When We Are Apart [BTS Love Story]

Chapter 1

Jaehwa's POV

"Just wait here okay?" My aunt held a hand up to me and backed away slowly as if I was going to run away from her.

I nodded and swayed on my heels, watching her inch away towards her office. I stood in the hallway by myself, finding entertainment in the wall decor. There were photos of all the artists that worked at Big Hit Entertainment. I glanced around at the photos until the familiar face of Changmin from 2AM smiled back at me.

Too bad 2AM broke up. I liked their songs.

From the corners of my eyes, I spotted the group I will be working with. BTS. The group was all the rage at school recently, though I have yet to get to know them myself. I inched closer, hoping to get a better look at the member's faces.

"Jae, come on, the others are waiting for you."

I tore my eyes away from the picture and jogged after the impatient aunt that led me through the hallways. She briefly talked about what my task would be as a worker and of course, she warned me about the regulations.

"Don't get too close to the members." She spat, walking quickly. "I understand that you are the same age as the maknae, but dating is strictly forbidden between you and the members."

I nodded and almost rolled my eyes. How many times have I told my aunt that I wasn't interested? Yet still, she doesn't seem to hear me.

"Hey," She stopped me and held me firmly by the shoulders. "You understand right?"

I nodded again. "I get it, don't worry."

She smiled and the two of us turned the corner to a closed studio. A man looked over at me as we entered, followed by the eyes of the other 6 workers. I ducked my head and bowed as I moved to stand next to the other workers.

The man clapped his hands together. "Well great, now that everyone is here, let's start shall we?"

His voice was surprisingly cheerful despite his tall and angry figure. "My name is Hobeom, I am BTS's main manager. You will report to me for tasks."

We bow and say our greetings. My aunt nodded in my direction before leaving. After our quick introductions, Hobeom put us to work. I spent the day running errands for him, getting to know him little by little. By the end of the day, he found it easy to pick on me, but I didn't mind.

"Jae, I sent the others to clean the office, you think you can clean the studio by yourself?"

I gave him an exasperated look and he laughed at me.

Hobeom placed a hand on my head, making my knees buckle from the impact. "The studio is smaller, it’s a lot easier to clean."

I nodded and complied. He gave me a fist of encouragement before disappearing down the hall.

I picked up a broom from the side of the room and looked at the empty floor of the dance studio. It looked quite clean already.

Heaving a long sigh, I set to work with Big Bang blasting from my phone. I had forgotten my ear buds.

The door slammed open and I jumped. With a sigh, I spun my head over at the door. Had Hobeom come back to bother me?

"What." I stretched out my words and leaned on the broom.

It wasn't Hobeom.

The new figure looked at me with narrowed eyes. His dyed blonde hair covered most of his brows from view, only barely showing his dark eyes.

"Oh, hello." I bowed my head, apologetically.

He stared at me and looked around. "Are you the only one here?"

Was he another worker?

I nodded. "Hobeom told me to clean."

"H-Hobeom did?" He blinked at me. "Are you new?"

I bowed my head. "Yes, my name is Jaehwa."

"Cool." I watched him run his hand through his hair and walk over to the back of the room where a shelf was standing. He moved the items around and grabbed what looked like a wallet.

"Hold on, what are you doing?" I straightened up. He wasn't going to steal, was he?

He raised an eyebrow at me and tilted his head. "I'm getting this for V."

"V?" I gripped my broom harder, prepared to attack him if needed.

"V, from BTS." He nodded, a small smirk played on his lips. "Do you not know the members?"

I flushed at his tone. He was no doubt, making fun of me. "Of course I do."

He chuckled and shook his head. Without warning, he walked over to me and placed a hand on my broom. He leaned his face in so that he was only inches away and smiled, showing me his teeth. "No, you don't."

I frowned and pushed him back. "Go, return the wallet and stop bothering me."

He laughed and headed for the door. I started to sweep again just as the song ended and Big Bang's Loser came on.

"I love that song!"

I jumped again and spun around to face him, staring at him in disbelief. Why hadn't he left yet?

He gave a low chuckle and swung his hands to the music. A few seconds later he grabbed another broom from behind the door and started to sweep. I stared blankly at him.

"What are you doing?"

"Helping you out."

Not feeling in the mood to complain about an extra pair of hands, the two of started to work. We finished cleaning in no time and ended up sitting against the wall for our break.

"Do you work here too?" I asked as he passed me a bottle of water.

He nods and holds out his hand to me. "My name is Taehyung, it's nice to meet you."

I nodded back and shook his hands. They were warm. "Funny, I didn't see you at the info session earlier."

He bit his lip. "I came earlier. Hobeom gave me the talk beforehand."

"I see."

"How about you? Why are you working here if you don't even know BTS's faces?"

I blushed and hid my face with my arm. "I'm not a fan. That must be weird to hear. Everyone seem to know BTS lately."

He chuckled and shook his head. "I don't see why what's wrong with that. It'll be refreshing for them to work with someone who's not interested in them, trust me."

I narrowed my eyes. "You seem to know them well."

"Yeah," He laughs to himself and stares at the ground. "I guess you could say V and I are really close."

If I was not mistaken, there was a hint of sadness in his voice. I studied his expression as he played with a water bottle in his hand.

"It's okay," I felt the need to comfort him. "Misunderstandings between friends can always be sorted out."

As soon as I said it, I wanted to take it back. There I go again, butting myself into other people's business.

He chuckled and nodded. "And I'll have you right? As a friend."

I looked at him a bit surprised by his words. I didn't think I'd be making a friend on my first day. "F-friends, yeah, of course."

Taehyung laughed and leaned his elbow on my shoulder. "Good."

A few minutes later. He jumped to his feet and waved a hand at me.

"Jaehwa," He paused. "It's fun to talk to you. I hope we see each other again soon."

I nodded and watched him head for the door. Before he left, he turned to me one last time.

"Your advice with my friend," He rubbed the back of his head and grinned. "Thank you."

Then he disappeared down the hall.
