But You Love Me

“So I know i’m not as highly ranked as Taekyung-sunbae but I hope you’ll still have faith in this-“
I’m cut off by members getting up out of their desk and leaving the room without even listening to me. I sigh deeply forcing my heartbeat down my throat again. The rest that are left are either packing their stuff to leave, or are staring at me unimpressed. I gulp slowly as my shoulders become heavy. “This tutoring club meant a lot to Taekyung-sunbae, shouldn’t we honour that?”
“Not when we’ve got you as the leader.”
One of the boys says abruptly standing up. I’m just astounded.
“Excuse me? Sunbae chose ME, not you to lead this club.”
And with what I say he leaves with a sour stare at me, but I don’t regret saying that… until they all file out as if it’s lunch time. I’m left alone in the empty classroom. My heartbeat raises and tears choke up my ability to breath. I collapse in the closest desk to the front. “What do I do?” I let silence fill the room after saying that. I totally deserved this position after all the high grades i’d got and awards i’d won. Disrespect was one thing I couldn’t stand. People in this world earn their way into their high positions, to be degraded is something so disgusting, I can’t have that happen to me.
SLAM!
I turn my head automatically to the noise that broke my wonderful silence. Ugh. I reach for my books to study out of as soon as I realise who it is. “What are you doing? Wait, that’s obvious…” Yoongi says casually slowly strolling through from the back of the classroom. “… studying. Why of course, because what else do you have?”
I grip my pencil trying to focus on my work instead of his ignorant comments. “No actual friends, no ability to swim.” I whip my head to stare his right in the eyes with the worst stare I have. He knows too much about me, and I can’t do anything. “Get lost,” I say through gritted teeth still staring at his stupid smile on his face. He makes a noise as is he’s hurt by what I said. “It’s a shame because… ins’t this the tutoring club?” He looks around the empty classroom with the corner of his mouth sticking up. “Pity. I really wanted to join.”
I stand up dropping my pencil on my book, looking him dead in the eyes. “Don’t you dare…”
“Actually.” a voice begins from the back of the classroom. I turn to see Miss Yang looking upon the scene. “That’s a great idea Yoongi,” she says folding her arms. I hear Yoongi curse under his breath. I don’t wanna be around him as much as he doesn’t want to be around me. “Miss Yang, I respect your opinion but I really don’t think that’s a good idea,” I protest.
“If you respect me, you’ll respect that I think this would be a perfect opportunity for Yoongi.” She makes her way to the front of the classroom. She’s got me, I can’t fight a teacher who is so highly respected. Yoongi, meanwhile, scratches the back of his neck wishing he wasn’t here. “I mean, the top student, she says gesturing to me. “And our trouble maker,” she says gesturing to Yoongi. She claps her hands together and says, “it’s settled! Saeyong, you can organise the meet ups, Yoongi… just turn up.” She smiles contrary to our obviously disapproving faces and leave the room. After I bow, the room is silent again. Just my luck, I get given one of the best clubs to lead and the only member I have is a ‘Bulletproof Boy.’
“It’s always because of you,” Yoongi grunts out before leaving the room angrily. I sit down again and try to continue studying as if that never happened. “AISH!!! This is so unfair! I worked so hard!” I yell to the empty classroom uselessly.
