Have We Met? [Sequel to A Deer and A Baozi]

Chapter 1

“Retrograde Amnesia is a form of Amnesia where a person is unable to recall events that occurred before the development of the Amnesia, even though they may be able to remember new information after the accident. The locked memory itself could be recovered, however there is no guarantee. There is no current treatment for this condition and the only way to retrieve these memories is to “jog” the memory by exposing the patient to specific articles from their past.”
-Cerebral Cortex: Oxford Journals 2016

Ling’s POV

The doctor’s office was cold but I didn’t mind anymore. I’ve been to this same office multiple times in the past few weeks, all of which had ended with me unconscious in the car.

I flipped through the next page of the magazine I was reading and rest my eyes on a particular article about K-Pop.

K-Pop, Korean Pop music culture right?

I skimed the article only briefly before my eyes rested on the word “EXO”. I recognized that name, the company that I was training under has a group that goes by this name. From what I’ve heard, they recently became a full twelve member group again.

“Miss Wang?” The desk assistant called my name out and I stood up to greet her. My aunt came up behind me and placed a hand on my back. “This will be your ninth visit right?”

I nodded and signed the piece of paper she passed me. Together, my aunt and I head inside the office.

“Hold on, Miss Wang?”

I turn to the secretary. She pointed at the magazine in my hand.

“That stays behind.”

I smiled apologetically and returned the magazine with one last look at EXO. This stays behind.

My doctor sat across from me in the grey office. He goes by the name Dr. Drew, and he was quite the renowned Amnesia doctor.

I studied him as he conversed with my Aunt. His blonde hair was starting to turn white at the ends, but his youthful features could still be seen from his clear blue eyes. The wrinkles on his face were not that prominent, but they were no doubt there.

He looks older than the last time I saw him.

“Ling,” He turned his attention to me and I sat up straighter in my seat. “Still nothing?”

I shook my head.

“I get snippets of images sometimes,” I explained. “But, apart from the usual, there was nothing more.”

Dr. Drew nods and writes something in his notes. He then proceeded to my usual assessment. The usual array of photos for me to identify, faces for me to recognize and-

Chime by EXO

That song. That’s where I’m always stuck on. That’s where-

I blacked out in the office and the last of the lyrics hit my eardrums.

Feelings that can Chime, Chime for you.

=====Korea=====
I stepped out of the plane with a yawn. The flight was long and exhausting. There wasn’t even the food to look forward to. I shuddered, remembering the brown mush that was on my plate at lunch.

“Never again,” I muttered under my breath and followed my cousin Gabby towards the terminal exit. I looked around at the signs in the airport, familiar Korean characters flood my brain.

I haven’t been to Korea since my exchange program, it’s good to be back.

The minute I stepped out of the terminal, I heard it. The roaring of the crowd, louder than anything I have ever heard before. As I looked over for the source of the noise, I distinctively heard my name yelled out from the crowd.

There was a crowd of fans waiting behind the bars of security. They swung their signs in the air waving to me as I passed with overwhelming excitement. I bow my head politely and look over to Gabby for answers.

“What’s happening?” I muttered, hiding my face as the cameras started to flash.

Before she could answer, a loud eruption of my name broke through the crowd and I jolt my head up. There were nine figures a few feet away from me, all waving their hands in the air. As I drew closer, I realised just who they were.

EXO, from my company. Well, nine of them that is.

My heart almost spiked through the roof and I immediately swivel to bow my head in greeting. Although I have been living in America for the past few years, I was still very familiar with Korean culture. My job as a trainee made sure of that.

“Ling!”

“Ling you’re home!”

"Finally!"

"You look so different now!"

They pulled me into a group hug and I couldn’t help but laugh. Their energy was overwhelming, but I didn’t complain. It was nice to be greeted by the sunbaes that I will be working with in the future.

“It’s good to be back.” I say excitedly in between their hugs.

I pulled them away and stepped back with a wide smile on my lips. They looked at me with warm expressions, almost as if expecting me to say something.

Almost as if, we know each other.

I bow my head politely. “I’m sorry sunbaes but, have we met?”

The nine boys from EXO stood in front of me with their eyes wide and mouths hanging open. I blink, finally adjusting my ears to the roaring sound of the fans in the airport. I look around at my cousin Gabby who avoided my eyes with her sight fixed on the ground before her. Her jaw was clenched tight and her mouth was held in a firm line.

Have I said something wrong? Was this-

“Ling?”

I looked up to see Baekhyun walking forwards with his hands reached out for me.

“Ha, funny, you think now that you work under SM you have to treat us any different?” He laughed.

“D-different?” I blinked in confusion. What did he mean by different? Did he-

“Aish,” Chen joined in on Baekhyun’s laughter and came over to me. “Ling, you’re such a jokester. We don’t have to act differently just because we are in the same company now.”

“What do you-“

Before I could finish, Sehun’s hand came up to ruffle my hair. I toppled back with a grunt and fixed my hair with an annoyed expression. Nothing was making sense, and it did not help that they were acting so familiar with me.

“Oppa,” Gabby pulled him away before I could say anything. I watched her huddle up with the rest of the members. Once in a while, they would toss me glances.

Finally not able to take their secrecy, I entertained myself with the fans. They passed me letters and stuffed animals, giving me encouragement on my career with SM Entertainment.

“I loved you in Life with EXO!” One of them said. “I can’t wait for your second season!”

‘Life with EXO’? Second season? This can’t be-

My eyes wander back to EXO’s huddled circle. All of the members were looking at me with an emotionless expression except for one.

Xiumin’s eyes were red and he was rubbing his eyes in frustration.

This was what I had forgotten. Wasn’t it.

Was it Borin who was crying when CEvilO was all evil laughter over the weird contracts? You said it was 'tears of sorrow".... Hmmm is there more to Borin than I thought? Maybe she's not all evil like I thought ... Hm ... I hope not. After all this emotional anger I have been going through in this fanfic, I need to kill SOMEONE.

WHAT IS GOING ON

I feel really suspicious... A sryinge? Maybe he is trying to make her forget all her exo memories for real ... The syringe had something in it? Or was it empty? And he acted like he was in Ling's life before, and that talk about "I wont let you ansnd (cant really remember xD)" almost sounds like what Luhan would say. Strange ...

And nooo Tao baby don't be like that *sobs*

How can you write those scenes, I'll never be abe to write them ... I'll probably end up sobbing and throwing my keyboard on the floor and my computer at the wall. Hehe ^^

Good luck with your updates! Fighting! :)
