The rest of the Winter Court vacation seem to go by in a blink of an eye, I had a very good time with Sam and the Princesses and Princes shocked to have made friends with them and some of the other ‘younger’ Fae. While there was still a mysterious powerful air around them, I had settled in nicely though I knew I was being lulled into a false sense of security and ease that was as much for their own benefit as it was for mine. The Fae always had alternative motives but I had been happy to play ignorant in order to enjoy myself. I also kept as far away from the Queen as possible

Returning home was sad, I technically all together had been in Faerie for 6 days but the three week Christmas vacation was over and it was time to go home and get ready for school the next day.

Sam had returned home while I went over to Sean’s where I was currently sitting on the a chair in his room with the book Jake had given me. Sean was finishing up some holiday homework he had left for last minute.

“You know opening your eyes wider won’t make you read faster.”

I jerked my head up from what I had been reading before giving him a withering look, he laughed.

“Shocking but this stuff is so crazy amazing and scary. I still can’t believe I am doing this. Do you think I am over my head?”

“Way over,” he replied and made a show of being hit by the pillow I threw at him and falling to ground convulsing as he died.

“Ha ha ha, you are so not cute. Why am I dating you again?”

Sean tucked the pillow under his head before grinning at me where he now laid on the floor, “because I am devilish handsome, suave, sexy and you desperately want me.”

“I do, do I?” I smirked at him putting the book down and crawling towards him straddling him and leaned over him.

“Now why would I want such an arrogant, smug, devil may care vampire?”

He tugged my head to him and kissed my breath away, releasing me, leaving me panting.

“Because I can do that to you.”

I gave a mock vampire growl and started to get up but he grabbed me and rolled, I squeaked and laughed, while he pinned me to the floor tickling me with his hands and dropping kissing on my skin.

“Ok, ok your cute, sexy and suave and whatever else you want to be!” I exclaimed trying to wiggle away.

Sean laughed stopping his assault before wincing as his dad shouted at them.

“I CAN HEAR YOU TWO!!! WAIT UNTIL I AM NOT IN THE HOUSE BEFORE YOU GUYS START FOOLING AROUND! ALSO MAKE SURE YOU USE CONDOMS IF YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE SEX! I AM TOO YOUNG TO BE A GRANDFATHER!!!”

“Oh crap!” I sat up turning dark red, though part of me debating shouting back that a vampire couldn’t get me pregnant because of the whole different species thing, “I forget he was home…and the fact he is a vampire and can hear us. So can everyone here, oh my lollipop! Ugh…I better get home. Do you mind if I keep the book stashed here and study here?”

“Of course not, probably safer then your place. Come on let me take you home.”

The drive back to my house was silent each of us in our own heads thinking I watched my house get bigger before us as he arrived.

“Some holiday huh?” I asked as Sean parked in the driveway.

He nodded, “ya…crazy. Some good came out of it though.”

I felt myself blush as I studied him.

“I don’t want you staying here…not with him inside. Are you sure you wont stay at my place? My dad already said it was ok.”

I sighed and shook my head, we had argued over this when I had arrived in the morning.

“I am not going to hide from him nor be kicked out of my own home,” I stated firmly.

Sean sighed knowing he was going to loose the argument, “fine but call me if he tries anything and I will come get you or kick his butt whichever is needed.”

I kissed his cheek, “thank you. I’ll see you tomorrow at school.”

Climbing out of his car I looked up at my house, inside it was my enemy, my own flesh and blood who wanted me dead so he could rule the Pride. I had been suspicious of this since I was young but this was the first time he had been so forward in his attacks towards me and confirm my suspicions. It was out of the fire and into the frying pan. The question was who would be the one to burn?
