The Angel and the Devil

(Jennie’s Pov)
“Jennie.. Please. Give it another chance. Please! I beg you!” I smirk.

“What do you want?” I say turning to face my ex from 20 seconds ago.

“I want you. I have fallen too hard into you. I really want you back. Do you not like me?! Am I not good enough?! Is that it?! Tell me! I will do anything! Anything! Just to have you back.”

“Oh please. You really want to know why I don't like you? Do you? Do you really?”

“Yes! Please!”

“It's not you.. I just simply don't like boys in general.”

“Do you not have feelings for me at least?!”

“Nope. Go find yourself someone else. I bet there are a ton out there wanting to hook up with you.”

“No! I. Want. You!!”

“I said no!! I don't like anyone that is a boy! You wanna know why? BECAUSE YOU CAUSE FRIENDSHIPS TO END! YOU CAUSE FRIENDSHIPS TO BREAK APART JUST BECAUSE TWO SAME FRIENDS FALL FOR THE SAME GUY!!!!!” I said in anger. I finish him off.

“So instead, I like to hook up with you cheap ass guys and watch you get hurt as I leave you at the end. BECAUSE THIS IS HOW IT HURTS WHEN I SEE FRIENDSHIPS END BECAUSE OF THE RIDICULOUS REASONS THAT THEY LIKE THE SAME GUY!! So cry all you want. I will never. Get back. With. You.” And I leave him there at the school yard alone. A teardrop fell out of his eye. I smiled. If only they felt the real pain of friendship break ups.

Back inside the school, it was time for last period. Which was ELA for me. I walk in and take a seat in the back. All the boys look at me as I walked to the back. I gave them all a cold and rough look and they immediately turned around, going back to what they were doing.
“Pst. Jennie. Over here.”

I look over to see my friend, Rosé.

“Hey Rosé. What's up?”

“Shh. Not too loud!” She whisper yells.

“Does it matter? Either way she'll find out.” I whisper back.

“Jennie Kim! And Rosé! Are you guys talking again? Do you need me to speak to your parents? Is that it? Hm? Do you want detention?!” Yelled Ms.Wang at us.

I roll my eyes at her and say, “Sure. And it's not her fault. If you want I'll go to detention but not her. She didn't do anything. It was me who started talking to her and made her get distracted.”

“Alright then. After class you better see me here in this room. Got it?”

“Yeah whatevs.”

She turns around to face the board again, looking pissed. I grin. It's what she wanted wasn't it??

When class ended, I went to my homeroom and Rosé followed me behind.

“Jennie. Wait.”

I turn around as I got to my locker. “Yeah? What is it?”

“I.. I don't know how to thank you. I mean.. you didn't have to do that for me. It was really ok.”

I finish unlocking my locker and opened it. “It's fine. I'm your friend anyways. It's what friends are for.. right?”

“Haha yeah. Thanks!” I nodded and she left to go to her homeroom. If only friends always stayed like this. Without a fight. Without a boy having to screw up their relationship.

The school bell rang and I slammed my locker shut. Time for detention. I walked over back to the ELA classroom. I entered and to my surprise, I saw a few kids only. There weren't many at all. I walked to the back again and was about to sit down until Ms.Wang started to speak.

“Jennie. I want you here. In the front.”

“Why?” I ask with a raised eyebrow.

She widened her eyes. “What do you mean why?! I said to get up here. Now.”

I tapped my pencil on the bottom of my chin. “Well you know, if you can't give an explanation as to ‘why’ you want me up there then there's no reason why I should go.”

“Jennie Kim. Don't make this more difficult and come over here.”

“I said.. why.”

“Fine. Stay there.”

“Wow. Such a waste of time over nothing.”

“Be quiet! That is why I asked to stay there instead of arguing and wasting more time.”

“Congrats miss. You actually told me why now.”

The whole class starts to say ‘Ohh!’

“Quiet everyone! Let's just stop with this nonsense already and begin with the work.”

“Miss. I need help.” I said. I was confused since there were two possible answers to a question and it said to only pick one.

“Well well. Since you didn't want to come up here then I won't help you.”

“Excuse me? You’re the teacher here. Who else in this classroom will be willing to help me?”

“I don't know. Let's find out. Anyone?” She asks and no one raises their hands.

“You see-” I stop mid sentence when I see a cute and chubby boy raising his hand. What was a cute boy like him doing in detention? No Jennie. No boy can be cute to you. Friends are more important than boys.

“Xiumin?” She asks.

“Ne.” He replies. “I can help.”

“Alright then. Come sit next to Jennie.”

“No no it's ok. Actually, I know how to do this.” I say. I didn't like to sit next to a boy. Why? Because they are annoying.

“Hm? You do? What's the answer to that question then?” She asks with a mischievous smile.

“Um.. Uh.. It's.. Uh…”

“Ok Xiumin make sure to help her out. She has to catch up very quickly soon.”

He nods his head.

“It's ok though. I can handle it myself.”

“Either way. I want Xiumin to be your ‘tutor’ from now on. Got it?”

I clenched my fists. “Fine..” I say with gritted teeth. I did not like this.

“So you two will be coming here every day from now on. Not for detention but for the ‘tutoring.’”

“I said.. Fine!” Everyone looked at me and looked away as soon as I gave them another cold stare.

Xiumin walked over and sat to the seat next to me. Ugh.

As soon as class was over, I grabbed my stuff and was about to go when one of my books dropped. Dang it! I'm so clumsy! I was about to pick it up when my hand feels another hand instead.
