Code Red
On the way home Jae Su noticed that something was wrong. Zelo looked at him. “Something wrong?” Zelo asked. “Yeah.” Jae Su said. They looked around the area. “Zelo! Over there! I see smoke!” Jae Su pointed out. Zelo saw it. “Let’s go!” Zelo said as he started running. Jae Su ran behind him. When they got near the fire Zelo stopped to only look in horror. “Omoni (mother), aboji (father). Ani (no).” Zelo said as he fell to his knees. “No. I can’t let this happen.” Jae Su said. He ran off into the house. People tried to stop him from going in but he didn’t listen.
“Ajumma (aunt)! Ajoshi (uncle)! Can you hear me?” Jae Su called. “Jae Su-ah. Is that you? We’re in the bedroom!” a women called. “I’ll be right there ajumma.” Jae Su called back. He ran outside coughing. “Hey chief! They’re in one of the bedrooms! I’ll need help getting them out.” He yelled. The fire chief nodded and went up to him. “I’ll help you. Show me me the way.” he said. Jae Su nodded. They went inside. “Ajumma! Ajumma! Please answer me! Ajumma!” Jae Su called out. They went to the master bedroom. Jae Su gasped. “Ajoshi. Please no. Wake up ajoshi. Chebal. Don’t do this.” Jae Su pleaded. He tried to find a pulse. He hung his head. He started to cough violently. “We can’t stay in here! Let’s go!” the chief said as he left the room.
Jae Su got up and headed out of the room when some of the ceiling fell on top of him. “Chief! Chief help me!” Jae Su yelled. “Jae Su! I’m coming!” the chief called to him. The chief got to him with two more guys. The two guys tried to remove the scraps but couldn’t. “Try again. I think I can crawl out.” Jae Su said. They nodded. They lifted the scraps again and Jae Su crawled out with the help of the chief. The chief carried him out. Jae Su was barely breathing. “Hyung. Please don’t die. I need you.” Zelo choked. “I’m sorry. I couldn’t save them.” Jae Su weakly said. The chief put Jae Su on a stretcher and sent him to the hospital.

“Ajoshi. It’s Zelo. Yeah. We’re at the hospital. It’s a code red. Yep, a fire. I’m so sorry. My parents were in the fire. I’ll stay here with Jae Su hyung. Yes sir. Thank you sir.” Zelo said. He sat down and started to cry. “Why did it have to be you? Hyung wae (why)? I still need you.” Zelo cried. Daehyun and Yongguk, two of Zelo‘s group mates, came in. “It’s okay Zelo. He’ll be fine, I promise.” Daehyun said as he held him. "Don't worry Zelo, he won't die. Not yet. It's not his time." Yongguk patted Zelo's back gently.
