Ever More

Kat refused to leave Kris the whole time he was recovering. To which none of us blamed her for. I don’t know what I would have done if it had been Sehun. I went in to check on them each day to make sure neither of them needed anything. After a couple days Kris was able to move a little bit. Mostly just walking from his bed to the couch.

I walked into the mansion expecting him to be on his spot on the couch. To my surprise he wasn’t. I see the office door open so I went it. He was sitting at the desk with Xiumin looking through papers and maps.

“What’s going on?” I asked them. “And where’s Kat?” I asked surprised.

“She was asleep so I decided not to bother her with coming in here.” Kris says looking up at me. “Is Sehun up yet? We’re going over the route.”

“Yeah he was coming over after he showered.” I tell him sitting down.

I look over the map seeing a section circled with labels on other sections.

“If we go this way then we can avoid the Jefferson’s.” Xiumin says pointing out a route.

“Yeah but then we will miss the Brown’s. And you know how much Kat enjoys them.” Kris says.

“We also know how much I hate Mrs. Jefferson.” Kat says walking in with Sehun right behind her.

“Good morning Love.” Kris says to her as she comes over to sit next to him. “Then you decide. Do you want to skip the Jefferson’s and the Brown’s or do you want to see the Brown’s and tolerate the Jefferson’s?”

“Well how out of the way is avoiding them?” I ask looking it over more.

“At least two days longer. Avoiding will put us in his territory in five to six days. If we cut through and see them, we’re looking at three to four.” Xiumin answers.

“Sehun?” Kris asks. “Which would you rather do?”

I look up seeing him looking it over. “Two more days is nothing compared to the fifty years I have been gone. If Kat wants to avoid them we can.” He says seeing the pained expression on her face at the mention of Mrs. Jefferson.

Her face then lightly softens. “It’s fine.” She says sitting back in her chair. “Let’s do the four days to get there. We’ll take the long way back.”

“Kat really, it’s fine.” Sehun says to her.

“No.” She says putting her hand up at him. “You brought me a dragon egg. Consider this your one good deed. And besides if we can get there faster we should.”

“Thank you.” I say to her knowing she was going to hate the trip.

She just grunts at me. “When do you think you can leave?” She asks turning to Kris.

“As soon as I can shift we’ll go. So any day now really.” He says to her. “I can walk around the house without any pain so that’s a good sign.”

After everything was decided other than the day we were leaving Sehun and I decided to take a walk through the forest.

“Maranda.” Sehun says getting my attention. I turn looking at him as we walk. “I have been thinking about something since we talked to Xiumin.”

I had noticed something was off. I had just chopped it up to eagerness but by his tone it was something else. “What is it?”

“Once we are in my territory. I have to stay there.” He says pausing. “Which means I can’t live here.”

I stop in front of him. “I know that.” I say putting my arms on his shoulders. “I didn’t plan on living with Kat and them my whole life. I told you already I will go with you wherever you go. And I still mean that.”

“I know but I don’t want you to be unhappy.”

“I will only be unhappy if I am not with you.” I say kissing him.

Kat’s POV

I stood outside on the porch as Sehun and Maranda walked into the forest. Luhan came over sitting on the railing watching them.

I started singing our version of Can You Feel The Love Tonight from Lion King to myself as I watched them. “I can see what’s happening.”

“What?” I hear Luhan sing.

“And they don't have a clue.”

“Who?”

“They've fallen in love and here's the bottom line. Our trio's down to two.”

“Oh.”

“The sweet caress of twilight. There's magic everywhere. And with all this romantic atmosphere, disaster's in the air! It can be assumed.”

“Her care-free days with us are history.”

“In short our pal is doomed!”

“They’re leaving.” He says sighing.

“Yeah. They are.” I say sadly. “He has to go. Which means so does she.”

“There has to be something we can do.” He says turning to me. “You find ways around rules all the time. Let’s figure one out.”

“Luhan.” I say sighing at him.

“You know you don’t want them to leave either.”

“I don’t. But we can’t make them stay. He needs to go back.”

Luhan huffs before going back into the house to sulk. Kris then comes out wrapping his arms around my waist.

“He’s going to be fine.” I say to him.

“Are you?” He asks kissing my head.

“Sehun’s territory is only six days trip. Besides.” I say turning around in his arms. “When no one in your pack was her mate. I knew she would have to leave eventually.”

Maranda’s POV

After a week Kris was ready to go. We decided to have everyone go. I packed as much as I was able to in a couple back packs. We could always come back to get more things later. I started to walk out of the front door looking at my shack. I was definitely going to miss this place.

“Are you ready?” I hear Sehun ask behind me.

I turn around facing him. “Yeah. Let’s go home.” I say putting on one of the bags smiling at him.

We met up with everyone at the entrance of the forest. Kat had her egg in a scarf wrapped around her. Luhan seemed off. He hadn’t really said much the last week as we got ready for this trip. Once everyone was gathered we left.

It didn’t take long to get to the Brown’s territory. They were only a day away. Kat started to get excited. Maria was one of the nicest alpha mates. She liked to gossip with everyone but if you told her to keep something to herself she would.

Maria must have sensed us. She was standing outside the front door as we were walking up to the house. Kat and I got off Kris and Sehun for them to change forms.

“Kat! Maranda!” She shouted waving at us. We wave back at her then see her mate Sam come out.

We get on the porch and she hugs each of us. “How are you Maria?” I asked when she got to me.

“Great!” She says smiling. “It seems as though you have something to tell me.” She says her smile growing as she looks at Sehun.

“Ma’am.” He says to her bowing his head.

“Polite for someone who recently was a rouge.” She says joking. “You can call me Maria.”

“Welcome Kris.” Sam says to him shaking his hand. “My office?”

“Have fun girls.” Kris says kissing the top of Kat’s head. “Sehun.” He says walking in.
Sehun quickly follows behind him.

The rest of the boys go to the field to meet up with the rest of the pack while the three of us girls go into Maria’s office. “Ok ladies. Tell me what happened.” She says sitting on her couch with a huge smile. “Everyone has been talking about the rouge who took over his old pack. Now spill!”

We explain to her everything that happened. Him randomly showing up, saving me, trying to turn himself in, and killing them.

“Wow. I can’t believe they really hunted him for that long.” She says surprised. “Go you guys for taking out one with Luhan!”

“We had way too much fun to be honest.” I say laughing.

“So Maranda. How do you feel being mates with an alpha now?” She asks.

“Nervous.” I say laughing. “Relieved that there is only one other wolf I have to be in charge of right now.”

“That’ll change though. Packs grow as the years go by. And I’m sure you will do great.”

“We’re worried as to who they are though. When Sehun left it was only the four of them.”

“Wait. He didn’t know about them? At all?”

“No. He had been gone for fifty years. And none of them ever said anything to him when they would find him.”

“Do you think it’s a mate?” She asked worried.

“That’s what I don’t understand.” Kat says. “If it was a mate wouldn’t they be with them?”

“That is true.” She says leaning back. “I’m sure they just picked up a week rogue and was fixing them up to take Sehun’s place in the pack.”

“I just hope they aren’t power hungry like the other three were.” I say sighing.

“Hey nothing is going to happen to Sehun.” She says reassuringly. “He was able to fight Jongmin, he can fight this one too.”

“He had help though.”

“And everyone is going to be there.” She says with a smile. “It will be ok.”

Sehun’s POV

“So, Sehun.” Sam says as we walk into his office. “Are you ready for the politics of being alpha?” He asked sitting down.

“To be honest. I have no idea what I am doing.” I say slightly laughing.

“Don’t worry. At first it may seem difficult but once you have been at it for a while it becomes easy.” He then pulls out a file from the drawer. He opens it showing a map. “So where is it?”

“This area.” I say circling with my finger.

“Wow. No one has patrolled it in years.” He says taking out a pen marking it. “I’m surprised no one tried to take it. Especially the Jefferson’s since it borders theirs.”

After we go over a few different things I was going to have to take care of once I was there to establish the territory, Sam and Kris moved on to more casual conversation.

“So are you guys planning on camping? Or do you want to stay here?” He asked as we started to leave the office.

“We can ask the girls.” Kris tells him. “We are planning on camping the rest of the time so they may enjoy staying here.”

“I’m sure they are in Maria’s office.” He says leading us. Sure enough there they were.

“Hey! Everything go alright?” Maranda asked seeing us walk in.

“Pretty routine.” Kris says to her. “Do you girls want to sleep here tonight or try to get a few more miles in and camp?”

“Umm. What kind of question is that?” Kat asks him joking. “We’re staying here. The three of us already planned what movies we’re watching tonight.”

Maranda’s POV

After watching a couple movies I started to get tired. Sehun and I excused ourselves to our bedroom for the night.

“So how did everything go?” I asked him as we got into bed.

“I didn’t realize how much extra work this was.” He says lying next to me. “And I doubt Jongmin did any of it so I am going to have loads of paper work to do when we get there.”

“Kris will help you figure it out. That’s part of the reason he came.” I say snuggling into him.
We both fell asleep quickly from how tiring the day had been. I woke up around midnight to get a drink. I see Luhan lounging on the couch flipping through channels.

“Hey.” I say as I sit next to him.

“Hey.” He says dryly.

“What’s going on with you?” I ask knowing something was up.

“Nothing.” He says in the same tone.

“Luhan, that’s bullshit and you know it. You have hardly talked to me the last week.”

He turns off the TV getting off the couch. “It’s nothing.” He says starting to walk off.

I get up hurrying in front of him blocking him from leaving. “Why are you mad at me?” I ask starting to get upset.

“I’m not mad at you.” He says harshly.

“Clearly you are. And I don’t know what I did so just fucking tell me already so I can fix it. I don’t want to go to my new home with you upset with me!” I say trying not to yell.

“That is why I’m upset with you!” He says matching my tone.

“What?” I ask confused.

“You are leaving Maranda.” He says in a sad voice. “I am going with you to the place you will stay while I have to go back with my pack. Don’t you see how hard that is for me?”

“Luhan.” I say apologetically. “You know I have to go with him.”

“That doesn’t mean I have to like it. You and Kat are my best friends. What are we supposed to do without you?”

“Everything is going to be fine.” I reassure him. “It’s only six days at the most. We can visit each other. I’ll call, we’ll still talk. It’s hard for me too but I know I have to. Sehun is my mate and I love him. I know you thought in the beginning it was going to be different because he was a rogue but that isn’t how it ended up.”

“It should have been Kris to kill Jongmin. Sehun only got the chance because Kris was hurt.” He says harshly.

“Luhan, that’s enough.” Kris says coming into the room.

We both turn to him. Luhan with his head down.

“Sorry.” Luhan says to him.

“I’m not the one you should apologize to.” He says harshly to him. “Sehun won fair and square. Just because you are not liking the outcome doesn’t mean you can act this way.”

“Yes Alpha.” He says still not lifting his head.

“Go to bed. We have a long day tomorrow.” Luhan quickly turned leaving the room. “Sorry for how he is acting.” Kris says to me.

“It’s ok. He is upset.”

“How are you taking the move?” He asks lightly.

“Good. Excited to go to a new place.” I was sad I was leaving but I genuinely was looking forward to it.

“If there was a way for both of you to stay we would Maranda.” He says picking up on how I really felt.

“I know Kris. But I couldn’t stay with you and Kat forever. We all knew this was a long time coming.”

“Get some sleep Maranda.” He says hugging me.

“Goodnight Kris.”
