My 24 Year Old Husband

Chapter 17: Where Is She?

The girl looked at Miyoung who laid in the bed with a wet towel over her forehead and an IV connected to her wrist. The poor girl had gotten a high fever from staying in the rain. The older girl looked at her butler who was behind her.

“Did you find the people who took her purse?” The butler nodded and clapped his hands. A maid appeared and presented the bag filled with Miyoung’s things. The older girl took the bag and placed it on the bedside table. She looked at her butler again.

“Where are the thieves?”

“They are going to the county state prison. Turns out those two were being chased for almost two years now. Everything has been handled now Miss.” The butler have a reassured smile. The older girl nodded and told him he could leave. The butler bowed and exited the room leaving the two girls alone. The older girl looked at Miyoung and crossed her arm.

“You should hurry and wake up. Your husband must be worried sick. I don’t want to return him an unconscious wife.” After that, the girl left Miyoung alone. Will she wake up soon?

~With Luhan~

Luhan hasn’t been able to sleep well ever since his mom told him his wife is missing. He was scared that something may have happened to her. He tried to go look for her last night but his mom held him back saying it was too dark to go find her. A guilty feeling kept crawling into his chest. Maybe he should have kept her by his side. Maybe he should have taken the day off yesterday and she would sleeping next to him right now. All these maybes and what ifs kept running through his mind. All he knows that if he doesn't find Miyoung soon, he'll lose it. With a tired sigh, he got out of bed and slowly got ready for today's performance. As he was putting in his shirt, he glanced at the watch Miyoung had bought for him. It sat on the bed waiting for him to put it on. He felt even sadder. She was suppose to come to the performance tonight. But now that she was missing, he doesn’t know if he even wants to do the show. All he wants to do is go out, find her and never let her go again. But his mom told him to do it anyway so that there wouldn’t be any suspicions and the press won’t find out anything. She told him that she will go out and try to find her while he goes and practices. Luhan tried to protest but his mom won him over. He sighed and went downstairs where he saw his parents in a little arguments.

“What are you guys talking about?” He asked as he sat down. He took his bowl of rice which was all ready to eat and took a small bite. His dad tried to say something but the mom cut in.

“Nothing. You dad keeps on insisting about redoing the house since who knows when but I’m still not okay with the idea. No means no.” She gave her husband a stern look and he just sighed before returning to his food. Luhan didn’t eat much since his stomach was churning. He was really worried. He put his chopsticks down and stood up to leave.

“You’re leaving already? Why don’t you eat some more?” His mom insisted. Luhan shook his head and headed for the door. Once he left, Mr. Lu turned to his wife.

“We need to tell our son what happened. Don't you see how heartbroken he is?” Mrs. Lu sighed and looked at her husband with a saddened expression.

“I know. I was about to tell him the truth but then I couldn't when I saw his worried expression. If only he knew it was me who let her go to that meeting. How foolish of me.” Mrs. Lu sighed and looked down. Mr. Lu patted her back.

“Don't worry. It's not your fault. You didn't know if things would have went bad. Right now we just need to look for our daughter in law so Luhan won't worry anymore. So let's finish eating and start searching for her, okay?” Mrs. Lu nodded and continues to eat with her husband.

~With Luhan~
He got to the arena Exo was performing at and was greeted by his cheery members. He failed to smile and waved at them. They noticed his gloomy behavior.

“Hyung, what's wrong?” Sehun asked. Luhan dropped his bag on the floor and looked at his members.

“Miyoung’s missing.” The eleven boys were taken aback and ran up to him.

“Where did she go yesterday? I thought you said she went shopping at the mall.” Suho said. Luhan looked down and sighed.

“I thought so too but she never came home anyway. My mom said that Miyoung looked a bit homesick too.” Luhan said, recalling what his mother had told him the night before.

“Maybe she went home early and didn't want to tell you about it.” Sehun inquired. The group looked at him and back at Luhan.

“I don’t think she would do something sneaky like that. Maybe she met a friend and stayed over at their house and forgot to call. Maybe that’s why. She probably thought Luhan hyung would get mad and didn’t call.” Chanyeol guessed. Luhan shook his head at that.

“No, she doesn’t have any friends here. I know that for sure.” He sighed and felt tears coming. How in the world can he find his wife? He tried reaching her this morning and all last night by there was nothing. No reply, no text. Just a bunch of voicemail. The Exo members couldn’t think of any way to help out. There was only one option.

“We need to go to the police.” Kai said. Suho shook his head.

“She’s only been missing for 24 hours. A person needs to be gone for 48 hours to be called missing.” Kai pouted and crossed his arms.

“Then what do we do? Miyoung noona is probably scared and alone right now.” Tao said with a worried tone. Luhan let out a few tears and wiped his eyes. Kris came up to him and put a hand on his shoulder.

“Just hold on there buddy. We’ll find her. I know we will. Who knows? We might be able to find her tomorrow and she’ll be back into your arms.” Kris tried to enlighten the mood. Luhan took a deep breath and nodded.

“Thanks for that Kris.” Luhan thanked him and Kris nodded with a small smile.

“No problem. Now, let’s practice. We got a show coming up.” Everyone got into their positions and started dancing when the music came on. Luhan tried his best to keep his energy up but he couldn’t stop wondering where Miyoung could be.

~With Miyoung~

The poor girl opened her eyes and groaned. She was in a large white room, laying in a queen sized bed with an IV tube attached to her arm. She felt something wet on her forehead and felt it. There was a cold wet towel on her head. She removed it and slowly sat up.

‘Where am I? How did I get here?’ She looked around and felt small in such a large room. The door opened, revealing a young girl who looked a bit older than her. The woman smiled slightly and walked up to the young girl.

“Are you feeling okay? Do you want something to drink?” She asked the young girl on the bed in perfect Korean. He oung girl shook her head and opened her mouth.

“Where am I? How did I get here?” The older girl seemed hesitant to answer but told her anyway, explaining about witnessing the robbery and her fainting in the rain. The young girl nodded and looked at her once more.

“Is there something else in your mind?” The girl nodded. The older one gestured her to proceed.

“What’s my name? And am I still in Korea?” The older girl’s eyes widened and called for her butler. The butler came in within a minute.

“Yes miss.”

“Get the doctor here. Now!” The butler nodded and hurried to call the doctor. The older girl looked at the lost girl in the bed.
‘Oh no. How am I going to give her back to Luhan after this?’

~With Luhan~

After a few hours of practicing, the members were tired and were all sprawled on the floor.

“Okay, next time, let’s reduce practice to only two hours.” Chanyeol panted. He took a deep breath and laid on his back on the floor.

“Come on guys, let’s practice once more.” Kai said as he jumped onto his feet. The others disagreed with him and stayed on the floor.

“No way. I’m going to sleep for the rest of my life.” D.O. said as he laid down with his head on one arm and the other over his eyes.

“Can we please get something to eat? I’m starving.” Chen complained.

“Yeah, I can’t wait another minute. I need food people.” Baekhyun said. Suho stood and put his hands on his hips.

“Well, you guys did work hard today. I’ll treat you to hot pot for dinner.” The members cheered and rushed to get their things and ran out the door. Suho smiled but worried about how much the food was going to cost as he followed them to the car. Luhan smiled at his members and slowly followed them to the vans. Xiumin looked at him and came up to him.

“You don’t have to go if you don’t want to. I know how worried you are about your wife.” Luhan wanted to cry right then and there and tell his best friend about what’s been running through his mind. But he held it back and put on a fake smile.

“No, I need to think happy right now. Miyoung never likes it when I’m concerned about her whereabouts too much.” Luhan reassured him. Xiumin gazed at Luhan for a few seconds before nodding.

“Okay then. Let’s go. They’re waiting for us.” Xiumin and Luhan walked to the vans where everyone was already seated.

“Hyungs hurry up! I’m dying of hunger because of you two slowpokes!!” Sehun yelled which earned him a hit in the head from Suho.

“Ow hyung..” Sehun pouted.

“That’s what you get for shouting at your hyungs.” Suho said. The Exo members laughed at their maknae as he rubbed the back of his head. Luhan and Xiumin jogged to the van and got in and they were on their way.

~With Miyoung~

The doctor flashed his little light in both her eyes and checked her temperature. He turned to the older girl.

“It seems she has suffered memory loss from staying in the rain for such a long time. All her memories have been erased. Including knowing her own identity. I’m not sure when she’ll be able to recover from it but I know it’s temporary.” The older girl looked at the doctor with a worried expression.

“How long will it be before her memory will come back? A few weeks.”

“More like a few months. All I can say is try to show her things of the past like old photos and take her to places she has been to. That’s the best you can do.” The doctor said as he put all his tools away. He bid goodbye and walked out the door. The younger girl looked at the older girl with a blank face. The older one just sighed and sat on the edge of the bed.

‘This is all Sunday’s fault. If she just let go of the past then maybe she wouldn’t cause so many problems.’ The elder girl felt someone tapping on her shoulder and turned her head. The younger girl was sitting next to her.

“So, I wanted to ask again. What’s my name?” The elder girl slightly smiled.

“Lu Miyoung. That’s your name.” Miyoung looked confused.

“Is Lu a Korean name because it sounds foreign.” The elder girl shook her head.

“Nope. It’s a Chinese last name.”

“So I’m half Chinese?”

“Nope. It’s best if I explain things slowly. But I can’t tell you everything.”

“Like what?” The older girl hesitated before answering.

“Just some things that someone else should explain.” Miyoung nodded in understandment. She looked at the elder girl once more.

“Can I know your name?” The girl smiled.

“Kate. Kate Li.”
