My Peter Pan

Chapter Eleven

When Mrs. and Mr. Zhang came home, they certainly weren't expecting to find Lay and Yuna passed out on the couch, Lay's head on Yuna's lap, and the end credits of She's The Man playing on the TV.
Mr. Zhang moved to wake them up, not comfortable with how close his son was to the girl, only stopped by his wife, giving him a stern look. "Remember when we were like that?" she asked, slipping into Korean, so her husband would understand better.
Mr. Zhang pursed his lips. "I don't like how close they are."
Mrs. Zhang rolled her eyes. "Oh well. They're just friends - Yixing knows she's having a rough time getting over Chen."

The smell of food woke Lay up.
Disoriented, he sat up, blinking when he found that his pillow was Yuna.
A small blush worked its way onto his cheeks as his eyes ghosted over her expression, which was, for the first time today, peaceful.
"Zhang Yixing, are you awake yet?"
He flinched inwardly at his mother's voice - she must've seen him and Yuna asleep together. Someone had to have, the TV was now off.
Getting up, he walked into the kitchen, headed to the cabinet. "Yeah, Mom?"
She turned, looking up at her son. "How come Yuna's here?"
Lay drained his cup, setting it in the sink. "She's lonely. Chen isn't exactly being supportive or anything," he replied bitterly, glancing into the other room. "I should make her more comfortable..."
Mrs. Zhang followed his gaze. Yuna's head wasn't in the most favorable position - cocked to one side, angled harshly. "You like her a lot, don't you?"
Lay pursed his lips. "Mom.." He glanced at her, catching her stern gaze.
"Just..treat her right, okay? I like Yuna." Turning back to the food on the stove, Mrs. Zhang ignored her son.
Sighing, Lay walked back into the living room area, gently lifting Yuna's top half, and settling her down in a more comfortable position. Just as he was about to leave, her hand caught his.
"Lay-ssi?"
He smiled lightly, turning back to her. "Did I wake you up?"
She nodded, rubbing her eye like a little kid. "What smells good?"
Chuckling, Lay sat down on the floor next to the couch, resting his head next to hers. "Mom's cooking something - she's trying another American recipe."
Yuna laughed lightly, glancing out the window. "I should get home...it's getting a little late."
Lay brushed some hair away from her face. "I'll go with you."
She nodded, sitting up. "I just need to freshen up a bit, and then I'll be ready."

"I'll be here for school tomorrow, alright?"
Yuna laughed quietly. "Lay, it's Saturday tomorrow."
A chuckle escaped Lay's lips. "I suppose that's right, isn't it?" He thought for a moment, an idea popped into his head. "I'll be here by noon tomorrow to pick you up. It's a surprise." Smiling teasingly, he turned away, waving once. "Be ready!"
Yuna blinked. "But - Lay!"
He turned at her voice, smiling slightly. "Yeah?"
"What should I wear?" A blush hit her cheeks, and she bit her lip shyly.
Lay thought for a moment. "I haven't seen you in a dress yet. Try that. It's supposed to be warm tomorrow, Yunes."
She scrunched up her nose cutely. "It's been warm since I moved here, Lay."
He laughed. "You'll get used to it. Noon." Turning away, he walked back home.

Noon came quickly, in Yuna's opinion, and she dressed in a cute sundress, putting on minimal makeup. She slipped on a pair of ballet flats and put her hair up in a messy bun, leaving a few strands stray.
Ding.
Smiling slightly, she looked at the clock out of habit - something she'd done every time Chen came to pick her up.
Two minutes early.
A small laugh left her lips as she made her way downstairs and to the door, finding Lay there, holding something she would have never expected - a small bundle of cherry blossom flowers.
Shock covered her features, and she threw her arms around Lay. "How did you get these?" she whispered, pulling away halfway to look at the flowers she'd come to miss.
Lay smiled slightly at her reaction. "The store had them, not sure why. So I got a couple."
She took the flowers from him, smiling shakily. "I really missed these." She sniffed the flowers before turning back inside. She made her way to the kitchen and grabbed an empty vase. Filling it with water, she placed the flowers in it and settled them behind the faucet, where they wouldn't be in the way.
Turning back to Lay, who had followed her inside, Yuna hugged him again. "Thank you so much," she murmured, burying her face into his chest.
Lay chuckled. "Maybe I'll just bring some every time I come over," he joked lightly.
Yuna giggled, detaching herself from him shyly. "You spoil me," she whined.
Lay poked her nose. "You like it. Come on, I don't want someone to take our place." Smiling softly, he grasped her hand gently, pulling her to his car. "Close your eyes, and no peeking!"
Yuna laughed quietly, feeling childish as she did so.

The drive was only ten minutes. Lay got out of the car without saying a word, but Yuna's hands remained over her eyes as he helped her out, leading her across grass.
At the sound of running water, she hesitated.
"Just a few more steps...okay, you can look now."
Yuna peeked before slowly dropping her hands. Blinking, she took in the scenery while Lay stood nervously behind her.

A picnic basket sat behind a tree, totally obscured from view for the passerby, and just a couple of yards in front of it sat a large lake.
She turned to Lay. "You are so spoiling me," she said, pushing his shoulder lightly.

Her voice was teasing, but Lay could tell from her eyes that she was touched. Smiling, he pulled her towards the the basket. "I hope you haven't eaten already."
A small laugh left Yuna's lips. "No, I was considering it though." She took the sandwich he offered her, taking a bite. "Ham and cheese?" she guessed.
Lay smiled adorably, fishing a container of watermelon out. "I hope you don't mind."
Shyly, she leaned forward and pressed a kiss to his cheek. "No, I actually don't."

A blush fell on both of their cheeks, and they turned away from one another, suddenly interested in the task at hand.

"Yuna?"
She looked up at her name, noting the nervous look in Lay's eyes. "Hmm?"
Lay blushed, almost considering of saying never mind. Not meeting her gaze, he murmured, "I kinda like you a lot."
Yuna tilted her head. "Mueos?"
Lay swallowed. "I really like you. Nan jeongmal dangsin eul joh-ahabnida." His heart felt like it was going to beat out of his chest, but he didn't care.
Yuna was quiet for a few moments. "Lay-ssi..."
Lay looked away. "Sorry."
Yuna nibbled on a piece of watermelon, her heart beating quickly. She'd never received a confession before, except from Chen, but that was after they'd gotten together.

She had no idea how to handle it.

Stealing a look at Lay, she took a deep breath. "Lay?"
He waved her off. "You don't have to apologize, Yunes. It's fine."
She set her watermelon down. "No, I want to talk to you."
Lay met her eyes cautiously. "What about?"
Standing up, she made her way around the picnic basket separating them and plopping down next to him. "You know what, Lay."
He looked away. "Look, if you don't like me, I get it. It's really too -"
Lips cut his words off, and he fell back in surprise, gasping lightly when his head hit the ground. "You are such a dork," Yuna murmured, pulling away and resting her head on his shoulder. "You're my dork."
Lay stared up at the blue sky, a large smile forming on his lips. "Andwae."

Monday came around sooner than Yuna would have liked, and after talking to Lay about what had been happening since her breakup with Chen, they agreed to keep their relationship secret.
Chanyeol, Luhan, Baekhyun, and Taeyeon were the only ones who knew about it.
AKA: during school hours, Yuna and Lay basically avoided one another, unless it was absolutely mandatory they be together.
Dance class, for example.

During lunch, Yuna stole a look at Lay. He was chatting nonchalantly with Luhan, laughing on the occasion.
"Why don't you just go sit with him?"
She jumped, turning to Chanyeol. "We both agreed just to keep it among us, Channie." She sighed, picking at her cheeseburger. "Since I keep getting bullied by classmates."
Chanyeol hummed. "You shouldn't listen to what they say, you know?"
Yuna shrugged halfheartedly. "I try not to. It's just...easier said than done."
He nudged her. "You know we're all here for you, right? Don't worry about crashing Baekhyun and Taeyeon's date, or messing with whatever one-night stand Luhan may have -"
Yuna snorted. Luhan wasn't interested in dating, or girls in general.
"- or taking me away from my practicing if you need a shoulder. And you know Lay will probably go to the end of the world to keep you happy."
A blush worked its way onto Yuna's cheeks. She pushed Chanyeol's shoulder lightly, hiding her face. "You are so cheesy, Yeol," she groaned, feeling his laugh.
"Yeah, whatever. You get my point."
She laughed quietly, before getting up. "I need to go get ready for class...I'll see you later." She sent him a smile and got up, brushing Lay's back gently as she walked by, making her request obvious. I want to talk to you.

Where are you?
Yuna smiled at Lay's text. Outside, around the corner to the left. She sent the text and sat down, waiting patiently.

"Han Yuna?"
She stiffened at the voice. That definitely wasn't a teacher, and it wasn't Lay.
Choosing to ignore it, she stared out at absolutely nothing, trying to calm her heart. Why? Why now?
"Why are you ignoring me?" The voice came with a sneer, and Yuna's eyes reluctantly fell on Kiley.
"What do you want?" she grumbled.
Kiley shrugged. "I wanted to see why you snuck out of the cafeteria and who you're texting to meet you. I mean, it's obviously a guy, unless you're suddenly into girls." Her face screwed up in disgust. "Ew. Must I send a text to the whole school: Stay away from Han Yuna, the school slut?"
Anger boiled up inside Yuna. "What did I ever do to you? Why do you hate me so much?"
"Why do you hate me so much?" Kiley mocked Yuna, rolling her eyes. "God, isn't it obvious?"
Yuna, confused as ever, shook her head, taking a step back as Kiley stepped forward.
"You have the boys every girl in the school has wanted to get with wrapped around your fingers. And you don't even know how bad I wanted Chen."
Yuna's breath came out in short puffs. "That's not my fault. My and my friends - we kind of have something in common. They accepted me, because they know how hard it is to fit into a new country, and have to learn that country's language. You don't know that, do you?" Yuna's eyes filled with tears that she tried blinking away. "You haven't had to do that yet."
Kiley's arms shot out and she shoved Yuna into a puddle, caused from water dripping out of the school. "Maybe you should go back to your country then." Stalking off, she walked back into the school, not even sparing a glance back.

"Yunes.."
Yuna turned away from Lay's voice, sitting up. The tears were still falling down her cheeks, but she didn't care at that point.
"Yuna, stop."
She stole a glance at Lay, whose eyes were full of worry. "I'm muddy and gross...I need to go home."
Lay brushed the salty water from her face, helping her stand. "We can crash at mine...I'm sure mom wouldn't mind," he murmured.
Yuna shivered as the breeze picked up. Lay's house was closer. "Are you sure?"
He nodded, leaning down to press his forehead to hers. "Hey, mom might even be at work. I'll just tell the principal that you're not feeling well, and I'm taking care of you, okay?"
Yuna hesitated. Technically, it wasn't a full lie. "Okay." She accepted the chaste kiss Lay offered before leaning against the school wall, waiting for him to come back.

"And why are you taking care of her, not her parents?"
Lay kept his gaze level. "They're at work, and she has no other relatives who live here."
Mr. Paul pursed his lips. "What about Chen? I hear he's her boyfriend."
Lay felt his hand twitch. "They're not together anymore."
The principal nodded. "Fine. I'll let your teachers know."
Lay resisted the urge to smile before rushing out, back to Yuna. "Hey. I got the okay from Mr. Paul. Let's get out of here."
Yuna smiled widely, following Lay to his house.

The walk was only five minutes, but five minutes under the hot sun was enough to dry her clothes and cake the mud on her.
So, of course, she insisted to go home and shower.
"You can use the one here, you know," Lay offered, not caring about her dirty state and wrapping his arms around her.
Yuna bit her lip. "But I need clothes.."
Lay moved his chin to her shoulder. "You can borrow some of mine..I don't know how well they'll fit though."
Yuna laughed quietly. "As long as the pants have a string that I can pull to make them fit better, I shouldn't have a problem."
Lay nuzzled her neck lightly. "I have some basketball shorts you can use, so you're not too uncomfortable."
Yuna bit her lip. "Do you have a relatively small shirt?" she murmured.
Lay thought for a moment. "I might." Pulling away, he lead the way to his room. "Don't mind my mess," he murmured, making even a bigger one as he pulled clothes out of his drawers, grabbing clothes from the bottom. "These are about as small as they get."
Yuna grabbed the clothes gratefully, blushing lightly. "Thanks." She followed Lay to the bathroom, grabbed a towel and a wash clothe, and listened as he told her how it worked, and what soap she could use - his.
"And...if there's any complications, I'm just in the living room." A blush rose on both of their cheeks at Lay's bluntness, but he couldn't think of a better way of saying it.
"Thanks, Lay." She smiled brightly before shooing him out, and getting into the shower.

"What do you want to do, now?"
Yuna tied her hair up in a bun, resting against Lay's chest. "I kinda just wanna bum around."
He reached down and began playing with a stray strand of hair. "Why don't we bake something?"
Her eyes lit up. "Yes." Her response was so immediate, Lay laughed.
"What do you want to bake then?"
Yuna looked up at Lay. "I want brownies." She stood up and made her way to the kitchen, waiting dramatically when she realized she knew where nothing was. "Oppa!"
Lay laughed and made his way to her, grabbing a recipe book. "I hope you're good at cooking, because I'm not the best," he teased, flipping to the page his father had graciously marked - 브라우니. Brownies.

The whole page was written in Hangul, something Yuna was delighted about. As they began putting the ingredients together - messily, mind you - Yuna began to loosen up and really enjoy herself. As she blended the ingredients together, Lay wrapped his arms around her, waiting patiently.
As soon as the blender moved, his finger dipped into the batter, and he tasted it, humming in approval. "Delicious. Try it, Yunes."
Yuna shook her head. "Raw eggs are bad for you, Lay!" she playfully scolded, swatting his hand away as he went in for another try.
Lay chuckled and took the bowl, scooping its contents into the brownie pan. Sliding it into the oven, he set the timer on his phone and pulled Yuna back into his arms. "What should we do now?"
Yuna turned to face him, wrapping her arms around his neck. "We could...go clean that bedroom of yours up."
Lay cringed. "I'd rather not," he mumbled.
Yuna laughed. "I know. Neither would I. So..why don't we just cuddle?"
Lay kissed her forehead. "I like that idea much much more."

Hey guys!
idk if you're still waiting for more chapters (bless your souls if you are), but I'm moving My Peter Pan to my new account, as Google is no longer a valid option as a way to sign in, I have (as a result) lost this account :3 this story will be revised a bit, but I will try my best to continue it ^_^

@Bambii
You can always change something. It may take time to think. As an author of the story, you can control anything. :)

@My_Lover_Lay
omg you're too nice :3 the plot is literally all over the place though, and it's making writing it really difficult (hence the informal hiatus) :3

@Angiet0903
uhhhhh...she's her own character though? :3 unless you meant who she was supposed to be with?
In the middle of writing this story, my bias changed from Chen to Yixing, which wasn't very helpful :3 but um yeah..by the last chapter I've written (Twelve) she's with Lay, though she was with Chen for a while~

I'm confused I read all of it but
who is she supposed to be Chen or Lay
