Being Neighborly
Elevator Meeting.
[FRIDAY] Dani was in her deep sleep when her alarm rang at 8:45AM. She woke up and looked at the clock. It was already late and she had to get up or else she was going to be late for work and her boss would scold her for being late again. She stood up, went to take a quick shower, and put on clothes. She wore a white long sleeve collar shirt tucked into a red high waisted shorts and black tights underneath it. She paired it with her hair straight down and black high heels. As soon as she was done getting ready for work, she speed walk towards the front door with Dyanna asking Dani..
Dyanna (*asks) : you're not going to have breakfast before you go ?
Dani (*says as getting her side bag and sketches near the door) : late for work.
Dyanna : alright, bye !
Dani : bye !
Dani opened and locked the door behind her. As she was walking down the hallway putting the papers in her bag, she heard the elevator door ring. She ran towards as soon as she heard it and went inside of the elevator. There was Max, her next door neighbor. She made it safe inside of the elevator and decided to arrange her papers in her bag neatly. Dani had unsteady hands so she dropped a few of her sketches onto the floor. Max saw and helped Dani pick them up to give it back to her.
Max (*hands Dani her sketches back & says) : your drawings.
Dani (*takes it back with a smile & says) : sketches. thanks Max.
Max (*says with a straight face) : no problem.
As soon as the elevator hit the lobby floor where they wanted it to be, Dani and Max got out. Max had already left to work while Dani was getting a phone call from her boss about something.
Dani (*picks up the phone) : hello?
Boss : Dani, please pick up some coffee for us.
Dani : okay, i’m on it.
Dani hung up the phone and ran to the coffee shop that was a few blocks from her apartment. There was a massive line but luckily Dani knew the people who worked there and used the expressed line towards the front.
Dani (*says as catching her breath) : hey Cece.
Cece (*asks as making coffee for the customers) : what’s up Dani ?
Dani : I'm here to pick up some drinks for the company.
Cece : Riley is almost finished with them.
Cece (*asks) : you mind waiting?
Dani : I'll wait, it's not a problem.
Dani stood there in front of the counter waiting. As she was waiting, she heard a guy that sounded like Max next to her. Dani listened to their conversation.
Cece (*asks Max) : what can i get for you this morning sir ?
Max (*asks) : what would you recommend ?
Cece : it really depends what you're a fan of.
Max (*asks) : what is there ?
Cece (*asks) : how about black coffee ?
Max : No.
Cece : we have our house cappuccino’s.
Max : I’m not feeling that really.
Cece : our hot chocolate is a best seller here.
Max : ummm.......
Dani (*says to Cece) : the classic bear, get him that.
Cece : alright.
Cece (*says to Max) : that’ll be $3.50 please.
Max paid Cece without questioning Cece what that drink is because he was already late for work. Cece went to make his drink in the back and he waited.
Max (*asks Dani) : so are you going to tell me what the classic bear is ?
Dani : it’s the most strongest drink on the menu. it’ll keep your day up no matter what.
Dani : it’s really strong Max.
Max : thanks ?
Dani (*says with a smile) : you're welcome.
Dani : it's not everyday that I see you here.
Max : my coffee machine broke so this is an alternative.
Dani : Oh. you should come here sometime, it has the best coffee in town.
Max : it's just until i get my coffee machine fixed.
Dani : alright. just think about Max.
Riley came out with Dani’s coffee orders. He handed her the two bags of freshly hot made coffee and Dani takes them.
Dani (*asks Riley) : how much do i owe you today ?
Riley : it’s on the house.
Dani (*smiles & says) : Oh, that’s so nice of you guys to do this.
Dani (*asks) : but are you sure ? there's quite a lot of drinks today.
Riley : you buy from us all the time, it’s the least we can do.
Dani : thank you so much guys!
Riley : have a good day Dani!
Dani : you too ! bye guys.
Dani grabbed the bags of drink and took a taxi to work. Cece came out with Max drink and handed it to him.
Max : thanks.
Cece : have a good day sir.
Max : goodbye.
Max took off to work after getting his coffee. He drank his coffee as walking to work. It was really good coffee and he was happy that Dani had ordered it for him (on the inside of course).
