Chain of Lies

The sky darkens as night fell… I remained silent. The road was bumpy and I could barely make out where we were. Soon the car came to a halt. The men stepped out and one pushed me from behind. I followed them into what looked like an abandoned building. As the door open the smell of smoke filled the air. I coughed at the stench. From the outside the building looked like a crummy place, inside it was like a five star night club in Gangnam. Music banged loudly bouncing from one wall to another. I looked around slowly as I followed the men. There were men dressed in designer brands and women in revealing dresses. People all around danced, smoked, drank… in all my twenty four years of living I had never been to a club at all.

I accidently ran into a table as I looked up and my eyes meet with a man. His eyes smiled at me eccentrically. He was young and yet dressed in clothes that I had only ever seen in magazines, he also had two girls wrapped around his arms. “I’m sorry…” I apologized quickly. One girl dressed in a red mini skirt looked at me with a glare in her eyes and before I knew it. She kicked me over with her heel. Her heel dug into my shoulder. I whimpered in pain as she laughed and lean back into the young man’s arms. “GD Oppa, I got the cockroach.” She laughed and twirled her hair with he left hand. Before I could get up the man from behind me grabbed my hair again pulling me up. I never felt such resentment before in my life. I glared as I was dragged away by my hair.

I was flung into a room with other girls there and then men locked the room. I grabbed the knob and tried to pull it open, but after a while I gave up… I slump down. What are they going to do to me? Am I going to be killed? Sold? Shipped to another country? Tears poured down my eyes… father… what is going on here? As I sat blankly with tears streaming down my face. “Are you okay?” I looked up a young girl looked at me asking, I nodded even though nothing was okay. She was a cute baby faced girl with long black hair and large pearl eyes. “What’s going to happen to us here?” I finally grew the courage to ask. “I knew that you were new here, my name is Kang Sora, that tall girl over there her name is name is Jun Ji hyun, since you’re new she’ll explain.” Sora smiled. Ji Hyun was a tall lean woman with light brown hair to her waist. She had an indifferent look on her face as she looked out the barred window. “I’m sorry you’re here, but I can’t say much since I been here for a while also. You’re here to be sold to the highest bidder, this can only happen a couple of way, first you were either born into this life always living this way, two you were the daughter of someone who more likely met their end due to business bust, three you were bought and sent to be resold again like me and Sora, and the only last option is that you were kidnap which is highly unlikely.” Ji Hyun explained. Her words rung through my head… then that mean that of those options, option two applies to me… what did you really do for a living father?

It felt like I didn’t even know who he was. He was working with people like this… my heart sank. I’m being sold… auction off like a pig. “What’s your name?” Sora smiled snapping me back into reality. “Yu Bi…” I answered. “Nice to meet you” Sora smiled and hugged me. How can she be so happy… this is life… it was like trash now. “Sora…” I stutter “Why are you here…” Sora smiled and sat down next to me on the cold floor. “I was born into this life; my mother was a whore at a whorehouse. I don’t even know who my father is but I was first sold at age sixteen, I was resold again 2 or 3 time after that because I was boring from what my previous masters said. Haha… with Ji Hyun she was also born into this life, her father was huge drug ringer at the time, until he was caught and her mother was a famous club singer. Ji Hyun was one of the best dancers at strip.” Sora smiled “What about you?”

I didn’t know what to tell them, “My father owned a pawn store and I lived at college dorms for about 3 years, I don’t know what else he does.” I answered. Ji Hyun turned and looked at me “What did you say, Pawn store owner? Then… you’re…” she said surprised but just before she could finish the men came back out again and grabbed me by the arms. “Let’s go.” Ji hyun and Sora walked behind me as we stood on a stage. I looked over the stage lights shine; I raise my arm to block the shine of the lights. All around me were people and they all had the same look in their eyes. The look like I was an object, I never felt so belittled before.

“First we have our usual Kang Sora… do I hear 2 million?” The auction began. I glance over at Sora dancing and smiling as she advertised herself. “2 million.” A old man dress in a tacky suit bid, I cringe at the thought that. “4 Million” a younger good looking man smiled and blew a kiss her way. “7 million.” The old man yelled again. “10 million.” The younger man smiled, the older man huffed mad and sat down again. Sora ran over and hugged the younger man. “Sold to Seungri for 10 million dollars!” The announcer smiled. The man who bought Sora was a tiny slim man with a fox like face. Soon after Ji Hyun was up for bid as well, a younger man also purchased her for 15 million dollars. She was bought by a man with moon shaped eyes and a fair smile named Taeyang. I was shoved up to the plate this time. I tried to step back and thought I need to run for it. But my path was block by two huge men. I turned and watched, then he caught my eyes again, GD…

“We have someone special here, it’s Yeong-Gyu’s daughter, Lee Yu Bi!!!” Chatter filled in the room… how did they know my father’s name? Was my father truly someone known by these people? What did he do to get killed? I stood silent as the room filled with chatter. “We’ll start the bid at 10 million.” The announcer yell. Roars and sounds of people bidding filled the room intensely. Just then… out of the loud uproars, “1 Billion in paper.” I looked up at it was him… GD… “WOW! We have a new record. Sold! Come claim your prize.” Everyone surprised as much as I was. GD walked over to the stage and lifted my up my feet. I looked at his handsome face. He in return glance at me and a smirk cross his face. His intense eyes captured me as my heart skipped a beat.
