When We Are Apart [BTS Love Story]

Chapter 2

Jaehwa’s POV

A week had passed since meeting Taehyung in the studio. I had started to wonder if it was just my imagination playing tricks on me.

On Monday morning, I headed to class with my bag over my shoulder. I found my friend, Eunbi, sitting two rows in front of where we usually sat which surprised me because she never liked being upfront. I rushed over to join her, only to see that she was chattering with this other girl about BTS.

“Hey, Jae!” She slapped me on the shoulder as I drew near then turned back to her friend. “This girl, she works at Big Hit you know?”

“No way!” The girl, who I recognized as Mimi, let her jaw drop. “Have you met any of the members?”

I shook my head and sat down beside Eunbi. She waved me away impatiently. “She’s not a fan at all. She’s more into, who was it?”

“2PM.” I growled but Eunbi showed no interest.

“JYP groups and also Big Bang right?” She turned back to Mimi.

I nodded and Mimi waved her hand excitedly at us. “Did you hear then? About BTS at the awards show last night!”

Again with BTS.

“V was caught singing Loser while they accepted their award,” Mimi continued. “People think he’s mocking them.”

I bit my lip. V? Taehyung’s friend?

“No way,” Eunbi slammed her fist down, making heads turn in our direction. “But V is just like that, I mean, they’re the biggest Fanboys ever.”

It didn’t sound like their conversation topic was going to change anytime soon. I sighed and looked around for another empty spot. I stood up and moved away from the two of them just as their conversation started to heat up about the scandal.

“Did you hear about BTS?”

I looked over. Of course, the people sitting around my new spot was also talking about the events from last night. I heaved a sigh and pulled out my books.

BTS at work, BTS at school. They’re just following me everywhere.

Everywhere.

-----
Taehyung’s POV

It was almost 10PM. Practice ended earlier than usual and the members scattered before I could suggest hanging out. Suga patted me on the back before heading out the door. No doubt, he was probably going to work on his music until early in the morning.

A lot was on my mind and I really wished that there was someone I could talk to. I looked around at the empty dance studio, suddenly feeling extremely lonely.

With a groan, I headed for the cafeteria for some dinner before going back to the dorm. My eating schedule was all messed up from recent activities and my eating late did not help at all. Even so, I couldn’t hold back from the cafeteria food. It never failed to amaze me how delicious it was.

The cafeteria was empty except for one person in the corner of the room. I grabbed the usual and sat two tables away from the figure.

Oh, it's that girl that didn't recognize me, Jaehwa was it?

I watched her tap away on her laptop. On my third spoonful of rice she let out a groan and stretched her arms out. I chewed my food in amusement as she banged her head on her keyboard, mumbling some incoherent words to herself.

She spotted me before I had the chance to talk to her. She pointed a finger at me in surprise and stood up from her seat. "Taehyung!"

I smiled and picked up my tray. She paused when she saw me doing so and cleared some room on her table for me to join her. The minute I sat down, her expression darkened.

"I haven't seen you in forever." She muttered. "Cleaning the studio by myself is no fun you know."

I scratched my head apologetically and handed her a plate of kimchi. "Here, my treat."

She laughed and grabbed the chopsticks from my tray. She picked up a piece and pointed it at me, motioning for me to eat it. "Why are you eating so late?"

I ate it with a smile. "I just finished p-"

She closed her laptop to get a better look at me. When I paused, she raised an eyebrow in suspicion.

"P-preparing the studio."

She nodded and stared at her fingers. "How's V doing?"

I blinked at her. "V?"

She ran a hand through her hair and widened her eyes. "What, did I hear wrong?"

Was she talking about the Big Bang incident?

I shook my hand her. "Oh, yes, my friend is-"

She leaned in and furrowed her brows, a look of concern spread across her face. Suddenly, my sight started to cloud and I could feel a burning sensation in the back of my eyes.

Here was someone to talk to, even if it was indirect.

Her hand came up and patted me on the shoulder. "Must be hard huh? Everyone at school was talking about it."

I looked at her hand. She was acting awfully familiar with me, but at that point, I didn't mind. She's here to listen, and that's all I need.

"V feels really bad for doing it," I started and found myself fighting back tears that started to gather in my eye. "He doesn't know how to apologize because he didn't mean to wrong Big Bang at all. He just wanted to-"

I sniffed. Here I was, rambling my problems to a person who probably doesn't even care.

I sneaked a glance at her and saw that she looked genuinely concerned. Her brows met at the center, arching upwards to reveal her discomfort.

"Taehyung, I don't know much about him but, I doubt V was trying to make fun of them."

I nodded and wiped my eyes angrily.

"I don't think he should apologize, he did nothing wrong." She said firmly, gripping my shoulders hard. "Tell him that he can overcome this, stand firm behind his actions. That way, he'll convince everyone else that he did not intend to hurt anyone's feelings."

That was the first time someone took my side on the issue. Not even the members showed this much concern for my well being.

Between sniffles, I nodded in agreement. "I'll be sure to pass on the message, thank you so much."

She shrugs. "Any time."

I finished my meal with her working beside me. As she read her notes, her head bounced up and down with drowsiness. I put down my chopsticks and wiped my mouth, watching her drop her head for what seemed like the 100th time.

"Why don't you go sleep." It was my time to worry now.

She opened her tired eyes and shook her head. "Test tomorrow, I have to review this stuff."

I frowned and looked at her piles of notes. With her sleepiness, it didn't look like she was going to get anywhere. I picked up a stack of paper and read it over. I didn't understand a single thing.

"Here, I'll test you." I beamed. She widened her eyes and looked at the clock.

"No, it's late, you should go home, you-"

"Yeah and so should you." I said firmly. I was not going to budge.

With a sigh, she accepted my offer to help and it wasn't long before we went through her notes. At around 1AM, Jaehwa collapsed on the table from exhaustion and fell asleep. I watched as her deep breathing made her body rise and fall in rhythm, slowly making me drowsy as well.

She doesn't have a care in the world does she, sleeping at the cafeteria like it's normal.

She shifted in her sleep and her head toppled off of the table. I caught her before she fell to the ground and helped her back into a safe position, catching a glimpse of her sleeping face.

I'm not going to lie and say that it was pretty, but it was natural. I held back a snicker and brushed the hair out of her face before falling asleep beside her.

This was the second time she gave me advice.

Thank you.
