When We Are Apart [BTS Love Story]

Chapter 11

Suga's POV

"I'm just going to wait here, you guys go." I muttered at the entrance of the store.

"What why," Namjoon raised an eyebrow. "I don't like shopping either, but you're going to get mauled by fans out here alone."

I waved him away. "Then go quickly and come back."

"Don't you need clothes?" Jin patted me on the back. "Even the fans have noticed how ripped your pants are."

I flushed and stared at my ripped jeans. It was true that the holes were bigger than when I had bought them, but they were my favourite pair and I had no plans to change them.

"Go," I waved my hand impatiently at the others. "Go, I'll wait here."

They hesitated, but in the end, their will to get new clothes pushed them into the store.

And me? I lied when I said I was going to sit there.

With a mischievous grin, I jumped to my feet and headed towards the audio store just around the corner. Feeling the stares of the people passing by, I pulled my hood down lower to cover my eyes and hunched my shoulders.

"Is that who I think it is?" I heard the whispers and sped up my pace.

I didn't get to the audio store, the amount of people around me was overwhelming in the split second I had begun to walk. I bit my lip as I searched for a nearby shop to go into and laid my eyes on a quaint little coffee shop.

I walked towards it just as a hand rested on my shoulder. I froze in my spot and darted my eyes around, looking for an escape route if necessary.

"Suga?"

Jaehwa's flushed cheeks were the first to come into view. My eyes widened as I recognized her clear brown eyes and the corners of my mouth automatically twitched into a smile in response.

"Jae!" I grabbed her by the shoulders. "How are you?"

She gave me a startled look then beamed back at me. "Good, how are you?"
I nodded. "Fine, it's been so long."

She bit her lips and glanced behind me with her brows furrowed. "You're here alone?"

I followed her eyes to see the amount of people that started to linger around the two of us and suddenly realised the situation we were in.

At this rate, we are going to be in trouble soon.

Before I had the chance to speak, Jaehwa looped her arm around my neck and pulled my hood lower, all the way down to hide my face.

"Sorry guys, I haven't seen my brother in forever, a lot of people say he looks like a celebrity." Her voice was clear and confident. "There's nothing to see here, you can all go about your day now."

The crowd exchanged uncertain murmurs before slowly disintegrating away from the entrance of the coffee shop. With a hard pull, Jaehwa pushed me into the store and closed the door with a small click, leaving the bell at the entrance to jingle lightly.

"Skipping work are we?"

I looked up to see what could be the male version of what Jaehwa would look like, looming over us. I gulped and glanced nervously over at her.

She didn't seem fazed. "Brought you a costumer."

The man raised an eyebrow then turned to look at me. His eyes widened in recognition and grabbed me by the hand quickly.

"Suga right?" His tone of voice changed completely. "I'm a big fan."

Jaehwa rolled her eyes and stomped forward to a nearby seat. She pulled out a chair and cleared her throat loudly.

"Suga," she motioned for me to sit down and I had to dodge the large man to get to her.

I bowed my head as I sat and watched as the two moved behind the counter to make me a drink.

"What would you like?" Jaehwa called out from behind the counter. "You can pull off your hood, it's a membership only cafe."

I blinked. "A what?"

"Membership only. It's because a lot of my aunt's friends come here, so it has to be exclusive enough as to keep their identities hidden." She explained with a sigh.

I nodded slowly and ordered my drink, a quick rich dark iced coffee.

She handed it to me with a disgusted expression. "Who knew you would drink such a bizarre drink."

I took a sip. "Is it?"

She stuck out her tongue at me and tossed me a hat. "Where were you headed?"

"Aud bots next door." I said simply as she pulled up a seat in front of me.

"The audio store? Richard works there, maybe he'll give you a discount."

I furrowed my brows as I recalled the smiley boy that Namjoon introduced us to before. If I recalled correctly, his name was Richard right? So that's how Namjoon knew Jae before us.

"I'll come with you." She beamed. "I have nothing to do anyways."

I glanced at the counter where the other man was working, worried about what he was going to say about her skipping work. "Is he your brother?"

She stared at me blankly then broke out in laughter. "That's my dad, what a nice compliment you just gave him."

I flushed and took a large gulp of my coffee, almost choking on its bitterness.

She chuckled and stood up from her seat. She came up next to me and put the hat on me, followed by my hood. With a few finishing touches, she backed away from me and held up her thumb.

"Perfect." She winked and showed me the door. "After you."

With one last look at the man behind the counter, we left the cafe and turned towards the audio store. I hesitated and glanced around nervously to make sure no one was looking then took a step forward.

Jaehwa gave me a light push. "Suspicious aren't you."

"You try to be me for a day."

She threw back her head and giggled. "No thanks."

Without warning, she looped her arm around mine and led me forward on the crowded street. I had barely enough time to feel uncomfortable before she pulled me around back and into an alleyway.

"We'll go through from the back, that way you'll attract less attention." She whispered, her arms still tight around mine.

I cleared my throat as we arrived at a small shabby door. "Y-you can let go now."

She gasped slightly, jumped back a few steps in surprise and I had to stifle a laugh. Her face was flushed, but nothing compared to how fast my heart was racing now.

She's cute, this must be why those two like her so much.

I don't blame them.

-----

Jaehwa's POV

I didn't waste time to be embarrassed and led Suga through the back door almost immediately. Richard always left the door open for me and this time was not an exception.

"Hey, you came." Richard bumped his fist on my shoulder as a greeting. "With Yoongi hyung too?"

"He wants to look around." I muttered, still feeling the burning of my cheeks in the cool, air conditioned room.

"Yup, sure, I have to go back to work, but you can take a look as you like." He smiled and ruffled my hair playfully before waddling off to greet a new costumer.

I followed Suga around as he moved from aisle to aisle looking at speakers, and different audio boards. I didn't really have an interest in these things, but seeing how happy Suga was, I didn't really care. I grinned to myself as we moved to the next aisle and fixed my eyes on the outline of his silhouette.

"I've been meaning to ask you." Suga stopped me at the back section where spare parts were. "Are you considering coming back to work?"

I glanced up at him and raised an eyebrow. "I was fired."

"Yeah but, it wasn't your fault was it?" He shrugged. "Shouldn't be a problem if you explain yourself."

My heart sank as I recalled my argument with my aunt. "I did, it didn't work."

There was a moment of silence and I wished that I was elsewhere. I enjoyed Suga's company, he was fun and different from any other guy I have ever met, but he was part of BTS. I don't get along with the BTS members. Not when that guy was one of them.

"Well then," he scratched his head awkwardly. "I guess, that's that."

I nodded and looked at my feet.

"I can't convince you to come back can I?" He tried again.

I bit my lip but didn't look up at him. I knew if I looked at him, I would falter, my answer would change.

He waited for my reply but I couldn't give him one. In the end, he gave a light chuckle and moved away to look at a particular speaker that interested him. I watched as his back move away and suddenly had the urge to run after him.

I breathed a sigh and dragged my feet after him.

I
f Suga had asked me just one more time, I would've agreed.

Because it was for him that I had a tolerance for.

Only him, because I liked him.
