My 24 Year Old Husband

Chapter 16: Too Much For One Day

Call me crazy my friends but I think that I made the wrong decision today. Here I am getting ready to go to my husband’s ex-friends house. And he doesn’t even know about it. That doesn't make me a bad wife does it? Of course it does. I should call Sunday and tell her I’m not coming. I picked up my phone and then realized something. I don’t even have her number. Aish! I threw myself on the bed and buried my head in the pillows. Man, I don’t want to go! Suddenly I heard the door open and close. Is that Luhan? I thought he left due to an emergency. I felt someone tap on my shoulder.

“Miyoung….” I looked up to see it was Mrs. Lu. I smiled and sat up properly. She had a shopping bag in her hand. She put it on the bed and held up a dress for me to see. It was a cute floral with a white bow at the waist.

“How about you wear this to the luncheon? You’ll look very pretty.” I shook my head.

“I would love to but it’s supposed to be very windy today.” She pouted and put the dress down. She grabbed something else from the bag. High-waisted jeans with a white long sleeve crop sweater . I nodded in approval and she smiled. I took the clothes from her and started to get ready for what could possibly be the worst day of my life.

~An Hour Later~
I heard a car honk from outside. I looked out the window and saw a black limo parked outside the house. I got up and put my coat on and headed for the door. Mrs. Lu handed me my purse as I got my shoes on. She hugged me and wished me good luck. I’ll definitely be needing that. I walked outside to the car and the driver said hello to me. Being polite, I said hello back and he opened the door for me. I thanked him and got in the car.

~After 30 min.~
The limo pulled up to a rather large mansion where flowers bloomed widely everywhere on the lawn and a huge fountain was in the middle of the whole garden. I started to feel really out of place right now. I gripped on the strap of my purse tightly and walked straight to the door. Before I could even ring the doorbell, it opened with a butler who gave no smile.

“Miss Sunday has been waiting for your arrival. Please follow me.” He started walking at a fast pace and I tried to keep up with him. The inside of the house was more breathtaking than the outside. The butler lead me to the backyard where ‘she’ was waiting. I combed my shoulder length hair and took a deep breath. I walked towards where she was and heard multiple giggling. I looked closer at the table and my eyes widened. It wasn’t just Sunday at the table. She invited her friends as well! Regretfulness came up inside me and I wanted to leave at this instant. I turned to leave when…

“Oh, Miyoung! It’s about time you showed! Come here!” Sunday exclaimed. She ran towards me and dragged me to the table full of strangers. They were all pretty and had to be models or something. As I was dragged up to their table, they immediately started to judge me with their eyes.

“那是她吗?我没想到孩子加入我们的行列。(That’s her? I wasn’t expecting a child to join us.)”

“我13岁的妹妹会穿什么衣服她的衣服提醒。(Her outfit reminds me of what my 13 year old sister would wear.)”

“我敢打赌,她甚至不知道我们正在连称。(I bet she doesn’t even know what we’re even saying.)”

They laughed amongst themselves and I stared at them cluelessly. I know they’re talking about me distastefully but what could I do? Yell at them in Korean? I don’t think that will solve anything. Instead I stood up with my head high and cleared my throat catching their attention.

“Nice to meet you. My name is Lu Miyoung. I hope we can get along with each other.” I said perfectly in Chinese. They stared at me with shocked expressions, especially Sunday. I’ve studied hard to learn Luhan’s first language so that we could connect more and so I would be able to talk to his family.

“Um...nice to meet you too. My name is Xiao Mei.” One of the girls said. She has a short bob cut with white blond highlights and was wearing the least make up out of the others.
The girl next to her had light auburn hair that reached her mid-back and looked like she wanted to scratch my eyes out with her long nails. The last girl had shoulder lengthed pink hair and wore very bright clothes. Sunday was wearing a large knit sweater with leggings and black knee high boots.

“Hello, my name is Roulin. Pleasure to make your acquaintance.” The auburn haired girl smiled widely at me. I smiled back.

“I’m Kate. Nice accent you got there.” The pink haired one took a sip of tea without taking her eyes off me. I shifted uncomfortably under her watch.

“Well, now that you know everyone names, let’s eat.” She clapped her hands and servers came and served us cakes and little pastries. We started to pick what we wanted but I noticed I had a much fuller plate than the others. They had about five things on their plate while mine had like twenty. I felt a little self conscious but started to eat. I noticed them making glances at my plate. Is it bad I love sweets?

“So Miyoung. How does it feel to be married to an international superstar?” Roulin asked as she it into her macaron. I swallowed my food and rubbed my hands together suddenly. Why do I feel so anxious?

“Well, it’s not easy. He’s beginning to be busy a lot and we barely have time to just have a day together but we manage to make things work.” I answered.

“What do you do for free time? I mean, it must be lonely not to have anyone by your side while your husband works hard. Am I right?” Roulin asked. I paused. It does feel lonely. When Luhan is out practicing with the guys, I’m stuck at home with nothing to do or anyone to talk to. I never really took notice of how I don’t have one single friend I can call out to hang out. Wow, how stupid of me.

“Yeah, it does get boring being by myself a lot.” I said softly.

“It can’t be boring. You probably spend your free time going shopping and splurging on yourself.” Sunday said nonchalantly. I looked at her. I don’t go spending that often. Not after that shopping incident with BoA unnie.

“I don’t really go shopping. I mainly just stay at home or go to the bookstore.” Sunday scoffed and shook her head.

“Please…” She muttered and started to drink her tea. I started getting angry a bit. What is she intending to say? That I use Luhan’s hard earned money for granted?

“How could you possibly sit there and accuse me of such nonsense?” I asked her. She smirked and almost slammed her teacup down. She looked at me with cold eyes.

“Because I know how low life girls like yourself feed upon men who have more and use some type of trap to lure them in. But you!! I can’t stand you for one second. How could Luhan ge be attracted to someone like you. No class, no background, nothing special to the eye. Only a sad, pathetic, lonely nerd such as you. I still can’t believe I let you step foot into my beautiful home with your lowlife self.” She breathed heavily. I felt frozen. Is she right? Luhan is someone who is more on top of the social ladder than I am. I don’t deserve to be with someone like him. I don’t deserve him at all. Tears started to come up and I tried to blink them away. Sunday looked at me and scoffed.

“You’re crying now? Don’t be such a----”

“That’s enough Sunday.” Kate cut her off. I stood up with my purse gripped tightly and bowed slightly.

“It was nice meeting you all.” I rushed out of there with tears already running down my cheeks. I quickly made it to the front of the house and out the gate. I never want to have to come back to this dreaded place ever again. Unfortunately I decided to wear booties and it was a long way to Luhan’s from here. My vision was so blurry, I could barely see my surroundings. As I came up to a stop at a corner, I waited till it was okay to walk again. The day became so cloudy and grey, just like my mood.

*BOOM BOOM*

I looked up as I heard the thunder. Please don’t rain. Please don’t rain. Did the weather listen, no. It started pouring like crazy and I ran under a building’s entrance to take cover. This is just great, just great. I got insulted by a mean girl, it started raining, I don’t have an umbrella and I’m cold. I want to call Mrs. Lu but I realized I never got her number. I can’t call Luhan because he’ll probably get upset. I can’t call the members either because I know they’ll tell him. I sighed and just groaned. Can things get worse. Just then………..I felt my bag being yanked away. I JUST GOT JACKED!! I chased after
the guy.

“Yah!! Give it back!!” He sped up as I tried to catch up. Suddenly a black car comes and he jumps in. The car drives away and I just stared after it. Why? Why me? Why out of all people, does it have to be me? I just fell on my butt and started to cry in the rain. I have no money, no phone, nothing. I’m not even sure where I’m at. I kept on crying and hugged my knees.

“Umma….umma…” I wailed on. I just want to go home. After some time, I stopped crying but the rain continued. It started getting dark. I need to find out how to get back to the house. I felt dizzy as I got up and held my head. I didn’t feel so good. I tried to walk straight but my vision became blurry. I fell on my knees and started shaking.

“Miyoung! Miyoung!” I heard my name but I wasn’t sure if I was hallucinating or not. Soon my body became more weak as I fell on the ground. The last thing I see before blacking out was a pair of nude stilettos.

Back At Luhan’s~
Mrs. Lu paced in the kitchen holding her phone to her ear.

“The person you have called is not available at the moment…” She hung up and redialed. When voice mail came she groaned and grew more worried. It was already night time and Luhan would be home any minute right now. Mrs. Lu tried one more time and decided to leave a voicemail.

“Miyoung, where are you? Luhan will be home any second now. Please call me.” She hung up and sat down at the table. She put her head in her hands and sighed again. She was scared and wouldn’t know how to explain the situation to Luhan. And speak of the devil…

“I’m home!” Luhan closed the door behind him and took off his shoes. He came up to the dining room and found his mom sitting there.

“Ma, what are you doing?” His mom put on a fake smile and shook her head.

“Just thinking..” Luhan raised an eyebrow at her.
“About?” She hesitated with her answer.

“Uh, what to make for dinner tomorrow.” Luhan smiled softly.

“Don’t worry about that. You always make good food. I’m sure tomorrow’s dinner will be great.” Mrs. Lu chuckled at her son’s flattery. He never failed to make her smile.

“Thank you sweetheart. You should go take a shower and rest. Must of had a n exhausting day.” Luhan nodded and headed upstairs. After he had gone up, Mrs. Lu sighed again and thought about Miyoung.

‘Wait a minute...She’s not up there and Luhan…’ Her thoughts got interrupted by Luhan’s voice.

“Ma, where’s Miyoung? She’s not upstairs.” He stood in front of her with concerned eyes. Mrs. Lu tried to peak but no words came out. She sighed and looked at her son.

“Luhan, there’s something I need to tell you…”

Notes

Okay, I am so sorry for the huge delay. To be honest, it took me such a looong time just to figure out what the heck I should write but then today I just thought ' I'm going to finish it and get it over with'. I started the beginning part in the beginning of January but I had to focus on school so I also had to put my stories on hold. Thankfully I updated this one. Another reason I was able to finish this chapter was because I'm such in a good mood. I'm going to Exo's concert in LA tomorrow and I got front row!! I'm so excited!! Anyway, be sure to leave a comment and tell your friends about this story too. Annyeong!
