Chapter 5: Reality
Lay’s POV
“Yahhh! Where are they?” Sehun whimpered, while Luhan stroked his pink, blonde hair.
We were all impatient, waiting for the three to come back.
Where are they? What is taking them so long? I thought pacing around, before flopping onto the couch beside Kyungsoo.
“You guys should get some rest. You all look half dead.” Our co-manager called out at us. We all turned and stared at him blankly.
“Where are they?” I asked.
“Huh?”
“WHERE ARE THEY!?” I screamed, getting ready to punch him. The other members grabbed my wrists, pulling me back.
“W-what? They still haven’t come back?”
I wanted to strangle that man! First he comes back to SM, ALONE! Then he tells us that our manager, Mr. Moon is DEAD! And now he has no idea where Suho, Xiumin, and Tao are! What kind of manager is he?!
“LET GO OF ME! I shrieked, shaking my fists.
A murderer is out there, stalking us. And our co-manager doesn’t seem like he even gives a shit!
“Please…..get some sleep, I’ll go get the others. That I will promise.” He said, slamming the door, before I could say anything back.
“Lay…” I turned around to see Chen who gripped my shoulders, shaking his head.
I need to pull myself together….I can’t let that sasaeng fan get to me. I need to set a good example for the others. I have to be calm, so the other members don’t need to worry about me.
I let out a big breath, trying to calm myself.
“Everything’s fine.” I muttered to myself. I lead the other members back to our dorm, where it was heavily guarded by the security team.
“Everything’s fine.” I repeated loudly so the other members could hear.
Suho agreed that we are still one. There is nothing to worry about. We just need to calm down, and everything will become better.
Right?
It’s dark.
I tried opening my eyes again. Are they open or closed?
I moved my hand to rub my eyes, but found it tied together with something.
What’s happening?
My legs...My lips too.
I can’t move them.
I felt something tickle my ear. What is it? I shiver.
“ Oppa….You are so vulnerable. Not just you….but all of you.” She said in a calm, yet insane voice.
My heart stops.
I tried to scream, but no sound came out.
It’s HER.
She chuckles at the sight of me struggling.
“You are so cute…..it makes me want to hurt you more.” She whispered crazily.
I struggled to move.
Please, god….help us.
My body, it feels numb. It hurts...everywhere.
“LAY!”
Suho! I tried to move towards the voice, but it became more muffled.
No, please don’t come here. You’re going to get hurt.
I heard a crash and some muffled yelling. Did she just break the window?
The door bursts open. Who’s here?
“Hyung…”
“Tao?” I tried calling out.
I tried moving my torso, but I was immediately struck with pain.
Not now, not at a time at this. I thought desperately. I tried widening my eyes more, but the blackness engulfed me before I had the chance to do anything.
I woke up again to find a completely dark room.
What's happening!? No….. Please, stop this! I screamed without realizing. The other members came rushing in.
“Lay are you okay?” Chen questioned, his eyebrows furrowing in concern.
I touched my forehead, finding sweat. “I’m fine.”
They all looked at me, clearly unconvinced. I scratched my head and let out a long breath. “Really….I really am fine.”
Xiumin grabbed Chen’s shoulder and told the others to give me some room. They all looked at me one last time before gently closing the door.
Once they left, I ran quickly to the bathroom and shut the door with a slam. My face hanging inches from the toilet.
I shuddered, dropping to my knees. I hugged myself, as I sobbed quietly. Never had I felt this much fear. Never had I felt this terrified in my life.
Talking with a murderer..
My stomach lurched at such a thought. I continued crying silently, until the door to my washroom quietly opened. The face of our leader regarded me, his eyes filled with grief. I will never…...never be able to sleep, without hearing the same words that SHE spoke to me. Never. My tears burned my cheek. I can’t take this anymore.
" S-she was here...she talked to me..." I stutter, trembling from shock and fear.
“Lay….Remeber what I said? We will always be one. Always.” Suho promised, his eyes shining brightly like a canine.
I nodded, wiping the tears from my face.
“Right now, we are going to the police. We're going to find a detective, so they can catch HER.” He hissed. He looked at me his eyes like slits, piercing me. I shuddered under his stare. “You stay here with Chen. We’ll be back very soon.”
I avoided his stare and nodded. He got up from the spot beside me and left before glancing at me one more time.
Soon after my conversation with Suho, he and the others left. I started playing the guitar, hoping it would calm my racing heart. I stared out at the window where the wind rattled against it.
A coming storm.
CRASH
I jumped, the sound echoing down the hall, making it’s way to me. A scream pierced through the air, before silence filled the air. Another crash and it was deadly silent.
“C-chen?” I called out, staggering towards the scream I had heard before.
The room was bright, blinding my eyes. Two windows were broken. Chen lay passed out, blood dripping down his hand, which was clutching his neck.
“Yah...Please get up! GET UP!” I cried, shaking him roughly. My vision blurred, my hand, it’s bleeding? Blood dripped from my wound. I grabbed frantically at my shirt, covering the dark red liquid. I felt woozy, my body swayed, my eyes slowly closing. An arm wrapped around me, before I could fall. My eyes snapped open.
“Hyung..” I croaked. Why do I have to cut myself at a time like this!?
His eyes hardened at the sight of my pathetic self.
Why am I so useless?
"Don't worry, we'll find her....I swear. But for now, we should get out of here. She's dangerous, she knows how to get in here. We’re not safe, until we find a place to hide."
When will this nightmare ever end? Since SHE came into our lives, it was as if everything will never return to the way it was before.
I gripped his shirt and sobbed, bitterly.
He's right.
We have to get out of here…
And fast.
