So Much For Being Siblings

Mom Finally Spills the Beans

“Mom. You have got to be kidding me right now.” I cried.
“I’m not. So I look like I would be kidding?” My mom said, looking at me. Then she added, “Plus, you won’t be lonely anymore. You’ll have a step-brother, Kana! Isn’t that brilliant?”
I stared at my mother in disbelief. “WHAT?! A step-brother? Are you kidding me? You never told me about ANY of this? Am I not important enough? Why did you push all of this off till the last second? What kind of mother doesn’t tell her daughter that she’s getting married to someone else? And I thought you said you’ll love dad forever! You lied!”
I started breaking down. I couldn’t believe my mom. Just not long ago mom had told me that she really missed dad. How she would find and murder the person who didn’t know how to drive and ended up killing dad. I still remembered how mom promised me how she would love dad forever. However she’ll never fall in love with another man because her heart was with dad, even if dad was dead. She lied.
Soon, before I realized what happened, I got dressed in a pair of black tights and an oversized pink sweater. I went downstairs where mom was waiting for me. She was dressed in an elegant blue dress and her long wavy hair was put up in a bun. She was beautiful. But it hurt that she was doing this for a man, a man that wasn’t my father.
As mom was driving, I slowly calmed down. ‘Mom isn’t going to stay single forever. You knew this was going to happen sooner or later. Stop over reacting, Kana.’ I told myself.
Finally, we arrived at our destination. As I stepped out of my mom’s car, my jaw dropped. I was standing in front of a HUGE house. In fact, it couldn’t even be classified as a house. It was a MANSION. The front ‘yard’ was more like the Garden of Eden. There was a wide concrete walkway that led to the main entrance of the mansion. On either sides of the walkway were two miniature fountains. There were flowers and other plants carefully grown. The house had four floors and was made of marble. It didn’t look like those big old creepy houses in movies. It was welcoming and bright.
In front of the gate stood a man, most likely in his mid-forties. He had dirty blond hair. There were wrinkles on the side of his eyes that hinted he smiled a lot. He was friendly looking. When he saw mom and I walk out of the car, he immediately rushed forward. “Hi! You came! I suppose you are Kana?” the man asked, looking at me with a bright smile.
I nodded. “And I’m guessing you are… the guy my mom is going to marry soon?” I tried to ask without sounding frustrated and annoyed.
He nodded, not sensing my displeasure. “I am Mr. Park. I will be your father soon. So just call me dad. By the way, where are your extra set of clothes? Didn’t your mother tell you that you were staying for the night in my house while your mom and I spend the night out?”
“WHAT?” I screamed on top of my lungs. I turned to my mom. “You never told me that!!”
“Oh! Sorry honeybun! Its okay, those clothes are comfortable enough. Now go in. your step-brother is waiting for you. BYE! We’ll see you tomorrow at around 11 a.m.!” my mom said as Mr. Park led her away while giving her a peck on the cheek. I felt disgusted.
As I entered the house, I was left speechless once more. The inside of the house was more impressive than the outside. It was gorgeous. White marble floor, brightly painted walls, bright lights everywhere so the house wasn’t creepy. I was afraid to touch anything because I didn’t want to break anything expensive, which was just about everything. As I was walking around, I heard someone say, “Hey! What are you doing here?”
I turned around, only to find a stunning young person standing in front of me. He had black hair and his eyes were sharp. He had flawless skin. His body was fit and was basically every girl’s boyfriend material.
“I asked why are you here, Kana?” the guy said.
I narrowed my eyes. “How do you know my name? And I’m here because my mom is getting married to some man I’ve never heard about before. And they’re going out for the night. Apparently I’m supposed to stay here with my step-brother.”
“Oh. So they didn’t really mention me, huh? Well, I am your step-brother. My name is Park Jimin.”
