The Wolf Within Us

Chapter 10: Monster

Min’s POV
It was strange. The moment I saw them, the moment I watched their music video, I was bewitched. They were the reason for the misery in my life, but I became more attached to them. It was hell. I love you. I hate you.

Don’t escape from my vision. Take me with you. I’ll follow you, even if it's to the end of the world.

You will all
Become
Mine

Sehun’s POV
My grin widened at the sound of my hyungs terrified screams.

We already drove for an hour, and we were arriving to Kai’s friends house.

My smile vanished as I remembered the conversation I had with him before we left.

“Sehun-ah.” I turned grinning to find Kai walking towards me, his hands in his pocket.

“Where are we going to Kai?”

He stared at me seriously. “Remember the message on the mirror?”

My face fell. The image of the letters imprinted into my head, my hands started shaking slightly.

“Ne.” I replied, my eyes staring onto the pavement.

Kai strided past me, stopping so that we were shoulder to shoulder. He looked straight ahead, staring at our hyungs laughing as they made fun of each other and loaded their luggage into the two vans. His voice dropped so that only I could hear him.

“She,” He paused looking straight into my eyes, sending a wave of dread down my body.
She, is going to stop at nothing until she meets one of us. Until she hurts us. We need to leave before this happens.” He hesitated looking back at the others. “We can’t let them know.”
“I know. They protected us from so many things, now it’s our turn.”

Kai smiled sadly, putting his hand on my shoulder. “So mature already, maknae?”

I chuckled nervously, valuing the laughter the hyungs produced.

“Sure.” I replied finally.

I glanced to my right, trying to hide my laughter at the sight of Luhan’s face. His large brown eyes wide with fear, his face scrunched up, with his mouth wide open. I burst out laughing, unable to hold it in anymore. Luhan’s hands started shaking uncontrollably, his face turned completely white. His hand moved up slowly, shaking with fear. His eyes wild.

“Look out!” He barked.

My eyes refocused back onto the road. A large tree stood 10 metres ahead of the van. My mind went blank. Everything seemed to happen in slow motion as I tried to hit the brake.

In an instant Tao stood in front of the car, his hand held out. A image of an glowing blue hourglass marked the back of his right hand.

Time stopped.

The roar of the engine died down. The rustle of the gentle breeze from the window paused. I sat there, paralyzed, afraid of what was about to happen next. Beads of sweat dripped down across Tao’s brow. His face showed pain, while veins began appearing on his arm and hand. The van became eerily silent.

I glanced back at our leader, Suho, who mouthed us to get out before time continued. We cautiously opened the door of the van, not knowing if we were doing the right thing.

“Hurry!” Tao yelled, his face turning a shade of blue.

I clawed at the seat belt, running as far away from the car as possible with Suho, Xiumin, Chen, and Luhan by my side.

Tao’s POV

My skull felt like it was splitting in half as I stood my ground, my hand, held in front of me. I squeezed my eyes shut and cried out in pain. The energy it took to stop time for even five minutes was unbearable. I staggered backwards, time returning to normal. I regained my posture and held out both my hands, forcing time to stop so that I could get away from the car’s way.

The thundering pain in my head once again appeared, forcing me to fall on my knees. The pain overpowered me. I could feel blood dripping down my face from my last injury. My left eye began bleeding once again, the blood dripping down onto the road. My vision turned white as snow, my arms became heavy, dropping to my side. I fell on the floor hard.

It hurts.

I couldn’t even cry out.

Sehun runs towards me, time slowly returning to normal.

“No, Please… Stop.” I whispered, tears falling.

A shudder ran through my body. Kris suddenly drops from the sky, crouching beside me as I submerged in a sea of darkness.

Author’s POV

Kris walked slowly towards Sehun with Tao in his arms.

“H-how?” Sehun spoke up, his voice filled with fear and curiosity.

Kris walked past him, saying it so that Sehun could only hear.

“You can call me Monster.”
