Unexpected

I got back to the house around six to make sure TOP was alright. I didn’t really leave them alone together. He pretty well knew what to do but babies can be stressful.

“How’s it going?” I asked walking into the living room seeing them both sitting on the couch with the TV on.

TOP looks up seeing me. “Good. He really does stick to a schedule.” He laughs. “Woke up at two for his bottle. Then just looked at me when it was time for something else. If I didn’t catch on he would fuss at me while giving me the evil eye.” He says laughing harder.

Min Hyun then starts fussing putting his hands up to me. I laugh slightly walking over to pick him up. “Did you miss Nana?” I asked him smiling. “I know, I left you alone all afternoon with Appa didn’t I?”

He starts making more baby noises as if he is telling me what happened causing both of us to laugh loudly.

“Ok. I won’t do it again. I promise.” I say through laughter.

“I wasn’t that bad.” TOP laughs defensively.

I take Min Hyun to take his bath then got him ready for bed. He started yawning and fussing at me as I got him into his pj’s. I laid him down in his crib turning on his mobile for him to watch as he falls asleep.

I sit on the couch picking up my book to start reading. I notice TOP was starting to act fidgety on the other side of the couch. I glance up seeing he is texting and just put it off to work issues going back to my book. Louis had just dug up the grave when I hear TOP clear his throat getting my attention.

“Umm. I have a question for you.” He says nervously.

“What’s that?” I ask slightly worried closing the book.

He clears his throat again. “Before I ask this I want you to know that no matter what you say, you still have your job. And I really mean that.”

Now I’m really concerned. “What’s wrong?” I ask very worried now.

“Nothing is wrong.” He says reassuringly. He then takes in a deep breath. “Well, I am off tomorrow night. And I wanted to know if you would like to go on a date with me?”

I wasn’t able to hide the shocked look on my face. I started thinking over his offer trying to make a decision while he sat quietly waiting for my response.

He finally does break the silence. “You don’t have to if you don’t want. I know it’s kind of weird circumstances. I just thought I would ask.”

I then somewhat snap out of it. “No, yeah. I understand.” I say nodding my head. I then look over smiling at him. “I would love to.” I say reassuringly.

“Great!” He says excitedly. “I’ll let GD know. He was going to bring Kat over with him to watch Min Hyun.” He then gets up going to his room to call GD.

I hurry to my room calling Kat.

“Hello.” She says happily into the phone.

“I have a date with TOP tomorrow.” I whisper into the phone to make sure he doesn’t hear me.

“I told you!” She almost yells at me.

“Shut up!” I snap at her. “I don’t know what to think. It was just out of nowhere. I put Min Hyun to bed and he asked me while we were sitting in the living room.”

“Where is he taking you? I get to play dress up with you now!” I can hear her shuffling through her closet.

“I don’t know he didn’t say. But I know it won’t be anything fancy. He said he doesn’t do that on first dates.” I explain.

“Well I’ll put this back then.” She says mostly to herself before shuffling again. I then hear her freeze. “Who is watching the baby if you both are going to be gone?”

“I don’t think I’m supposed to answer that question.” I say hinting.

“So me and GD. Got it.”

“Do you think this is a good idea though? He is my boss. And I live with him.”

“You’re over thinking this.”

“Am I though. What if it doesn’t work out? Or what if it’s a bad date?”

“I’m sure he already thought through that too. It’s going to be fine and you’re going to have fun. Don’t worry about what ifs and just go with it.”

“I guess. I don’t know what time yet. Just that it’s tomorrow.”

“Well I will see you tomorrow then.”

We both hang up the phone and I start to get ready for bed. I could hardly sleep between nervousness and excitement for the next day. I give up at six getting out of bed to get ready for the day. I noticed I took extra time putting on my make-up making sure it was perfect.

I continued my morning routine as normal as I possibly could. I started anticipating my date tonight while Min Hyun and I sat at the park. He started fussing for his bottle so I put him back into his stroller to get it out of the bag.

I was digging through the bag but couldn’t seem to find it anywhere. I started thinking through trying to remember if I put it in the bag. I finally found it buried under his extra clothes.

I turn around to get Min Hyun out of the stroller. He was gone. I looked all over the ground making sure he didn’t fall out.

I quickly called the police. They blocked off the park and the surrounding area. I then called TOP.

“Hey.” He answered.

Tears were running down my face at this point. “TOP something happened. I went to get Min Hyun’s bottle out of his bag and when I turned around he was gone!” I rattled to him. “I don’t know what happened. I called the police. No one is allowed to leave the park right now.”

“I’m on my way.” He says quickly before hanging up.

A police officer came over getting my statement and a description of Min Hyun.

“What was he wearing?” He asks me.

“He had on a light blue jacket, white onesie, and jeans. There was a pacifier clipped to his jacket.” I then see TOP along with the rest of Big Bang and Kat running over to us. “TOP I am so sorry.” I say with tears starting to fall down my face again.

“What happened?” He asks grabbing me in a hug to calm me down.

“I don’t know. I went to get his bottle and he was gone.” I say through the lump in my throat.

“Sir, are you the parent?” The officer asked him.

“Yes, Choi Seung Hyun.” He answers him.

“Do either of you know who could have done this? Or know why someone would?” He asks him.

“I don’t know who would but there are quite a few reasons why.” TOP starts to explain. “He showed up on my door step about two weeks ago with a note. I don’t know where he came from but the note was from the mother saying she couldn’t take care of him. I adopted him after that. I’m an idol so any crazy fan could have done this.” I notice he is starting to get flustered himself from not really knowing how to answer.

“Sir I understand this is hard. We are talking to everyone in the area. If he is still here then we’ll get him back soon.” He then walks off to talk to other officers.

“Maranda did you see anyone who looked off to you today?” Kat asked me.

“No. Everything was normal.” I say wiping away tears. “He started fussing for his bottle so I set him down in his stroller. I couldn’t find the bottle at first. When I finally did I turned around to get him out and he was gone.”

After four hours there was still no sign of him. The police concluded whoever took him got out of the park before they got the park blocked off. They told us to go home and to call if we got any more information and they would let us know if they had any.

We all sat around the living room in silence. No one knew what to say. I was beating myself over it knowing it was my fault. I started crying again. Kat put her arm around me.
“Hey it’s going to be ok. We’re going to get him back.”

I then hear TOP clear his throat. “Maranda. It isn’t your fault. No one would have thought he would be kidnapped at the park. It could have happened to any of us.”

“Yeah.” GD adds. “We’re gonna find him.”

The phone then starts to ring. Seungri raced over answering it. “Choi residents.” He then gets a shocked look on his face putting the phone on speaker. “I’m sorry could you say that again?” He asks holding the phone out for all of us to hear.

“If Tempo wants his child back. Bring a duffle bag containing $3 million US to the spot he was last seen tomorrow at 10:00 PM. No police, just him. If he doesn’t then he will never see him again.” The phone then disconnects.
