Broken Hearts and Crystal Tears

The next two weeks were spent on filming several more teasers. SUGAR finally got a 3-day break, which Minnie was very glad of.

~Minnie’s POV~
“Hey, what do you want to do today?” asked Kai.

“Well, I would just like to relax. Just stay inside and not go anywhere,” I said.

“How about playing video games and having a movie marathon?”

“Sure...except that I SUCK at video games,” I said with a laugh.

Kai winked and said, “I’ll be your cute video game tutor.”

He swept me off my feet and ran to his dorm room while carrying me in his arms. He plopped me on the couch and sat next to me, one arm around my neck.

“So...how would you like to play Halo Reach? You must know at least how to play Halo Reach right?”

I shook my head slowly, “No...I’ve only seen my brother play it a few times. I have no idea what it’s about or anything.”

Kai raised his eyebrows, “Really? Well then we better get some started because you have lots of learning to do.”

Kai explained the basic purpose of the game, but I was still confused. He then showed me how to shoot other people.

“Here, you try.”

I held up the controller, and I rotated it in my hands. “Uh...I forgot how to do it,” I said while blushing.

Kai tried to keep a straight face, but I could tell he was trying his best not to laugh out loud. He scooted closer to me and I could feel my body tingling. Then he put his large hands around mine, guiding them on the controller.

“Here, like this,” he said. I could feel his warm breath on my neck, and a slight shiver ran down my spine.

He wrapped his right hand around mine and showed me how to shoot, and how to switch weapons. He guided my left hand and helped me move around. When it seemed like I could probably play without killing myself, Kai let go and sat right next to me, his controller in his gentle and soft hands.

Kai’s character killed mine in less than a minute, but Halo Reach was pretty fun. When Kai got up to turn off the Xbox machine, I whined, wanting to play more.

Kai laughed. “Let’s talk for a while.” I nodded. That sounded pretty good too.

“How do you keep going? With all your promotions and shows, you all seem pretty tired. But you always have a smile on your face, and perform to your best ability. Exo must be aliens,” I said, legitimately curious.

“Before my reason would be that dancing, singing and performing is my life.” I nodded, remembering two of his quotes; “I’m going to give every last bit of my passion for dance to Exo. I want to help in letting the world know the sound of Korea,” and “I’d have no regrets dying on stage.”

I smiled thinking about how dedicated Kai is, when he said, “but now, my motivations have slightly changed.” I raised an eyebrow, and I thought I was hearing things.

“I keep going because I know that when I get back, you’ll be here waiting for me. Everytime I think of you, which is almost every moment, energy surges inside me, making me want to dance. I know that you might watch the videos or performances, so I must do my best.”

I smiled. “That’s sweet.”

Awkward silence.

I spoke up again. “I want to try something out Kai. Do you think we can be together?”

Kai cocked his head. “Well, didn’t SM already give us that job?”

I pursed her lips. “I mean like...as a relationship that’s not only controlled by SM.”

Kai did not believe his ears. His mouth gaped open, and he leaned forward. “Are you serious? Like ACTUALLY serious?” He almost ran a lap around the room, before he realized that I was laughing at him.

“Kai, you’re so cute when you’re excited.”

He pouted cutely. “Don’t call me cute.” I giggled again. “Come here, oppa.”

Kai edged closer to me, almost touching shoulders with me.

He paused for a second. “You aren’t only doing this because you feel bad for me right...because if you are I don’t want to be rude and make you like me.”

I shook my head. “No, Kai...what I said before is true. I actually like you.”

“I definitely do not like you,” Kai said.

I looked down, confused and taken aback by his directness. “W-what do you mean? You don’t…?”

Kai cupped my chin with his soft hands and tilted my head up so that his eyes felt like they were looking straight through my soul.
He kissed me, softly and gently. It sent warmth running through my body. He pulled back slowly and said, “I don’t like you, I love you, Jung Min Rin. And I am the world’s most luckiest man to be able to fall in love with you.”

I suddenly had a rush of emotions, and I flung my arms around his neck. He returned the action and put his arms around my waist. I pulled back and I was on the verge of crying.

“Minnie, what’s wrong?” Kai asked, his eyebrows furrowed.

He looks so cute when he’s worried. “N-nothing. It’s just that, no guy has truly loved me before. And it’s the first time...so I’ve pretty emotional right now. I just never expected that someone like you would ever love me, and I feel like the luckiest girl in the world.”

Kai smiled and shook his head. “I just don’t understand, how can anyone not love you?”

My face fell. “Well...some particular oppas with the name Oh Sehun sure don’t...but that doesn’t matter. Because I have you.” I leaned into his chest, and inhaled his scent of cologne and breathed out calmly. I looked up at him, and kissed him gently on his cute nose.

~Kai’s POV~
Minnie lay her head on my shoulder and she closed her eyes. She looked so pretty and delicate, and I felt that it was my duty to protect and lover her.

I stroked her soft, black hair and soon, I could hear her breath even out. I carried her to my bed and covered her body with a blanket.

~Minnie’s POV~
I woke up and looked around. The room was unfamiliar, but the smell was. I recognized Kai’s cologne scent. I rubbed my eyes and sat up. There was someone sitting on the chair nearby. At first I thought it was a stranger and I almost had a heart attack.

“AAHH!”

The figure jolted awake and stood up immediately. “What’s wrong? What happened? Minnie, are you okay?!”

I finally realized that it was just Kai, and I burst out laughing.

“What’s so funny?”

“HAHA never-ha-mind. I thought-haha-you were-haha-you totally me freaked out! HAHAHA!”

“Um...okay. Now that you’re awake, you want to eat some lunch? It’s already 12:30. We can order some fried chicken.”

“Sure, that’d be great.”

~30 mins later~
We got the chicken, and Kai immediately took apart the container and dug in. I was shocked and terrified that someone could eat so quickly. He had already eaten a whole fried chicken by the time I had only eaten a few drumsticks!

“Wae! Why are you not eating? Are you not hungry? Is chicken not your style? You’re not dieting are you? You’re so skinny, you should be eating more!”

“Um its not that. You just eat so...quickly.”

Kai’s face lit up. “One day, I must beat Sehun for the Chicken Mania title. This is my chance to prove myself!”

I laughed at his silliness. He put his arm around my shoulder and gently kissed my forehead. I put my hand in his and squeezed his hand. He whispered, “Your hand is so perfect, Minnie.” I smiled. “Your heart is even more perfect.” He pulled me in a hug and we stayed there for a minute, enjoying the moment.
