Broken Hearts and Crystal Tears

The next morning after waking up, the first thing Summer did was drive to the hospital. When she got in the parking lot, she thought she saw Kai’s car. What was he doing here? Summer blinked again, but the car was already gone. Must’ve been my imagination, she thought.

She ran to Minnie’s room. Minnie was awake when Summer came.

“Minnie! I missed you so much! Are you feeling better?” Summer said, out of breath.

Minnie smiled and responded “I’m feeling a little better. I still can’t sit up but I can at least stay awake for more than 5 minutes.”

The two chatted for a few more minutes, before Summer needed to leave for practice.

~Exo’s dorms~
Kai woke up early the next day. He quickly got dressed and snuck out of the dorms.

Sehun heard and saw Kai leave, but he was too lazy to follow Kai to wherever he was going.

Sehun went back to sleep, as he saw Kai’s shadow slip onto the cold and silent streets.

~Minnie’s POV~
In my sleep, I dreamed that the door opened to my hospital room. I heard footsteps drawing closer and closer until it stopped by my bed. That person just stood there.

Then a voice whispered in my ear. “Even when you’re sleeping you’re cute. Why did I have to fall for you? I love you Jung Min Rin.” I froze in my dreams. That voice sounded way too familiar. Could it be?! No, that’s impossible...he probably likes someone else. Definitely not me. “Minnie,” his voice spoke by my ear again. “Minnie,” he repeated again, “Get better soon. I love you.”

As the footsteps retreated, my eyes flashed open. Shaken by what just happened, I couldn’t fall back asleep. I reached for the lamp and turned it on. There was no sign of anyone being there. It was just a dream, just a dream, I thought repeatedly. But deep down, I knew it wasn’t a dream.

I tried to alter the scene into a dream, but I knew that the facts couldn’t be changed and I soon fell asleep.

~SM building~
Summer got back to the SM building, ate breakfast with the rest of the SUGAR members, then walked to the Exo dorm rooms. She knocked on the door, and Chanyeol opened the door. “Is Sehun here? May I speak to him?” she asked.

Chanyeol raised his eyebrows then shouted “Wae! Sehun! Someone needs to talk to you. What did you do this time?!”

Sehun walked to the door, hair still messy. “What do you wa--Oh. Hey Summer.”

“Good morning. May I talk to you?”

“Sure.” Sehun closed the door. “What’s up?”

"So um… this morning...were you following me?”

“Hmm? When?”

“At around 3 in the morning, were you following me to my dorm?”

“Oh...er...yeah. I guess I was caught.”

“And why were you following me?”

“Well it was late at night, and I saw you and Kai outside. I was curious, so I went outside, and you were heading back to your dorm when I got outside. It was dark and I just wanted to make sure that nothing happened. You saw what happened to Minnie...and I didn’t want that to happen you so I followed you.”

Summer stood there for a second and didn’t say anything. She couldn’t tell if he was telling the truth or not. Maybe it was a half truth. Sehun sighed, and rubbed his hand through his hair.

“I promise, I just wanted to make sure that you were safe.”

Summer nodded, and ran out the dorm. But as she left, she overheard Sehun talking again.

“Yeollie hyung, I just really love her and want to keep her safe.”

Summer stopped mid-step, and kept on listening to what Sehun was saying.

“She’s so gentle, she could break anytime. I don’t want anything bad happen to her.”

Summer’s eyes widened and she shook her head. Was she hearing things? But her ears were perfectly fine… She continued running, not stopping until she got to her dorm. What was she going to tell Minnie? MINNIE was the one who had a crush on Sehun. In fact, it wasn’t even a crush anymore. It was love.

Summer knew that Sehun liking her could end her friendship with Minnie.

During training with Exo, she kept on thinking about Sehun, and looking his way.

But she liked Kai. And Minnie liked Sehun.

Everytime she glanced at Sehun, he was looking her way.

Sehun was oblivious about the fact that Summer overheard him talking to Chanyeol, and smiled at Summer often.

Summer returned a weak smile each time, but was very worried deep down.

After practice, Summer couldn’t contain it any longer. She rushed to the hospital.

“Hey Summer!” Minnie’s bright voice called out.

“Uh, hey M-Minnie.” Summer suddenly wasn’t very sure of what she should do.

“Is everything alright?” Minnie knew Summer too well.

Summer pasted a smile on her face. “Yes, of course!”

Minnie smiled in relief, and said, “Oh, ok. You were looking like something was really bothering you.”

Summer quickly said, “I was just worried about you being in the hospital. I wanted to check on you as quickly as I could.”

~Summer’s POV~
Why don’t I want to tell her? She’s my best friend. I should tell her. But that might end our friendship. No...it’s better to tell the truth. I’ll wait to see what she says.

“So Summer, have you talked to Kai lately?” I shook my head. “Not really. He’s been pretty busy.”

Minnie smiled. “Summer, have you seen Sehun?” I inhaled. “I haven’t seen him in a long time. I wish he could visit me more in the hospital,” Minnie continued. I exhaled.

Good. I don’t think she knows yet.

“Well, um, he’s been having a pretty busy schedule.” I scrambled for excuses to make up. “Oh, and um, I’ll tell him to visit you tomorrow.”

Minnie grinned and said, “You’re such a great friend Summer! I love you!”

I smiled weakly and turned around.

She’ll be heartbroken by what’s going to happen.
