Chapter Four

"How do you feel?"

That one sentence was the same thing she heard, every morning when she managed to get out of bed and fall onto the couch. Really, the hotel room was more like a tiny apartment.
However, when she got up one particular morning, she was taken by surprise to find the entire place empty.
Blinking, she made her way into the kitchen area, finding a post-it note on the fridge.
Hey. I hope you'll be fine until I get back - I had to run some quick errands. Text one of the boys when you wake up, if I'm not back by then - Sehun
Choyin laughed quietly. It was probably a good thing he'd gone over with her what she'd saved each boy as in her phone - otherwise she'd just sit around doing nothing for who knows how long.
Biting her lip, she made her way back into the bedroom area and grabbed her phone, resting on the bed. Choosing Xiumin's name, she wrote, Are you awake yet, oppa?
Xiumin's reply came seconds later, and she heard Exo-M's door open, then close. Yeah, one second.
She waited on her bed for a few moments, half expecting a text asking to be let in.
Instead, the door clicked open, then closed, and Kim Minseok's voice rang through the front room. "Choyin-ah?"
"One moment!" She stood up and made her way out of the room, slightly out of breath by the time she reached the eldest boy in Exo. "Hey, Xiumin."
Xiumin gave her a small smile, gesturing to the couch. "You're probably hungry."
Choyin blushed, looking down as she nodded. "Kinda."
Xiumin chuckled. "Go sit down. It'll be done in just a few." He paused for a minute, as if he were thinking, then added, "I'm no chef though. You should of texted Kyungsoo if you wanted something other than toast."
Choyin laughed, the sound bouncing off the walls lightly. "Toast is fine, Baozi." She blinked, confusion taking over. Baozi?
Xiumin turned around, evident surprise on his face. "You remembered the nickname you guys gave me?"
Choyin pursed her lips. "Apparently." The smallest smile appeared on her face, and she looked up at her friend. "It's a start, at least."
Xiumin chuckled, looking away. "True. Go sit down - I'll have your toast ready soon." He turned on his heel and walked out, and Choyin hobbled to the couch. Sitting down gently, she curled up, closing her eyes, silently willing the lost memories to come back.

The door opened, then closed, but Choyin ignored it. The sound of muffled footsteps came closer and closer to her until they stopped just in front of her, and gentle lips were pressed to her forehead.
Her eye peeked open, but Sehun was already turning away. A small blush worked its way onto her cheeks, and she hummed quietly, curling up more.

"How long has she been asleep?"
Xiumin turned around at Sehun's voice as the latter put a grocery sack on the counter, a frown settling on his face. "She's sleeping? She was just awake a few minutes ago!" he whined, causing the maknae to laugh quietly.
"You should keep an eye on her. She's probably drowsy from the pain medications." His happiness faded slightly, and he turned to his hyung. "Why did it have to happen to her?" he murmured, his helplessness showing in his voice.
Xiumin glanced at the youngest boy in Exo. "It could have been anyone, Sehun. She just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time."
Sehun let out a shaky breath and ran his hand over his face, tossing his hat to the table. "I guess." He glanced at the food he'd bought, placed it in the fridge, then made his way back out of the kitchen area. Choyin was sitting up and rubbing her eyes, a yawn falling from her lips.
"Sehun." Her voice was relieved, and he felt his heart soar.
He turned towards her, a small smile forming on his lips. "How was your nap?"
Choyin blushed. "It was alright. Is Xiumin still here?" Excitement filled her voice, and Sehun let out a small chuckle.
"Yes."
Choyin clapped her hands together. "I remembered that we call Xiumin Baozi sometimes."
Genuine happiness flitted from her, but Sehun couldn't bring himself to share it. First Luhan, then Xiumin. What if she remembered something about him last? "That's great," he murmured, smiling as much as he could make himself.
Choyin bit her lip gently, knowing something was up. "Sehun-ah?"
He met her eyes almost shyly, not keeping contact for long. "Yes?"
Choyin looked down at her hands in her lap. "Can we...go out tonight?" she asked hesitantly.
Sehun blinked, surprise taking him. "What do you mean?"
Choyin blushed, looking the opposite way. "Like-like a date," she mumbled. "So I can get to know you more, again."
Sehun blinked again, a sliver of happiness slicing through the down mood he'd had all morning. "If you'd like to, I can arrange for that," he murmured softly.
Choyin's eyes found him, and she bit her bottom lip. "Thank you."
Sehun smiled, reaching up to scratch his ear gently. "No worries."
Choyin looked down shyly for a moment before patting the seat next to her. "Please?"
Sehun chuckled, but obliged, blinking in surprise when she curled up against his side. "Are you feeling alright?"
Choyin blushed, grabbing his hand and playing with his long fingers. "Yes. I'm just...in that kind of mood right now," she mumbled, turning to look up at him. "That probably makes no sense."
Sehun chuckled and curled his fingers around hers, relishing in the moment while it lasted. "You're fine."
Choyin let a small smile form on her lips and turned her attention back to his fingers, bending them this way and that.

"Hey, Choyin-ah, do you want - um...am I interrupting..?" Xiumin trailed off, his eyebrow arching.
He wasn't exactly expecting to find Choyin with her head on Sehun's lap, playing with his fingers.
Choyin blushed, turning to hide her face in Sehun's waist shyly.
Sehun laughed quietly, squeezing her hand gently. "No. What did you want, hyung?" Curiosity shone in his voice and eyes, and Choyin peeked out.
Xiumin scratched his head slightly. "Are you sure? Cos I can just leave right now - "
"Hyung-ah," Sehun whined, narrowing his eyes slightly.
Xiumin smiled, swinging his arms back and forth. "What do you want on your toast, Choyin?"
Choyin turned back to meet his gaze, thinking. "Butter should be fine."
Xiumin nodded, not wasting any time to leave the room.

Sehun opened the door to the restaurant just wide enough for Choyin to get through, resting his palm on the small of her back. Fans stood no more than three feet away, clicking photos on their phones and shouting. No doubt they would race to be the first person to upload them onto SNS.Sighing, he led the way to the private table he'd reserved, catching a young waiter's attention. He trailed behind them, holding a couple of menus.
As Sehun and Choyin took their seats, the waiter passed the menus out, his focus on Choyin. "Would you like anything to drink?"
Choyin looked up. "Water's fine," she murmured, smiling slightly.
The waiter blushed and nodded, reluctantly turning his attention to Sehun. "And you?"
Sehun ignored the tone change - it happened almost every time he took Choyin out for dinner, and if it she wasn't the one being flirted with, he was. "I'll take water too."
The waiter nodded and left, returning moments later with their drinks.

"So what do you want to do now?"
Choyin closed her eyes. They were outside Sehun's car, his arms wrapped tightly around her. "I don't know.." she murmured, tucking her head into his neck.
Sehun smiled, resisting the urge to press his lips against her forehead. "Do you want to go back to the hotel room then?"
Choyin nodded, stiffling a yawn against his chest. Sleep sounded amazing.

With Sehun's help, she got into the car comfortably, closing her eyes and falling asleep before he could even start the car.

Later that night, Choyin woke with a jolt. It was pitch black, the only light in the room being the alarm clock. She didn't even remember getting into her pajamas, much less getting into bed.
"I love you, Choyin-ah."
The words floated around in her mind, Sehun's voice loud and clear, as if he'd just murmured it to her.

Quietly, she flicked the switch to the lamp on, its dim glow lighting up the room. Sehun's face came into view from across the room, facing her and peacefully sleeping.
Taking a deep breath, Choyin got out of her bed and got on her hands and knees, crawling over to him, careful not to let her foot hit the ground. His warm breath fanned over her face when she made no attempt to crawl into bed with him, settling for sitting on the ground next to the bed, her head next to his instead.

Her hair must have tickled his face, because two seconds after she closed her eyes, Sehun murmured, "What are you doing out of bed?"
Choyin jumped, turning to meet his gaze. "I had a dream," she mumbled, resting her chin on her arms.
Sehun hummed, closing his eyes slightly. "What kind of dream?"
Choyin shrugged, even though he couldn't see her. "I don't really know," she stated, honesty shining in her voice.
Sehun smiled slightly before scooting over. "You shouldn't sleep on the floor, Choyin-ah."
She nodded, shivering slightly. Choyin-ah. Just like in her dream. Shyly, she asked, "Can we share...a bed?"
Without hesitating, Sehun lifted the covers, shifting back to make room for her. However, he did hesitate when he let the covers fall down, his arm hovering over her waist.
Choyin closed her eyes, tucking her face into his neck as she wrapped a single arm around his torso. "Goodnight, Sehun-ah."

Sehun closed his eyes tightly, letting his arm land on her waist gently. "Goodnight."

Choyin woke with a start, her hand instantly flying to her waist where Sehun's arm had been the night before.
Nothing.
Sighing, she rolled over and checked for him, not surprised when the bed was empty.
Feeling something tug at her heart, she slid out of the bed and crawled - literally - to her own side of the room, where her crutches were.
A grunt of annoyance left her lips when she couldn't haul herself up onto her good foot, and she leaned back against the bed, gasping for air. "Oppa!" she called, closing her eyes slightly.
The hotel room's floor shook slightly from his running footsteps, and Sehun appeared in the doorway. "Are you hurt?" he asked almost immedietly, rushing to her side.
Choyin shook her head, her eyes fluttering open. "I can't get up," she mumbled, pouting at him slightly.
Sehun's worry lines on his forehead faded, and he chuckled quietly. "You're stuck on the ground." It came out as a humored statement, and Choyin let out a small laugh.
"I guess I am," she murmured, setting her crutches aside. She wrapped her arms around his neck as he helped her up, not bothering to let go once she was stable on her foot. "Sehun?"
He turned his head towards her, leaning back slightly at their closeness. He wanted to kiss her more than anything - he wanted everything to go back to the way it was before her accident. Clearing his throat, he murmured a, "Yes?"
Choyin rested her head on his shoulder at stared at his chiseled features. She wanted to tell him about the dream she'd had, that made her want to sleep in his arms, but a blush rose to her cheeks when his eyes met her own, and she looked away. "N-nothing."
Sehun had to have heard the tremble in her voice, but chose not to push the topic. Nodding slightly, he helped her with her crutches and lead the way back into the common room. "Lee said we could move back into our own home tomorrow," he murmured.
Choyin fell back onto the couch. "So my doctor finally has all the paperwork on my foot?" she asked, pulling him down next to her.
Sehun let a small smile form on his lips and looked down at her casted limb. "Yeah. You have one last appointment with this doctor today, and then we need to start packing."
Choyin nodded and tossed an arm around his shoulders, startling him. "Sehun-ah?"
Sehun fought back a shiver, turning to look at her. "Choyin, are you -"
Before he could say anything else, she crashed her lips onto his, putting every ounce of emotion she'd felt over the last few days into the kiss. Every apology she couldn't say, every hope she had, the sadness of knowing she was hurting him with every joke he tried to share to lift the mood.

Sehun remained frozen under her, and she shifted, pulling away from him slightly. "Sehun, please -"
This time, it was his turn to cut her off. Making sure her foot wouldn't hit anything, he pulled her onto his lap so she'd straddle him and pulled her face down towards his, locking lips in a fierce battle. Wetness stained her cheeks from his tears, but neither payed any attention as Choyin's joined in.
"I'm sorry," she gasped, gripping his hair in her fists.
Sehun shook his head and caught her lips in his once more, pulling away only to rest his forehead against her own and murmur, "It's not your fault."
Choyin's lips trembled, and she brushed a tear off his cheek with her thumb. "My dream last night. You said you loved me," she mumbled, closing her eyes tightly.
It was Sehun's turn to wipe away tears. "What happened in the dream? The whole thing?" he asked quietly, his heart thumping loudly.
Choyin turned her head to the side and shook her head, tucking it into his neck. "I don't know." She sighed and let her hands fall from his hair, relaxing on his lap, wrapping her arms around his waist.

Disappointment clouded Sehun's mind, and he hummed quietly, not saying anything. All he could think of was what would happen if she didn't remember anything, even if he'd been promised she would. A doctor couldn't control amnesia, it was different for every person.
"Choyin-ah?"
Choyin shivered slightly, feeling his arms wrap around her tightly. "Hmm?"
Sehun hesitated. "We - we should eat something and get ready. Your appointment's in an hour." Of course, that's not what he wanted to say, but what choice did he have, if he didn't want to scare her away before she could actually remember anything?

Choyin squinted her eyes at him, but didn't push the matter. "Alright." Crawling off his lap rather awkwardly, she grabbed her crutches and hobbled to the kitchen.
