The Wolf Within Us

Chapter 14: Jia

Tao’s POV

“Zitao. Hurry up!” Jia called down to me.

“Jie jie. I’m scared.” I whimpered looking up at her.

“It’s okay. Just keep your eyes on me.” She smiled holding out her hand.

“I can just make a new one for you. Let’s get down.” I stared at the height between the ground and the branch I held desperately on.

I shuddered.

“I’m scared!” I cried, tears welling up in my eyes.

“Okay Okay.” She reached further grunting with effort. The tips of her finger brushed the paper plane causing it to fall on the grass.

She jumped down effortlessly and held her arms out.

“Jump!”

I gaped at her. “What!? Are you crazy!?”

“Jump,” she repeated. “I’ll catch you. I promise.”

My arms grew tired while I continued to stare at her in disbelief.

My fingers uncurled leaving me hanging onto my life with one hand. I lowered my body, firmly placing my foot onto a limb of the trunk.

I turned my head to look down onto the floor before realizing it was a mistake. I was still so high up.

“Hurry up,” She glanced over her shoulder “I think my mom’s home.”

My eyes widened slightly. “I’m trying.”

A bee suddenly crossed my face, making me freeze in terror. It flies slowly but steadily, inching its way towards me.

I immediately stopped breathing as it flies closer and lands on my arm, crawling its way farther up my sleeve.

“AAAAHHHHHHHHHH!” I swatted the bee with my hand causing it to fly away.

Time slowly continued as I realized too late that I had let go of the branch. I closed my eyes bracing for the impact of the fall.

Instead a voice accompanied me as I fell.

I’ll reveal it all. The evil that’s hiding in the mask of good. I’ll reveal it all.

His laugh made me cringe, making my mind go numb.

I’ll reveal the evil in you!

“Zitao! Are you okay?”

My eyes snapped open, embracing the sunlight.

“Ughhh,” I groaned.

Jia hovered over me, her lips moving but no sounds come out.

My hand brushes the back of my head making me grimace as I touched a bump.

“Are you okay?” Jia asked, helping me sit.

“My head hurts!” I whined loudly.

“Sshhhh!!” She whispered quickly, her eyes telling me to quickly run.

“W-what?” I turned my head slowly, my breath catching in my throat.

Jia’s mom marched towards us, her face twisting into a look of disgust once she looked at me.

“Meng Jia!!” She screeched, grabbing her daughter roughly. “What did I tell you about playing with that disgusting pig!” She spat on my face.

I glared at her through the throbbing pain in my head.

“Don’t glare at me, you scum!” She hissed, kicking me in the stomach with her pointy heels.

“Mom! Stop!” Jia cried behind me, while I curled myself into a ball.

“Move it you shitty little brat! You should be grateful that you have me!” She pushed Jia towards the tree, as I heard a sickening crack.

“Jia!!” I yelled, pushing myself towards her.

“Look what you’ve made me done you little f*ck!” She screamed. “Stay away from my daughter you good for nothing!!”

She began kicking and punching brutally.

“I’m sorry, please forgive me.” I begged, as she continued to kick my face.

She stopped.

“Forgive you?” She scoffed, her eyes wide with craziness.

“Why the f*ck should I waste my time to forgive you!? You’re just a mistake! Nobody likes you! If my daughter hadn't pitied you, she wouldn't have wasted her f*cking time with a lowlife like you!”

“Stop it.” I cried, tears falling down my face. I cupped my ears with my hands, trying to block her voice.

“SHUT UP!” She smirked, kicking me. “ No wonder that whore you call mom left you. Who would want a stupid brat as their child.” She stepped over my bruised body and walked to Jia.

“If I ever see you with my daughter again,” she glared at me. “ I won't go so easy on you.”

I blacked out right after Jia’s mother left with her daughter in her arms. The cold rain accompanying my tears.

That was the last time I saw her.

A faint and bitter memory of my first love.

Notes

Author's Notes

Yehet! I'm back with a new chapter and honestly I don't really have any intentions to finish this story. I may even delete it. I have no inspiration. Hopefully watching more EXO videos will make me think of something. I'm a pretty terrible writer, I'm basically making this story up along the way. Please comment!! I'm lonely here!

Thanks for reading, and as always, I hope you enjoy the story!
