The One I Love

Sure

Haeun was staring in the mirror at herself. She sighed. She was wearing her school uniform. The top was white, along with a white jacket. Her skirt was plain black. She was wearing thigh-length black socks with black converse. She had a brown backpack on. She walked downstairs and ate breakfast with her parents.

“Good morning, my baby,” her mom said.

“Morning,” Haeun said coldly.

“Haeun ah, please try to act nicer,” her mom said.

Haeun sighed.

“Ne,” she said.

“Aigo,” her dad sighed.

Haeun looked at her dad.

“What,” she said bluntly.

“How can you and Hyun-Woo be so different?” he asked.

“Hyun-Woo’s better act acting, and he has green eyes, in case you forgot,” Haeun said.

Her dad nodded and smiled.

“That’s true, he should be an actor,” her dad said proudly.

Haeun rolled her eyes.

“Wae?” her dad asked.

“Nothing.”

“Oh yeah, I don’t think that the principle of the school is part of a pack. You should be safe there. There may or may not be any packs at that school. I couldn’t be certain. I made sure that nothing about our family got to them...well, about the wolf part anyways. Just try to fit in the human society, okay?” her dad asked.

Human society, she repeated those words in her mind.

“Sure,” she sighed.

They all finished eating and Haeun got into the car. The chauffeur drove her to school. It was quiet the whole time. The only noise coming from Haeun’s white headphones. They arrived and he opened the door for her. Haeun stepped out and looked at the school before her. It looked empty, that was because classes had already started. Her eyes flashed to a light-blue color before changing back to dark brown. She was “putting” a picture of the school in her mind, so she wouldn’t get lost later. The chauffeur smiled, his eyes quickly flashed from a dark brown color to hazel back to dark brown.

“I’ll be waiting for you here at the end of the day miss,” said Yong-Hwa (chauffeur).

Haeun sighed.

“Don’t, I want to take a look around this hell hole,” she said.

“Ne, agassi,” Yong-Hwa said. He bowed to her and drove off.

Should I just skip? No, Hyun-Woo would probably kill me if I did.

She sighed again. Hyun-Woo, her older brother, was very into education. He said that you would never succeed if you don’t have an education. She rolled her eyes. She began walking towards the school, in which she would finish the rest of the school year...unless she gets into a fight. She never really gets into fights. She was actually a good student. She onlys gets into fights whenever someone provokes her first.

She found the office fast and walked in. She found a teacher that didn’t look so preoccupied and walked up to her.

“I’m new here,” Haeun said.

The teacher looked up at her and stared at her for a few moments. She was wearing a tan cardigan with big thick black glasses. Her hair was in a messy bun. It looked like she hadn’t been sleeping for days. Haeun waved her transfer papers in front of the teacher’s face. The teacher snapped out of her trance.

“Oh, sorry. You’re just so beautiful,” she said, “prettier than most idols.”

Haeun rolled her eyes.

“I’m getting tired of standing here,” Haeun said.

“Oh, right. Sorry,” she took Haeun’s papers and looked over them. “Wow, your grades are awesome. You’re first in your class?” she asked.

Haeun looked at the teacher’s name tag:

Teacher Kim Jieun

“Yes, Teacher Kim,” Haeun said.

Teacher Kim gasped.

“How did you know my name?” she asked with wide eyes.

Is she serious?

“I think that’s what name tags are for, Teacher Kim Jieun,” Haeun said while she pointed at Teacher Kim’s name tag.

Teacher Kim’s mouth slightly opened in an “o” shaped as she nodded slowly. She scratched her head embarrassed.

“Sorry,” she smiled.

Haeun held out her hand. Teacher Kim smiled and was about to shake it, but then Haeun moved her hand to the side. Teacher Kim looked at her surprised.

“Give me my schedule,” Haeun said.

“O-oh, right. Hold on a sec.”

Teacher Kim went through a few things on her computer and printed something out. She took a single paper off the printer and held it out to her.

“I will be your class teacher,” Teacher Kim said.

Dammit. I should’ve been nicer to her.

Haeun sighed.

“Then why aren’t you at class right now?” Haeun asked.

“Oh, I already told my class the morning announcements. After that I come back here and do some more work. All classes has study hall for the first class,” she said.

Haeun nodded and took the piece of paper.

Guess classes here are different. I shouldn’t be surprised.

Teacher Kim stood up.

“Should I show you to your class?” she smiled.

Haeun forced a smile, but it ended up looking like her mouth was twitching. She stopped trying to smile and looked at Teacher Kim.

“Sure.”
