Paradise

I spent the first week checking each corner of the house and noting all the needed changes.
Living there was a bit different from what I expected; the house was very neat, more like a museum with all that old furniture. It was like an antiquity for me, I don’t think that I have the heart to replace it especially when it’s still in a good state.


That day was a Sunday, I woke up early and started planning for the new design of the kitchen. MyungSoo got up much more later.
-I’m hungry!! He shouted with his eyes half closed opening the fridge.
-Good morning sleepy head! I said while thinking how cute he was when he first wakes up; messy hair, husky voice and bad temper, but as soon as he heard my voice a wide smile took over and his eyes magically opened.
-Good morning honey!! He said while back-hugging me.
-Go wash up and I’ll prepare the breakfast for you.
-No need to, I’ll be late.
-Going somewhere? I turned to him.
-I discovered a picturesque site not too far away! If I could make it before midday I would have a beautiful shot, it would be a nice add to my collection, do you want to come?
-Sorry, I have a lot of work that I must finish today. But there’s always next time, right?
-Okay… But next time I’ll make sure to drag you with me!
And then he went upstairs to change, ten minutes later he showed up nicely dressed, holding a weird old key.
-Look what I’ve found in my drawer, it’s not yours right?
-It’s my first time seeing it, maybe the old lady forgot it in here.
-She said she only left the things that was in the house when she first bought it.
-Then it belongs to the original owner.
-And now ours! I like vintage items!
-It can add a nice touch to your car, since both of them are old! I said teasing him.
-Now that’s a good idea! I’ll do it on my way!
-Be careful honey, I said while kissing him on the cheek.
-Don’t worry, I’ll come back by dinner time. He said as he walked out the door.

I got back to work as soon as he left, not realizing the running time neither the pouring rain outside, until my ringing phone interrupted my concentration. The name “My Sunshine” showed up
-Miss me already?! I asked mischievously.
-Oh, hello! A stranger voice answered.
-Oh! Who are you? Where’s MyungSoo? Iwas so embarrassed.
-I’m sorry to tell you this but…, there was a long pause. The phone owner got into a car accident, he’s in the hospital right now.

My whole body suddenly weakened and started shaking, I couldn’t breathe anymore, and my voice was cracking as I managed to ask: “How is he?”
And he answered with the words I feared the most: “He didn’t make it. I’m sorry for your lost…”
