Just A Number

“Please enjoy.” The older man bowed and stepped out shutting the door. “Jungkook…wow, this is…” “Not what you expect?” he grinned, he walked over to one of the chairs and pulled it out, “Please sit.” I sat and he slid my chair in. He sat in the seat across from me, “They have the best steak here, I always come here to eat it, now, I can enjoy it with someone.” He smiled showing his rabbit-like teeth. “This is too much, really Jungkook, we could have just went to McDonald's,” I laughed. “We could but, I’m trying to win you over.” He said shyly. My smile slowly faded, as I thought back on how my ex never took me to places like this. He was always busy at work, and when he was off he would just sleep in for almost the whole day. “You alright?” Jungkook asked looking at me, “yes! I’m fine!” I smiled, “Good because after this we’re going to have some fun!” he grinned, “Fun? What are you taking me out to dinner and then gonna try to get in my pants,” I jested, his face turned slightly red, “Uh, no, not like that,” I laughed at him, “I know I know, I was joking!” I waved my hand, he nervously smiled, “I mean if you do want that sort of fun we …can?” he rubbed his neck laughing which made me laugh again too, “Dream on!”

We spent the evening there eating amazing food and getting to know each other more. He was asking most of the questions about me, which made me feel like I was in some sort of interview. It was my first time experiencing a guy who really wanted to know a lot about me, it felt…nice. “What about your parents? Do I get to meet them when we start dating?” he smirked, I scoffed, “Ha! Don’t get cocky!” “Whatever you say,” “My parents, nah, my dad divorced my mom years ago and my mom is in America taking care of my grandfather, he’s American which makes me a bit, American-ish.” I chuckled, “Oh you speak English?” “Yes, very well, my mom taught me when I was young.” I replied in English, his eyes widen in shock as I laughed, “I don’t speak much, just basic, but I want to learn, I can sing in English but that’s it.” He said.

“Well you are a great singer; your voice is amazing!” “Yeah, I never knew I had a gift until my dad heard me.” He twitched his lips again like back in the café, “Where is your dad?” I asked, “Oh, he’s back in Busan, I haven’t seen him in about a year since I’ve been busy, I’ve been meaning to see him soon though, I owe it to him. He’s getting older so, I need to start checking up on him.” He looked a bit worried looking down at his plate, “I see, hopefully you visit him soon.” He looked up at him, “maybe you could come with me one day,” a smile came back to his face, “oh, what? Me? Uh, I don’t think--,” “C’mon, he’s been dying for me to get a girlfriend,” he chuckled, I adverted my eyes looking at the other direction, “Jungkook, if this…ever works out,…I mean, I’m a bit, older than you, by 9 years-“ “I told you before, age is a just a number to me, I know I am young but I know I’m mature enough to know what I want out of a relationship,” “What were your past relationships like?” “They sucked” he laughed, “No, I mean, I probably only had 2 real relationships my whole life, one when I was like in middle school which shouldn’t really count and one from last year,” my eyes shot up, “last year?” “Yeah, it didn’t work out, I just wasn’t feeling it, I mean she was cute, just, wasn’t my type.” he brushed back his dark hair and the one little curl fell back into place on his forehead. “What she wasn’t old enough for you?” I teased, he looked up at me, “No, she…wasn’t anything like you.”
