"Dimsum!!" I yell at my best friend, Mark.
"I told you to stop calling me that in public" he says, embarrassed.
"Sorry, Dimsum!" I say, laughing. He drags me from the center of the shopping centre to a little corner. He then starts giving me a lecture on how he isn't and doesn't look like a dimsum.
"My face doesn't look like a dimsum, I am not steamed and obviously not eaten!!" he says, frustrated.
"Sorry....Mark" I say, genuinely sorry because I hated seeing my best friend feeling down because of me.
He smiles at me and drags me out from the corner and we continue our shopping trip. Okay....my shopping trip. No way would Mark ever want to go on a shopping trip but I made him come along to carry my shopping bags. And bonus, we get to hang around with each other.
We are sitting at the food court, having some burgers and chips after the 4 hours of my shopping and Mark's pleas for me to stop. I suddenly see a pair of soft brown eyes looking at me from another table. I glance over at him and he turns around like he wasn't looking. I study his light brown eyes, his hair that would gently fall over his eyes whenever he talked or smiled, and then I realised that I was falling for him......hard. He looked exactly like my type and bonus, I was looking for a boyfriend anyway. Mark notices me looking at something and follows my line of view.
"Really?" he says.
"What!?!?!" I yell, annoyed.
"Stop staring at that guy so much"
"Why do you care who I stare at?" I say.
He goes back to eating, annoyed and I go back to staring at 'brown eyes'
'Brown eyes' suddenly stands up and makes his way over to our table.
He held out his hand, "We haven't met yet, I'm Brandon Taylor".
Dear Lord that voice could warm me on the coldest day of the year, "_________, nice to meet you".
"Mind of I join you and your.......???" he asks.
"Best friend!" I practically yell at him.
"Great! I thought it wouldn't be very good to join you two if he was your boyfriend".
"Yeh!" I say, laughing.
Mark glares at him and I kick him from under the table.
"Ouch..." Marks says quietly.
A few guys yell at Brandon to hurry up or they were going to be late.
"Well....gotta go, mind if i get your number? We could go for coffee or something like that" he asks.
"Yeh, I'd like that" I says and give him my number.
"See you around, I'll call you?" he asks.
"Sure!" I reply and he walks away
I breathe out. "Isn't he amazing, Mark??" I ask.
"Absolutely not.." he replies quietly.
"Mark! You're are best friend! You should support me in who I like!!!!" I say.
"Fine......but he's an idiot!!"
"How can you even say that? You've barely talked to him and you are already calling him an idiot???" I say, my anger gauge rising, dangerously.
"..........."
"I'm gonna go, Mark, see you sometime else!" I say, annoyed and leave.
The next day
My phone vibrates and GOT7's Stop Stop it comes on as my ringtone. I started to freak out because I made Brandon's phone number that song ringtone. I calmed myself down and picked up the phone.
"Hello?" I say
"Hey....."
"Hey, Brandon!"
"Hello to you too!"
"So..what's up?"
I just wanted to ask you a question" he says
"Sure, go ahead" I say
"Is there anything going on with you and Mark??" he asks
"No....why?"
"Nothing...." he says
"Brandon, what happened?" I ask
"Mark called me and told me to back away from you because you were his" he says.
"He's just being protective, I think"
"It sounds more than that _________"
"There's nothing going on between us, so don't worry!"
"So...I don't need to back away from you???"
"I hope you don't......" I say.
"Great! Then let's go to this Friday night party together" he says
"Okay! See you then" I say
"Yep....I'll pick you up at about 6, see ya" he says and hangs up.
I dial Mark’s number and he picks up in 4 rings.
“Yello????” he says in a lazy tone.
“What the heck, Mark!!!!!!! Why did you tell Brandon to stay away from me because I was ‘yours’” I yell at him.
“You really don’t know?” he says.
“Yes…”
“I’ve been in love with you since we first met…”
“What!?!?!?!?!?” I yell into the phone.
And he hangs up.
I run out of my room and into the kitchen.
"Mom!!!! I'm going to Mark's place. I'll be back in time for dinner" I say and make my way out of the house.
I stop, turn around and run back into the house. "Mom.....did you know that Mark's in love with me??" I ask.
"Of course hon, who doesn't?" she replies.
"Me!!!! Well I gotta go, see ya mom" I say and run back out of the house.
When I finally get to Mark's place, Mark's mom greets me with a cheery hello and a big smile.
"Hello ______!!!! Are you here to see Mark??" she asks.
"Yes, is he in his room?" I ask
"Yes, I think so.." she replies.
I make my way up the giant flight of stairs and I stand silently outside Mark's bedroom door.
"Mark.....I realized that after you told me you were in love with me, I have feelings for you too, but I just didn't notice them" I say to the door hoping he was inside.
"Really??" I hear him say.
"Yes, really??" I reply, laughing. "Now open the door, Dimsum!"
I hear his cheeky laugh and he opens the door and pulls me into a hug.
"I love you _____" he says.
"Me too, Mark, me too...." I say and he pulls away from the hug and touches his lips with mine. So quickly and lightly that I thought I had imagined it.
