Finding My Way

Home

“It’s such a pleasant surprise Yoongi has brought a girl home. That’s definitely the first.” Yoongi’s adoptive mother, Min Soohye let's out a brief chuckles before sipping from a glass of white wine.

Gaejin and her stepsister sit across from me. Yoongi is to my left and his mother sits on the end of the table. The seat at the other end is empty. I swallow my small bite and throw a smile followed by a bow.

“It’s a pleasure to meet the three of you in your… lovely home.” My eyes linger around the dining room. Dangling from the ceiling, a small, but decorative, chandelier hangs. There’s a bouquet of white roses at the center of the table surrounded by small candles.

My eyes rest on Gaejin, who eats happily and chatters softly with her sister. At least she’s happy… what would Seokjin about Yoongi being Gaejin’s step brother… does that make Seokjin and Yoongi related?

Yoongi nudges me slightly and I turn to him unconsciously. “Hm?”

“How’s the food?” He asks, looking at my barely touched plate. “I requested this meal because I know it’s one of your favorites.”

One of my favorites… He must know that from his… clipboard. He’s been acting weird tonight.

“It’s okay.” I give a reassuring nod.

“Here, Jaemi, have some fruit. How about strawberries?” Soohye plops a strawberry, covered with whip cream, into her mouth. In her other hand, she offers me a freshly washed strawberry. Bright red.

I hate-

“Jaemi doesn’t care for strawberries.” Yoongi answers for me, taking it out of her grasp and hands it to Gaejin.

“Thank you, oppa.” She accepts without hesitation and gulps it down in one bite.

I clear my throat and scratch my nape, eyes on Soohye’s frozen face. This atmosphere irritates me.

The doorbell rings just as I was about to say something. Could it be their father…? Or… wait- Didn’t Seokjin say he was going to see Gaejin today?

“I’ll get it.” Yoongi dismisses himself from the table almost instantly.

I stand up after him, wiping my mouth with a napkin. “If you’d excuse me, I think I’ll be leaving now.”

“Please, stay.” Min Soohye puts a hand on mine, stopping me from moving. “Really. Your the first girl Yoongi’s brought back. If the dinner wasn’t to your standards, I can get my chef to prepare something els-”

“Thank you… for everything. For the lovely dinner, for adopting Gaejin… and adopting Yoongi. But really, I best be on my way. Is there a back door I can use?” I gently, but confidently, pull my hand away from her.

Quite speechless, she points down a hallway, revealing the kitchen. “That door goes to the garden. Follow the steps and you’ll make your way to the driveway…”

“Thank you.” I bow twice before leaving. “Bye Gaejin! Don’t tell your brother I was here. Please.”

“O-okay eonnie.”

I head for the door and make my way through the garden. I don’t want to be here when Seokjin finds out Yoongi was also adopted by this family. On top of that, I lied to Taehyung’s face, telling him I was having dinner with Irene. If Seokjin saw me eating here, he wouldn’t hesitate to tell Taehyung. Like Hoseok said to me earlier.

The stones, just as Soohye described, lead me to the driveway. My ears twitch, overhearing a quarrel between Yoongi and Seokjin. Since the sun is set, I dash down the tar hill, hoping the both of them don’t see me. I drop my cell phone on the road, causing me to turn around and pick it up. My eyes land on Seokjin and Yoongi standing below the outside lights. Seokjin’s back is to me, talking loudly to Suga, who stands at the door. For a split second, I feel Suga’s eyes on me.

I jump behind a tree, even though it was pitch dark where I was. My head peeps slightly and I see Gaejin at Yoongi’s side. This isn’t right.

I take a deep breath and pace myself as I walk up to the three of them. Yoongi gives me a confused glare. “Jaemi? I thought you were insid-”

“I know you saw me.” My voice is deep as I stand next to Seokjin. Gaejin gives me an innocent look and I can tell she’s frightened. My eyes revert to both Seokjin and Yoongi. “I’d imagine you two would have this talk isolated.”

“Gaejin, why don’t you go inside and finish dinner with your sister.” Yoongi pats her head slightly, knowing it would spark fire in Seokjin.

“Don’t tell her what to do.” Seokjin says, about to punch something. “You don’t have that right.”

“You see, I kind of do.” Yoongi cocks his head supporting himself in this battle.

Gaejin acknowledges me, waiting my commentary. I purse my lips and form a small grin. My hands flick forward twice and I nod my head, telling her to return to the dining table.

Yoongi closes the door behind him and the three of us soak ourselves in silences for a minute. When my lips parts for words to be spoken, Seokjin jumps in first.

“Why are you doing this?” His eyes glare at Suga’s hate and confusion. “Why do you have to ruin my life and take the most important person I hold dear to me?”

“I didn’t do anything.” Yoongi chuckles with innocence, throwing his hands up in the air. “I let things play smoothly, from the sidelines.”

“Your full of shit.” Seokjin shakes his head and runs a hand through his hair. “I know what you’ve been up to… blackmailing Irene and Namjoon to do your dirty work. I know Namjoon doesn’t want to be associated with you anymore, but you couldn’t risk that so you had to bring Hoseok into everything. That day after school, I was worried about him well being so I followed him, leading me to you. You took him to that abandoned house, which Jungkook explained to me about.”

Yoongi stays silent, showing a face of amusement as he listens to Seokjin playback past events.

“And that time… when you took Jaemi to Seoul to bring Jungkook back and restore the memories of that one month during the summer time. Two years ago. When Taehyung was neglected by you and replaced by Jungkook and Jimin. That was all apart of your stupid and childish plans.” Just as Seokjin mentioned Jungkook, Jimin, and I, Yoongi’s smirk disappeared… when we come into play, do the odds change? Seokjin pauses and shoots me a glance before continuing. “Don’t think you won this game, this battle you’ve created. All of the little things you’ve done so far mean nothing and will stay that way as long as Hoseok, Taehyung, Jimin, Jungkook and I are around. I know I’m not the only one who's had enough of you.”

Seokjin… Before I’m able to say anything, Seokjin grips my hand roughly and almost drags me down the driveway, away from Yoongi… and Gaejin. I look back at Yoongi, who stares at me directly in the eyes. We can’t leave like this.

“Jin, stop.” I try pulling away from him, but my hand doesn’t budge from his grip. He walks faster and tightens his grasp, making me wince slightly. “Seokjin, let go please… it’s starting to hurt. You’re just hurt. You need to cool down.”

Dark and deep into night, we walk, viewing nothing but black. No street lights anywhere, house lights are off and cicadas are communicating loudly. Only the moonlight and stars guiding us to the train station.

Seokjin slows his pace and relaxes his hand on my wrist. I feel the wind from his fast movements as he turns around and takes me in his arms. Unlike last time, his sobs are loud and clear. My hands do what they do best and move on their own, caressing his hair, patting his back.

“I’m sorry…” My voice is barely heard compared to his bawling. “Shh, Seokjin, your going to wake up the neighborhood.”

“He took her away.” His voice cracks as he attempts to make of words. “He’s taking everything away from us.”

“I…” My parted lips close as one as I give Seokjin a push to keep walking. “C’mon, we have to go home.”

His hand is soft in mine and we amble to the train station. I let him take a few breaths and calm him sobs. The last tears run down his face and his voice is a whisper, “Gaejin is my home.”

………. Unconsciously, I heave a long sigh and swing our combined hands gently.

Notes

Happy Tuesday my readers~~~❤

Wherever you are, I hope your enjoying this fine day. (LOL). New York had its first snow yesterday and it was melted by lunch time bwahhahahaha. *sigh* sad life.

This chapter is a continuation from the last update. I'm actually kind of happy for Seokjin letting out his emotions. This entire story he's been conservative and considerate, but now, SIKE. I guess for him, losing Gaejin to Suga is his "rock-bottom."

VOTE///COMMENT///SUBSCRIBE if you want a WHITE CHRISTMAS THIS YEAR. PLEASE. Don't let global warming kill the existence of SNOW. At least for New York, lol.

I LOVE YOU ALL, THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR SUPPORT ❤

See you in the next chapter~!
