The Roller Coaster That Is Life

Chapter 6: Meeting

Nita's POV

Two Days Later

Nita was waiting outside of the CEO's office. She had gotten there earlier than her scheduled time, now she was nervously waiting to be called in. She heard the door open, and saw none other than the members of Big Bang walk out of the office. The fan girl in her was screaming, she stood up to bow as they walked pass her, when the receptionist said in English, "You can go in now," pointing to the double doors. Before she could bow to her, one of the members said, "There seems to be one here every day, a new wannabe." For some reason the voice sent a rush of fire up her spine, in a good way. She knew the comment was meant for her, but she wasn’t sure if whoever said it knew she understood the language. She didn't have time to over analyze what was said and why it was being said to her, she couldn't keep her new boss waiting. She bowed to both parties and made her way to the door of the office.
Nita didn't knock and didn't say hello as she walked into the office, she'd figure if she was told to come in then it was known that she was coming in.
"Please have a seat, you must be Nita Singh," Sangnim said extending his hand out to her, she took it, shaking it.
"Yes," Nita was still a bit nervous, and really didn't know what else to say.
"Since you're here, that means you're taking the job," he didn’t waste any time getting to the point, she appreciated that, "I know the letter that was sent was just an appointment letter, we usually discuss everything at the first meeting," Nita nodded her head, "so let me tell you the basics of your job, I'm going to make you an assistant manager to a group, you'll be moving in with them, all living arrangements have been made. I have a couple of questions for you which I'll hope you'll answer honestly."
Nita again nodded her head, "I pride myself on my honesty, I don't have anything to hide sir, you can ask me anything," she said.
"You're living in the same apartment complex as SM Entertainment's Super Junior, right?" he asked looking her in the eye. It didn't look like he was accusing her of anything, merely seeing if she was honest or not.
"Yes, sir. I am," she said, she really didn't have anything to hide.
"How'd you end up with them? And why not apply for SM?" he asked, she'd figured he'd done his research, she wasn't surprised with either question.
"Do you watch Running Man, sir?" she asked. Sangnim nodded his head, "Have you seen the episode where Choi Siwon gets beaten by a lady with a purse, thinking that he's a thief?" she asked. He nodded again, "That woman who beat him with her purse . . . . .was me," Nita said rubbing the back of her neck, that moment was still the most embarrassing moment of her life for her.
Sangnim started laughing, "That was you?!? You made him the most searched topic online for almost a week."
Nita was still embarrassed, but she knew that if she wanted to keep this job and make a living she had to tell him everything, "Yang Sangnim, in order for me to answer all your question I think I need to start from the very beginning of my story. . ."
Yang Sangnim's laughing subsided at the serious note to her tone, and he nodded his head for her to continue what she was saying.
After an hour and a half later, Nita sat in front of Yang Sangnim and waited for his reaction. After telling him everything from the time she was kicked out of her house to now, and the whys and whats of everything, it seemed like it happened just days ago. She still had a hard time dealing with it all. Sometimes she sat and wondered if her family missed her or not, if they'd thought of her as much as she had thought of them in the past three and a half months.
"Wow. So you've been in Korea for three months and already know important people," he said, there was clear astonishment and respect in his eyes.
"It was just luck, I was lucky to have met Siwon when I did. He helped me out a lot. He's become a close friend," Nita said smiling.
"I understand that, but I need you to understand where I'm coming from. You can have anyone you like as a friend, but we don't take well to traitors." Sangnim said looking her straight in the eyes, she didn't blame him for questioning her. He was looking out for the best interest for his company.
"I get that. I understand. Like I said before, I pride myself in my honesty. I keep my personal life separate from my work life. I give you my word that I will not be a sell-out."
Yang Sangnim smiled at her, that was one thing she wasn't expecting him to do after the conversation they were having.
"I spoke with Choi Siwon myself, so I already knew your association with him. Surprisingly, when I asked him about giving you the job, he said that if he had to they'd keep their distance from you once you'd gotten the job," he said, raising one eyebrow, "you inspire such faithfulness in people Ms. Nita, and I'm impressed with your honesty. Siwon had told me that you had gone through some hardships recently, but I didn't think it was to that extent," he continued, "it would seem to be in my best interest to have you on my side of the ring. Welcome to YG Entertainment, Ms. Nita."
Nita couldn't help but smile, the welcome to YG Entertainment, part of that was amazing. She felt accepted, not that she hadn't felt that feeling before, but right now it felt as if her father was accepting her. She scolded herself for that thought, she couldn't and shouldn't let her emotions rule the moment.
"I think I mentioned earlier that the living arrangements have been made. I talked to Siwon, he said he'd have someone move all your things to the new house, and he told me to tell you he will be coming by to make sure everything is alright," Yang Sangnim said to her, handing her some paperwork, "Those are the employment contract and confidentiality agreements, read them over and sign at the bottom, I'm going to step out while you do that. I need to make sure, at least your new roommates are here," he said while walking towards the door.
Nita looked over the confidentiality contract first, it was the shorter of the two. As far as confidentiality contracts went this was a standard contract, it basically said, no information about the company or its members should be given out without proper consent, otherwise one could be legally prosecuted. She read it over twice and signed it. The employment contract basically gave her the lay of the land, what she could do and couldn't do, the terms and conditions of her employment, benefits and the such, again it was another standard employment contract. As she was setting the signed paperwork back on Yang Sangnim's desk, she heard the office door open, she still had a question to ask, "Sir, I still had one more question to ask," she said turning around to look at him, "is it okay if I used an empty studio in the mornings?"
"Yea, that's not a problem, just be sure to stop by the HR department downstairs before you go, to take care of your employee id and things." Her eyes followed the long line of men coming in, she immediately bowed and said, "Annyeonghaseyo, my name is Nita," in Korean. Apparently they hadn't expected the recently English speaking girl to speak Korean. It took Nita a minute to realize who was standing in front of her, "Guys, like she said, she's Nita, she will be your new live-in assistant manager. Be good to her and take care of her," he said to them, then he looked at Nita, "Nita, you'll be looking after these guys, take good care of them, okay."
"Neh, Sangnim, I will," she said. "Oh one more thing, Siwon said they'd be picking you up, to just give them a call," Sangnim continued, "again Welcome to YG." She bowed and made her way out the office, she started making a mental list of all the things she had to finish before her first day of work tomorrow. She pulled out her cell phone and called Donghae, he was free today, the others had things on their schedules that they couldn't get out of, or at least that's what she was told.
"Hey, I need someone to pick me up in about an hour, I still have to take care of some stuff with HR here and then I need to go to the house that I'll be staying at," she blurred out over the phone, no time for hi-how-are-yous.
"No worries, we've taken all your things to that house already, Siwon texted me the address," Donghae said over the phone.
"We?" Nita asked, stopping in her tracks.
"Neh, we. We'll be by in an hour's time then, to come and get you," Donghae said quickly and hung up the phone.
She began to wonder why they hadn't told her the truth. Her mind went back to the night they all had congratulated her on getting the job. She'd made enchiladas that night, and they were all so happy for her, so much so that she was the only one thinking about the repercussions of working for a different company. She had become a bit sad at the thought of leaving behind her newly made friends. They didn't treat her any differently and that's what she liked about them. She became a bit sad again, standing there in the hallway, she felt someone tap her shoulder and was immediately pulled out of her inner turmoil. She turned around to look at who was tapping her shoulder, to find Seungri looking at her.
"Annyeonghaseyo, you left so quickly, we didn't get a chance to introduce ourselves, I'm Seungri," he said holding out his hand, she wasn't surprised that he introduced himself first. Out of the group he was known as the most social constantly introducing himself and his friends. Nita bowed taking his hand, she had already said hello, and she wasn't entirely sure they really wanted to be rooming with a random stranger, "That's Daesung, Taeyang, Jiyong, and TOP hyung." Couldn't help but giggle, only because on some of the shows they'd been on Seungri was a topic of discussion.
"What's so funny?" he asked, the others were looking at her like she was some kind of stocker. "It's nothing, you really didn't have to introduce yourself or them, you guys are YG's infamous BIG BANG, known worldwide. I already knew who you guys were, but thank you, I'll take my leave now, I still have to get some things done before the day's out. I'll meet you guys at the house, I'm sure you all have to get coordinated too. It was awesome meeting you guys, bye."
She turned around to leave but someone grabbed her arm, "Jamkkan, I think I've seen you from somewhere?" said Daesung looking at her face with concentration. "You know what, I thought the same thing, Daesung," added Seungri. "I saw all of you guys when you walked out of Sangnim's office the first time," Nita said with a 'dhu' look on her face, it was such a blond question. "No, no, no, no, I think I've seen you somewhere else," Seungri said. Nita would have loved to play this guessing game, but she really had a long list of things she needed to finish, she just didn't have time for this right now, "Can we talk about this later, I mean, I'm sorry, but I'd really like to finish taking care of everything with HR before I come to work tomorrow, miahnhae!" she said running off and yelling the apology.

G-Dragon's POV

All of the guys and Jiyong were sitting in the Yang Sangnim's office. He was curious as to why they had been called in first thing in the morning. He was equally surprised when, they were told the night before to start packing their things up.
Jiyong had a feeling that Yang Sangnim was up to something, "So what do you think he wants to talk to us about?" T.O.P asked looking at him.
"I don't know, but I'm sure it has something to do with us changing residence," Jiyong answered, trying to analyze what was going on.
"You're right," came an answer from the door, Yang Sangnim was walking in, "it does have something to do with a change in residence, with five separate managers and one group manager, maintaining all the schedules is getting to be a headache, so I've decided to hire a live in assistant manager. This person will live with you guys and help manage both the group and your individual schedules."
"Are you sure that's a good idea, adding a new person, how can you trust them?" Jiyong asked, he wasn't sure what to think about this.
"Do you already have someone in mind, Sangnim?" asked Daesung.
"Neh, I do," he answered bluntly, "They come recommended from a good source," he added.
"And who would that be," T.O.P asked
"Choi Siwon." Sangnim said frankly.
"What?!?!" they all yelled in unison, Jiyong wasn't sure he heard that right, Choi Siwon, SM's Choi Siwon, he couldn't have heard that right.
"That's right, SM's Choi Siwon." he said with a smirk.
"You sure that's a good idea," Seungri asked, starting to analyze the good and the bad of the situation.
"I'm sure," Sangnim answered.
"Since you've already made your decision, why not just tell us we have a new assistant manager?" Jiyong asked, getting annoyed at the fact that they were all beating around a bush, rather than getting to the main point.
"I just needed to let you all know what's going, and why you were told to start packing your things," Sangnim clarified, "take care of what you guys have to take care at the office today, your new assistant manager is coming today . . ." his office phone started ringing, he answered it, "just have them wait. ." was all he said and hung up the phone, "so where was I," he started with them again, "oh, that right, the new assistant manager is coming today, and I want all of you to meet her," he finished.
"Her?" Daesung and Seungri asked, "Our new assistant manager is a girl?" Both were clearly excited at that idea.
Frankly speaking, so was Jiyong, when he looked around to T.O.P and Youngbae they seemed equally curious.
"Yea, she's a girl, I still need to take care of some things, go take care what you need to do, but don't leave the building today until you meet her, okay?" he said, sitting down in his chair while shuffling through some paperwork on his desk.
They got up and walked out the door, "You think she's cute?" Seungri asked, "Is that all you think about?" countered Daesung, "Wouldn't surprise me." answered Jiyong. They continued walking through the office when they notice a woman sitting in front of the receptionist's desk, the receptionist got up and said, "You can go in now." She got up and began to bow, and suddenly Jiyong muttered, "There seems to be one here every day, a new wannabe," he didn't know where that came from, the girl looked honed enough to perform, she had the looks and managed the clothes pretty well, he had just said that on the spot. She looked at them once more bowed and headed towards the office. Jiyong was mildly relieved that she didn't hear him.
"What was with that?" T.O.P asked, "You never talk like that to anyone and how do you know she came here to be an idol, for all you know she could have been a friend or even a family friend."
"That just came out, I'm sorry, I wasn't thinking," Jiyong replied, it wasn't a lie, he really wasn't thinking. His mind was so preoccupied with the new music he was working on. It was supposed to be a love song, but the problem was love could be defined in a million ways, there was mother-daughter, father-son, mother-son, the list was endless. He wanted to create a song that could be accepted by all relations, not just a romantic version, there were plenty of those.
"We should head up and finish some the recording we still have," Taeyang interjected into his thoughts, "How's the new music coming along," he asked while walking.
"It's coming, still a bit stuck on some parts, but it'll work out," Jiyong answered, he knew he just needed the right inspiration, he needed to look harder.
Jiyong had been sitting in the empty recording studio for nearly two hours, trying to piece together the song, he was still having trouble, when he heard a knock on the door.
"The new assistant manager is here, Yang Sangnim wants us to meet her, come on," Youngbae said sticking his head through the door.
"Yea, let's go," Jiyong answered, he needed a break from the nothingness in his head.
"Relax, it'll come when it's ready, don't stress too much. You can take all the time you need, Sangnim said that this song can be put on the next album, which won't be a problem because it'll be about a month or two apart," Youngbae said, Jiyong appreciated the thought, but he wanted to get it done, he wanted people to listen to and relate to it. He didn't want his fans to wait for something he knew was in the making, but he also wanted to give them the best of his ability, so half-ass-ing it wasn't going to cut it.
"All of you are here, come on," Yang Sangnim said as he walked towards his office, apparently it was time to meet the new assistant manager, god-forbid she be a crazy fan girl. Jiyong loved his fans, but every once in a while he came across the really crazy ones, that would do anything to meet him, which also meant trying to make their way into the company. He just hoped this one was normal.
They were walking in when the girl was putting some papers on Yang Sangnim's desk and she asked, "Sir, I still had one more question to ask," she turned around to look at him, apparently not seeing the procession, "is it okay if I used an empty studio in the mornings?"
"Yea, that's not a problem, just be sure to stop by the HR department downstairs before you go, to take care of your employee id and things," Yang Sangnim answered while picking up the papers she had set on the desk. She finally noticed them coming in, her eyes becoming wide like an old skool record. Jiyong had been right, she was a crazy one.
"Annyeonghaseyo, my name is Nita," she said in fluent Korean, that made him do a double take, not only was she the same girl from earlier, but she spoke Korean, fluently. She sounded as if she were born and raised here. He looked around at the other members, who were also looking around at each other, apparently he hadn't been the only one thinking that.
"Guys, like she said, she's Nita, she will be your new live-in assistant manager. Be good to her and take care of her," Yang Sangnim said eye-balling me, Jiyong knew why, he was always the one most aloof, not because he didn't like people, but because at times he felt awkward, which often led people to think he was mean.
"Nita, you'll be looking after these guys, take good care of them, okay," Yang Sangnim said to her, his look was almost fatherly, almost like he was telling his daughter to do a good job and make him proud.
"Neh, Sangnim, I will," she answered, Jiyong heard a crack in her voice almost like she was a bit emotional, "Oh one more thing, Siwon said they'd be picking you up, to just give them a call, again welcome to YG." She bowed and immediately made her way to the door. So much for say hi to your co-workers.
"You don't think she heard what you said," Youngbae asked, "I didn't think she understood Korean, turns out she knows it pretty well," Youngbae pretty much summed up the situation, Jiyong was feeling guilty, he really didn't know where that comment came from, he started to wonder if she left because of that.
They were on their way back to the studios to finish their work, when they all noticed her talking on the phone, "We?" She then absentmindedly turned her phone off and just stood there. Her expression went from smiling to a sadness in minutes. Seungri tapped her shoulder to get her attention, she immediately snapped out of it, but didn't say anything, instead Seungri introduced himself, "Annyeonghaseyo, you left so quickly, we didn't get a chance to introduce ourselves, I'm Seungri," he said sticking his hand out to the girl, she took his hand, bowing, "that's Daesung," Daesung waved his hand, "Taeyang," he nodded, "Jiyong", he jutted out his chin, "and T.O.P hyung" he gave her a two figure salute. She looked at each one of us and started laughing, Seungri asked, "What's so funny?", at which point Jiyong started thinking about his run in with crazy fans, and couldn't help but wonder if he was tricked.
Just as she was about to turn around and leave when Daesung stopped her, " Jamkkan, I think I've seen you from somewhere?" he says, staring at her face. That wasn't going to make anyone feel uncomfortable. "You know what, I thought the same thing, Daesung," Seungri added, now there were two pairs of eyes just staring at her face.
"I saw all of you guys when you walked out of Sangnim's office the first time," she said, he couldn't recall her name, what was it, he thought. The look on her face said it all, she was thinking that both Seungri and Daesung had a couple of screws loose.
"No, no, no, no, I think I've seen you somewhere else," Seungri said. She looked at her phone for about the fourth time, it seemed like she was in a rush, "Can we talk about this later, I mean, I'm sorry, but I'd really like to finish taking care of everything with HR before I come to work tomorrow, miahnhae!" She started sprinting across the hallway.
"Now I'm sure she heard you," Youngbae turned to Jiyong, "she didn't even look towards you."
"Ya! She looked at me when Seungri said my name, she probably doesn't even remember," Jiyong said, really hoping that was the case.
"You wish," added T.O.P, which wasn't far from the truth.
