You With The False Image

Chapter 2

Woori's POV

I woke up to the sound of the dismissal bell. To my surprise, someone was already waiting for me beneath the tree.

"Woori, you missed the big project." It was Joonah, and he did not look happy.

"What about it." I shrugged and jumped down.

"You're in a group with Jungkook." He said in a whisper. "It's a long project too, so you're stuck with him until the project is over."

I frowned. "Doesn't matter does it?"

"This is Jungkook we're talking about, he's not going to be around for you to free-load off of. He's going to have schedules and work and concerts and-"

I held up a hand. "I get it."

"You're not worried?" He asked, following me as I turned for the school field.

"Why should I be?"

"If you don't do well on this project, you're not going to graduate." He said with a hint of concern in his voice.

I nodded and crossed my arm. "Yeah, I know."

While Joonah made his concern heard repeatedly in my ear, my sight fell on Jungkook who stood on the other side of the field. With a swarm of girls following after him, he scurried forward with earphones in his ear and a plain expression on his face.

I raised an eyebrow as his eyes locked with mine. To my surprise, he nodded his head in acknowledgment.

I didn't nod back.

"I'm going home." I muttered and left Joonah before he had the chance to follow me. I left the school grounds just as I saw a van pull up at the side of the school to pick up Jungkook, probably for his next schedule.

Busy, isn't he.
I scowled. Jonah's right, he's going to be away for most of this project, does that mean that I actually have to work?

I spend the rest of the night at the nearby convenience store. I worked there part time every Tuesdays until late into the night.

Today, like every other day, the boss didn't show up to work. With a glance at the store cameras behind the desk, I grabbed a popsicle from the freezer and popped it into mouth.

"I saw that."

I jumped and swiveled around at the door. I rolled my eyes as Jungkook walked into the store with his hood over his eyes.

"What are you doing here?" I growled.

He shrugged and looked around the store. "Didn't know you worked here."

"Didn't know you cared." I growled.

He chuckled and leaned on the counter, picking at the packs of gum on the side. "About our project-"

I held up a hand. "Sorry, it's not school time, I rather not talk about this stuff."

He crooked his head to one side. "Then when..."

I smirked and moved away. "Never."

He stared at me and smirked. "I don't know about you, but I don't really need this project to graduate."

I stopped to look at him. "What are you saying? You're not going to do you're share?"

"Well, I don't really need to, and I'm pretty busy."

"Bull shit." I growled.

He chuckled and raised his hands to his sides. "I bet you don't even know what course the project is for. But of course, that's a topic for a different time, isn't it."

I dropped the bottles of sprite in my hands. Was he mocking me?

As if he read my mind, Jungkook held up his hands in surrender and took a step back from me. A smile played on his lips and again, his white blinding teeth flashed me. "Sorry."

"For what." I growled, growing tired of his stupid grin.

"Everything." He smiled. His eyes wandered away slightly before refocusing on me.

I raised an eyebrow. What's his problem?

"Whatever." I muttered. "Are you buying anything? If not, leave."

He nodded and walked around the aisles as I returned to my post at the front desk. I glared, through the cameras behind the counter, at Jungkook as he weaved around the store, looking at all the cheap snacks he could buy.

He cleared his throat. "Woori, I've been meaning to ask you."

I looked up at him and waited for him to continue.

"What are you doing at the Academy anyways?" He fiddled with the bottle of coke as if uninterested in the conversation. "Seoul's School of Performing Arts-"

He clicked his tongue and stretched his neck to the side, clearly bothered by whatever's on his mind. "How did you even get in?"

How did I get in?
I scoffed. "Again, why do you care?"

His eyes moved to me and lingered there with a curious look. I tore my eyes away from him and sighed. Nosy aren't you?

He didn't ask again. I watched as he recovered quickly and took bags after bags of chips and cookies.

"Wow, look at the daily diet of our school's pride and joy." I sneered as he came over, dropping bags as he went.

"It's for my roommates." He replied with a small frown. "I'm responsible for food runs."

"As the maknae right?"

He grunted.

I looked him up and down and narrowed my eyes. He doesn't look like the type to get bossed around.

Does he?

He grinned at me and our eyes locked. He said nothing and only smiled as I tore my eyes away from the little muscle that was peaking out of his shirt.

I may have been staring.

"W-what!" I said, startled.

He shook his head with a mere snicker and took the bag from my hand.

"Keep the change." He made a peace sign and winked at me.

It took every ounce of my will to hold myself from punching him across the face as I watched him leave. The front door closed with a jingle and I could've sworn I heard him laugh outside the store.

Feeling my face burn hot with anger, I let out a long wavering breath. It never occurred to me just how annoying Jungkook was until tonight and I found him to be completely unbearable.

"I'll show him." I muttered. "I don't need him to pass on this project."

I'll do fine, no, better without him.
