Chapter Seven

Jimin’s POV
Momo left the room, leaving only us two in the room.
“Are you sure that you’re fine? I mean, you were really sick yesterday.”
“I’m fine, Jimin...and thanks for yesterday.”
“You shouldn’t be thanking me. It wasn’t me. If it wasn’t for Jungkook, I wouldn’t have even known that you were sick.” Silence.
“He cares about you, Chaeyoung. He’s been worried sick about you. You shouldn’t have said that to him.”
“But he was right, and the past should stay in past, where it belongs.”
“You don’t mean that. Or else you wouldn’t have helped with his tests, or stopped him from drinking. If you truly felt that way, you wouldn’t have agreed to do the science fair with him.”
“He told you everything, huh?”
“Yeah, he did. I basically filled your place. It’s not an easy job, that’s for sure.” She laughed.
“Yeah, it wasn’t easy but I kept him out of trouble for the most part.” I need to ask her now.
“You want to tell me what happen-” Momo opened the door.
“Jungkook just left. He seemed pretty broken up.”
“He said it himself. I don’t see why I have to keep explaining my actions to everyone.”
“That doesn’t justify you lashing out at him like that. He just wanted to see if you were ok.”
“I only said what had to be said. And it was the truth. We aren’t friends anymore. That’s just the way things are now. Can we just not talk about this now? You came all the way to see if I’m ok and I’m ok.”
“Ok. Bye then, get well.”

When Chaeyoung cut off from Jungkook, he was in a bad time and I guess he found me as a replacement. I didn’t take any offence, it wasn’t like I felt like I was just something to be bounced back on. I listened to him. Everytime something happened, like a couple backstabbing ex-girlfriends, I would be there, but I could tell that it wasn’t enough for him. Even being a notorious playboy like me, I couldn’t really do anything. He needed Chae. He was basically incomplete without her.
Things got really bad when he turned to drinking. I blame myself that I couldn’t stop him. He got really violent. When I tried to stop him once, he punched me really hard. I had a bruise for days. I was glad when Chaeyoung came around and brought him the soup. I didn’t think that she would come through. I saw her looking at Jungkook’s state and I knew that she was worried but by then, their relationship was already broken. I convinced her to just make the soup and place it on the table. The note was her own idea completely. And, just like I thought it would, it worked. He stopped drinking and sobered up. He got back on the right track.
Chaeyoung still cares about him a lot. I know she wouldn’t let him wreak his future. That’s why she still gives him tutoring lessons. I think that they both want to make up with each other but they know that the damage has already been done. But at least Jungkook is trying to mend it but Chaeyoung doesn’t want it to happen. I know his side of the story but I need to know hers. I was close today. She’s opening up to me. I think that she just doesn’t want to be hurt again, somehow.
The time that Jungkook met up with me and the time Chaeyoung and him drifted apart is about the same that he had his first girlfriend. That could mean something.

I know Chaeyoung still has a spot in her heart for Jungkook, but does she have one for me?
