disposition about everything. It's admirable, thank you for being such a wonderful worker! I do hope you're able to get good use out of this, what with winter coming."

Kokyung blinked before bowing deeply to the elderly woman before her.

"Thank you so much! I will use this always!"

With an affectionate pat on the shoulder the old woman pointed to the register where Yoongi was waiting to pay.

Kokyung quickly walked over to the register, a slight smile on her face. She had the dark grey scarf wrapped around her neck still.

"Ah! I'm sorry for the wait."

"It's no problem, that was a sweet gift." The rapper commented nodding down to the scarf on her neck.

She nodded with a smile, she rang up his items and looked to the clock on the wall.

"Ah, it's time for me to get off. Just let me go change really quickly and I'll be right back out to go."

"Okay, I'll be over at the table I usually sit at." He pointed to the corner where he usually sat.

Yoongi put his notepad into his bag and zipped it closed, let out a content sigh and looked up to see Kokyung quickly making her way to him. She looked so cute, just like she always did. She wore a lavender colored sweater that seemed big on her, a pair of black jeans with rips in the knees, a pair of thick soled boots, and a color blocked coat that was muted pink, dark grey, and black. Over all of this she wore the scarf that the elderly woman had given her. She had a slight smile on her face, her small backpack like bag slung over her shoulder as she made her way through the cafe to him.

"Ready?" He asked as he stood up.

She nodded in response.

The cold wind threw Kokyung's hair towards Yoongi, washing him in the scent of peaches. He walked beside her, his hands shoved deep into the pockets of his coat. They were making their way to a Pho restaurant that was just a little ways away. She was leading him up the street to where she mentioned the place. Her hands were buried in her pockets as well, her long hair was untameable in the wind.

Kokyung looked for the small restaurant along the bustling streets of the Hongdae area; finally the small place came into view. She turned to see Yoongi who was beside her, she gestured over to the small place.

"Here we are! It's really good, I promise." She felt a smile form on her lips just seeing his face light up a little.

"I'm sure you're right."

They walked inside and were seated almost instantly.

Yoongi looked up from the small menu he had been handed, his gaze met that of the girl across from him. She quickly dropped her gaze back to the small square of paper in her hands.

"Thank you for saying yes." He casually commented as he set the slip of paper onto the table.

"Oh! Thank you for asking, Yoongi-oppa." She said looking up at him.

"My pleasure."

Her face slowly started to turn red, she dropped her gaze again.
As he opened his mouth to speak the waiter that had given them their menus came to the table to take their orders.

Kokyung couldn't help but want to ask him if it was a date, it felt like a date. She shook off the feeling of curiosity and tapped her fingers on the table top as they waited for their food.

"So, how has the last few weeks been?" She asked, finally unable to cope with the quiet around them.

"It's been good, a busy time. We've had a few stages for promotion after we released the new EP. Namjoon-ah, Hoseok-ah, and I have been working on some more new songs for the next mini album we're going to release soon."

"Oh wow! Already? It's only been a couple months since you released O!RUL8,2. I suppose being busy and working hard is the best past time."

He nodded in response.

"What about you? How has your mini vacation been?"

"Boring, I went in to work on some steps but Ms. Kuriyakin sent me away when she noticed me. If I'm not dancing I don't really have purpose." She laughed slightly at the end.

"Passion is a good thing." The rapper commented.

"Would you like to go for a walk?"
Yoongi rubbed the back of his head as he asked. His redish brown hair ruffled as he spoke. He had dyed it shortly after finishing the classes and exhibition with the UBA.

"Hm? Oh, yeah. That would be wonderful."

He watched as she turned to look at him, he smiled widely. They walked down the streets and it struck him that he should probably tell her where they were going.

"I was thinking maybe we could walk around the Seoul Forest."

"Oh, I love that area. It's so pretty." She said, she looked like she was remembering something.

"Okay, shall we catch a train?" He asked looking over to her.

She nodded and followed him.

The park had people wandering around through it, Yoongi and Kokyung were no different from everyone else that walked past them. As they walked through a pathless area Kokyung's foot caught on a rather hidden root and she began to fall forward. Before her face could make contact with the ground she stopped moving. A warm body had stopped her decent. She felt herself get pulled upward, she looked up at Yoongi. His cheeks were red and he was holding her upper body.

"Be careful where you step." He chided, as he finished speaking he let go of her upper body and took her hand in his.
"Just in case you fall again." He coughed.

A smile grew on her lips as she watched him shrug off his actions. He pulled her hand with his into his pocket and left them connected there.

"Thanks." She said quietly, not wanting to ruin the moment that had been created.

"Don't mention it." He quickly brushed her off, his face turning redder and redder the longer their hands were laced together in his jacket pocket.

Yoongi could feel her slightly cold fingers lace through his own far warmer fingers within his pocket. He lightly squeezed her hand and walked along the path that he had pulled them on after her almost face-plant. Their shoulders bumped occasionally as they carried on looking at the sculptures that were scattered though out the park. The sun was going down, the city lights were already starting to sparkle just off in the distance of the wooded area. The lamps that lined the paths were slowly starting to flicker on. The rapper realized their pace had slowed down as the night started to approach. He could feel her light brown eyes on him, he turned his head to see her smiling up at him.

"What is it?"

"Nothing, I'm just having a really nice time. Thank you."

"Me too, I guess walking around and moving isn't completely bad."

"It didn't occur to me that you are the self-proclaimed laziest member of BTS. Why on earth did you want to go for a walk?" She giggled at him.

"Because I-aish..." He stuttered as he tried to say that he wanted to spend more time with her and learn more about her.

"Because?" She pressed.

"I wanted to spend more time with you and get to know you better."

"Ah, I'm glad. I want to know more about you too." She smiled at him.

It felt like all of the pressure on his chest was lifted as he heard her say that.

Kokyung felt her cheeks get warm as she admitted to wanting to know him more. She wondered if it was the right time to ask him if it was a date or not.
Deciding to take a chance she looked up at him again. His pale face was tinged with red, she could see it reflecting in the street lamps they were walking past.

"Yoongi-oppa?"

"Hm?" He asked, looking down at her for a moment.

"I hope I'm not being to forward in asking this, but would you consider this a date?"

She had finally had the courage to ask him, he was silent for a few seconds before slowly nodding.

"I think so."

"Okay."
She wasn't sure how to respond to that. She could feel the excitement she had felt in the cafe resurface. A grin worked it's way onto her face.

"Thank you for walking with me home."

"I wanted to make sure you were okay the whole way here." He dropped his gaze as he said this.

"Yoogi-oppa," She held her phone out to him, gesturing for him to take it. "You should put your number in."

Without a seconds hesitation he pulled his phone from his pocket and passed it to her. They traded numbers and she smiled at him.

"Text me next time you'd like to go out."

"I will, you can text me whenever."

He wasn't sure what to do, he didn't feel that kissing her was a good move but he didn't want to abruptly leave and make her think he didn't like her.

"Have a good night." He said before squeezing her hand lightly and letting it go.

"You too. Be safe on your way home. Tell Jin-oppa I said hello."

He nodded and waited for her to close the door to her apartment.

The front door of the dorm quietly clicked shut, there was a clink that could have been a dish that came from the kitchen. Taking off his shoes and coat, Yoongi walked into the kitchen to see who was still up. It was only 10:30, there was bound to be someone up. As he entered the kitchen he saw Seokjin and Hoseok sitting beside one another looking at their laptops. They both looked up at the rapper as he entered the room.

"Ah, welcome back. What kept you out so late, hyung?" Hoseok asked, a teasing tone in his voice.

Seokjin nudged him and shook his head, "How was Kokyung-ssi?"

Yoongi could feel his face heat up at the question.

"She told me to tell you hi."
As he said that he walked to the fridge and pulled out a bottle of water.

"Ooh! You were on a date?" Hobi asked, a huge grin on his face.

"Sorta." Yoongi commented as he twisted the top off the bottle and brought it to his lips.

"What did you do? Go to a movie? Sit in a book store?"

"No."

"Then what?" The other rapper pressed, the grin on his face growing with every passing second.

"We went out for dinner and then took a walk."

"You?" A new voice interrupted the questioning, Jungkook had wandered in during the explanation. "You went for a walk? I didn't take you as the type to actually do something like that on a date."

Yoongi laid flat on his bed, his eyes closed. He could hear the door open and then close, he didn't bother to open his eyes. It was most likely just Hobi coming to lay down in his own bed.

"Don't let them get to you, I'm glad you went on a date with her."

Instead of Hobi speaking, Yoongi was surprised to hear Jin's voice.
His eyes popped open and he saw the older man standing near the foot of his bed.

"Yeah. I'm glad too. We had a good time."

"Did you kiss her?"

"Wha-no. Not on the first date, only someone uncivilized would do that. I do have some manners."

"I know, it's just that you two like each other a lot. Tell her I said hi next time you see her."

"You have her number hyung, you could just text her."

"No no, you tell her. I don't want to text her, that's your job. Did you go out to find her today? Or was it an accident that you stumbled across her?"

"I wouldn't say either, I hoped I would see her but I wasn't going to be surprised if I didn't. I just went to the cafe, and she was working. The rest was just kinda spur of the moment."

"Well I'm glad it happened, have a goodnight Yoongi-ah."

"You too, Jin-hyung."
