1. truthful and straightforward; frank
2. (of a photograph of a person) taken informally, esp. without the subjects knowledge

My fingers rotated the lens of my camera, the view through my viewfinder becoming blurry, then focusing, then blurring again. I let out a loud tired sigh and shrugged my shoulders, lowering my camera to my stomach. Inspiration just wasn't my friend today it seemed... How unfortunate. My bottom lip popped out a bit into a pout to myself. It's easy to find beauty in the world, but today it just seemed to come a bit more difficult to my eyes... Maybe I should give up and try again tomorrow. I did have another two weeks to complete this assignment after all.The crisp fall air slightly stung my nostrils as I breathed in and out, the orange and yellow leaves showering me. As my feet carried me down the path out of the park, I kept my fingers wrapped tight around my film camera, in case anything popped out at me. The pretty leaves that fell seemed like a good subject, but I just didn't feel like they were something that I wanted to include in my project. I had done so many nature themed presentations that I am starting to dislike nature as a whole... Why couldn't I find anything interesting today? The sooner I get this done the faster I can play around and take pictures of whatever I want! I drooped my shoulders and let out another tired sigh.
The dirt path crunched softly beneath my feet, I brought the camera up to my eye and looked through the viewfinder, seeing my own to walking feet. I adjusted the lighting and speed and snapped the shot, quickly pushing the film advance level with my thumb. What a waste of a shot... I only have about three shots left on this roll of film. In school, many of the photography students all had fancy and expensive digital cameras but I had kept my hands on my faithful old film camera, it's been with me for years and years after all... There was something beautiful about the mystery of the photo burned onto the film within its dark structure. Something that cannot be seen at first glance like on digital cameras. There was beautiful in things that could not be seen with the naked eye.
I lowered the camera away from my eyes and adjusted my glasses, a somewhat commonly boring picture, but maybe something inspiring will come out of it. But as if my camera was still staring at me feet, I kept my eyes on them. Watching one foot walk in front of the other, my camera lightly smacking against my stomach with each heavy step I took. A sudden gust of wind blew so strong that my knit beanie nearly slipped off my head, my head lifting up and gripping it tightly so it didn't fall off onto the dirt.
Up ahead there was a boy sitting at a bench on the side of the pathway, his legs crossed and arms folded over his chest. My feet stopped moving like they were glued onto the earth, from here there wasn't a clear view of him. Especially since his head was hung low and his curly black hair hung slightly in front of his face. For some reason, I just couldn't move, my eyes just observed him for a moment before my hands grabbed my camera tightly. This was the perfect picture, the way the setting sun shined with the light and silouetting his front only slightly to get a good contrast. I squinted my eye as I looked through the viewfinder, zooming in as much as my junky old camera allowed me to. My fingers fumbled nervously as I tried to focus the picture perfectly, what if he noticed me standing here about to take his picture? I couldn't handle a situation like that...!
As I looked through the viewfinder again I lowered it slightly, looking over the flash shoe momentarily before looking back through it. He had beautiful milky white skin, thin curved lips, he was the perfect subject matter. A perfect model! Upon further inspection... he was... sleeping? The way I could see his chest rise and fall through the viewfinder, his parted lips, his long eyelashes casting even more shadows over his cheeks, he was taking a nap on the bench. Without thinking of consquences and adjusted the lenses once more, my finger pressing lightly against the shutter button.
My finger pressed down on the button and the view finder ticked black so fast I could barely notice, the beautiful sound of metal inside the camera opening and closing. I loved that sound, my thumb quickly pushed the advance lever and I adjusted the lighting and focus slightly, greedy for another secret picture of this boy.
