As Blind As Could Be...

Days pass by… Baekhyun stays in his room and only comes out for meals and promotions. He doesn’t speak to anyone or acknowledge anyone. Everyone’s afraid of speaking to him because he only gives you a look or pushes you away. Someone has to always watch him and make sure he doesn’t sneak out of the dorm.

You wake up and check the time. “7:01 am.” You roll out of bed and make a phone call.

Minutes later…

You walk into Baekhyun’s room and see him still sleeping. The others are awake; you informed them that you were taking Baekhyun on a trip.

“Well we aren’t going to make it if he continues to sleep like a sloth.” You scratch your head.

You slap his butt over and over again. “GET UP.”

“Go away.” He moans with his morning voice.

He pulls the covers over his face.

“Ugh your breath smells.” You make a disgusted face. “Did you drink last night? Whatever get up.”

You pull the blankets off of him and onto the floor. He balls up, cold.

“GET UP!” You scream and he shoots up.

He pulls his hair. “What do you want.”

“We’re going on a trip.”

“No.”

“Too bad.” You drag him to the bathroom and force him to wash up.

You pick out his clothes and place it on the sink. He looks at you as he brushes his teeth and rolls his eyes. He takes out his toothbrush.

“What the hell are you doing?” He muffles with bubbly toothpaste in his mouth.

“What does it look like I’m doing?” You give him the same attitude. “We’re skipping breakfast so shut your mouth and get ready.”

He groans and you leave the bathroom.

Finally after 10 minutes or so, Baekhyun came out of the bathroom, ready to go. You leave the dorm and get into one of the 13 cars you have.

“Where are we going? Where are you taking me?” Baekhyun asks.

“Somewhere I always wanted to go.” You reply.

“Great and I’m just a tag along.” Baekhyun groans.

Baekhyun rolls his eyes and puts his headphones on, blasting the music, blocking you out.

“He’s rude and a nuisance.” You smile and drive faster.

You arrive at beach.

“This is where you wanted to go?” Baekhyun sighs. “You really are too innocent.”

“Shut up and follow me.” You pout. “It’s just a stop before we get there.”

You walk in front of him and he purses his lips, following you. You walk along the beach and go in front of a mountain cliff.

“Cliff of Tearless Memories.” Baekhyun reads the sign. “You think taking me here will do anything? Let’s just go to where ever you wanted to go and go home.”

“No. You are going to follow me up this fucking mountain and do as I say or so help me I will run to the car and drive away leaving you here alone.” You make a fist with your hands. “I’m tired of your stupid attitude because I know that’s not you. I watched you for days, hoping your state will be better if you fixed it yourself. Why are we here right now? Because I’m trying to help you and because I love you. I can’t and couldn’t stand to see you acting like this anymore. So shut the hell up and let’s go.”

Baekhyun is hushed by your words and follows you up the mountain cliff.

Once you are at the top, the weather is colder and more windy.

“What now.” Baekhyun asks.

“Go to the edge of the cliff.” You tell him.

“What you going to push me?” Baekhyun smirks. “You could’ve told me that in the first place I would’ve volunteered to go with you.”

“No I’m not going to push you are you insane? Just go.”

He takes out his headphones and phone leaving them on the grass. He walks slowly and stops until he was 3 feet away from the ledge with you following.

“NOW WHAT?” He screams because of the strong, loud wind.

You cup your hands over your mouth to make your voice louder.

“OPEN UP YOUR HANDS, CLOSE YOUR EYES AND LET THE WIND TAKE OVER!” You yell back.

He shakes his head, but follows what you say anyways.

He opens his arms, wide open to be exact. He lifts his head and closes his eyes. The heat of the sun warms him. The wind runs through him, his clothes, his hair, his body. He breathes deeply and slowly… and let’s the wind take over.

He is reminded of Taeyeon. All the dates they’ve gone to together. The happiness they shared. How Taeyeon made him feel things he’s never before. The kisses. The sex. How Taeyeon’s relationship with him reminded him of his parents. How his parents had strong love but were separated by their parents. How their relationship impacted Baekhyun. How President Lee ended it all. How you and the guys in the end were always there for him no matter what consequence.

Tears form in his eyes but are quickly dried by the wind. And eventually… he smiles. He slowly opens his eyes and let’s the sun blind him. He turns back to you, putting his hands down. Your back is facing him and immediately, he loses his smile.

You like him, “let the wind take over”… but your reaction was different.

Your crouched on the floor, covering your ears… reminded of the horrible times with your father. How he murdered your mother, how he injured your brothers and how he… blinded you with a fork. How he’s still out there. How Kyungsoo and Seungsoo suffered the most taking care of you and themselves alone at the orphanage. Your shaking.

Baekhyun comes to you. He makes you stand up and immediately you grab ahold of him, hugging him. Grabbing onto the first thing that approaches you. You squeeze him tight, eye’s closed, face buried in his shoulder.

“It’s okay. I got you.” Baekhyun caresses your hair and kisses it. “I’m sorry for ever acting like I did, especially to you. I’m right here. Don’t be afraid. I’m not him. I’m Byun Baekhyun. I love you.”

A little boy picks up Baekhyun’s phone and takes photos of you two in that embrace. His mother calls for him and he drops the phone, running back to his mother.

“C’mon, let’s go.” Baekhyun says.

“Sorry, I… just… bad memories. I guess that’s why people come here. To remember and get rid of the bad memories.” You tell him.

“Cliff of Tearless Memories.” Baekhyun whispers.

He picks up his belongings and follows you back to the car.

“Where are we going?” Baekhyun asks.

“It’s not far from here. Try to guess. I’m sure you miss it there.” You smile.

“What?” Baekhyun asks.

“It’s a hot day in November. Global Warming!” You say.

You turn up the radio and push a button, making the car have no roof.

10 minutes later, Baekhyun turns off the radio.

“Are we going to where I think we’re going?” Baekhyun asks. “Did you call her this morning?”

“Mmhmm.” You smile. “She’s waiting for us right now. I bet she even prepared a meal for an army just for you.”

You park on the driveway.

“Omo! That must be my Baekhyun!”

“Annyeonghaseyo Halmoni!” Baekhyun smiles and hugs her.

(Halmoni=Grandma)

“How have you been my darling?” She pats his back. “Oh, your all over the news, I hope everything is okay.”

They walk into the house. You smile and follow them in, closing the door behind you.

“Oh and this must be Eunsoo-ah. It’s such a pleasure to meet you after all these years!” She squeezes you tight.

“I’ve always wanted to come here and meet you, Halmoni. Since high school actually, but I’ve never got the chance to unfortunately.” You laugh.

“Well, your here now that’s all that matters.” She puts a hand on your face. “What beautiful eyes you have. I can see the galaxy in them.”

You smile. Baekhyun smiles.

“Come, come! I made you guys lunch!” She laughs. “Good thing you called me early Eunsoo-ah, I wouldn’t have been done if you didn’t.”

You and Baekhyun laugh as you follow her to the dining table. Her house was a traditional, old one, but it was beautiful. The table was old style, low and the seats were cushions placed on top of a blanket. You and Baekhyun sit next to each other while Halmoni sat at the end or edge of the table.




“Wow!” You and Baekhyun say at the same time.

“I made it just for you two.” She smiles.

“It looks and smells so good!” Baekhyun says.

“Wait! Before we eat, let’s take a photo together. I want to remember this moment.” You smile.

“Oh kids these days with technology. (she laughs) Alright, but quickly, I’m hungry.” She says.

You hand Baekhyun your phone and he holds it up. He takes three photos and after, you eat.

“I still have many things to do, would you two mind doing the dishes?” She asks.

Without hesitation, you and Baekhyun go to the sink and start to wash the dishes. You soap them and he rinses.

“Thank you for today.” Baekhyun says. “You’re right, without you I wouldn’t recover that easily.”

“I’m just glad your okay.” You reply.

It was silent for a few seconds.

“You know, back at the cliff… I felt something.” Baekhyun says.

“Which is?” You ask.

“I felt like the wind or cliff or whatever, carried away all of my bad feelings and memories. Before it was all that crossed my mind, even when I blast music with my headphones, those images, thoughts and memories couldn’t stop popping into my head. But now, they don’t bother me at all. It’s weird.”

“It’s good.” You smile. “Your attitude is more you now.”

“Sorry.” Baekhyun mutters. “You even had to suffer for me to change at the cliff. You were trembling. It’s my fault I-”

You drop the plate you were washing with soap. Your hands were all bubbly and soapy. You cover Baekhyun’s face with bubbles.

“Yah!” Baekhyun laughs. “Your asking for it!”

He takes water and splatters it all over you. You follow him and do the same, both laughing really hard. Halmoni pops her head into the kitchen. She smiles and takes Baekhyun’s phone, recording it.

“Yah okay, okay, okay, truce!” You say.

Baekhyun grabs your hands and traps them with his.

“I never agreed to that!” He smiles.

“Yah!” You say.

He pulls you to the sink and traps you, putting his body up against you, making you lean back. He turns the sink water on to warm.

“Cha~ I’m okay everybody, I’m going to teach you how to wash hair with dish soap!” He laughs.

“Yah! Sto-” You say.

Baekhyun tickles you and you laugh really hard and loud. Halmoni laughs along. Baekhyun rinses your hair with water and washes it with dish soap, making your hair all bubbly. He shapes your hair to look like a mohawk.

“Wow, Eunsoo-ah any hair style suits you.” Baekhyun is distracted as he admires his work.

You escaped and put your hair to his face, making him kneel on the floor. You shake you head back and forth and reach his hair, making his hair as soapy as yours.

“There, we’re even.” You smile laying down on the kitchen floor. “Ah, I’m tired.”

“Ah yah!” Baekhyun complains but soon smiles, laying right next to you.

Halmoni laughs really hard and walks out of hiding, filming really close to you and Baekhyun’s face.

“You two are just too cute.” She says and stops the film. “Let me take a picture so you two see how adorable you look.”

You two look at each other, moving your heads. Halmoni being all high tech and what not takes photos without realizing it and before she gives you a cue.

“Ready? (click click click) 1, 2 (click click) three! (click)” She says.

You two smile at the camera.

“You both are a mess. I’ll clean this up while you guys wash up, c’mon hurry.” She orders and you two follow.

After you shower, she brings you into Baekhyun’s room.

“I don’t have any girl clothing for you, but you can just borrow some of Baekhyun’s old clothes he left here.” She smiles. “Don’t worry, Baekhyun isn’t going to come in here ye-”

Baekhyun opens the door, a towel covering his bottom half, showing his 6 pack outline and sees you only wrapped in a towel. Halmoni’s eyes widen and she goes in front of you.

“Yah! Knock first!” She lectures.

“But this is my room…” Baekhyun blinks.

You laugh.

“It’s okay, Halmoni, he’s seen me like this many times. We’ve lived together since high school remember?” You smile.

“...Right. Sorry, anyways, here take these and change.” She hands you clothes.

You to the bathroom, slapping Baekhyun’s “outline” along the way and he squeezes your shoulder.

You change into his clothes. You wear your bra, that fortunately didn’t get wet, only the strings of it. You put his white thick tank top on and black joggers. After that, you put over his sweatshirt that (surprisingly) had his scent stained onto it. You smell the sweatshirt and smile. You tie your hair into a messy bun and head downstairs.

“Your things are drying right now Eunsoo-ah. Baekhyun’s making you two some hot chocolate.” She pats your back.

“Thank you, Halmoni.” You smile.

“No, thank you.” Halmoni grazes your hair, facing right in front of you. “I haven’t seen Baekhyun like this in a long time, years maybe. Even if he said he was happy, I never believed it. But now, I can tell you changed him a lot. You’ve impacted him a lot. And I’m thankful that you bring his childish smile back.”

She kisses your forehead.

“I’m going to nap.” She informs you. “You two will probably be gone by the time I wake up. This is my goodbye. It was such a pleasure to have you over. I hope you and Baekhyun visit often, not just you two, but the entire group. I’ll see you soon.”

You hug her. “Thank you for being the Halmoni I never had. I will make sure to bring all of them here one day.”

She waves to you and heads to her room to sleep. You walk into the kitchen and see Baekhyun there, sipping his hot chocolate. He put your mug right in front of the empty chair across from him. He spots you and smiles, his childish smile. You smile back and sit down.

“I had fun today, Eunsoo-ah.” He says cutely.

“I’m glad you did, Baekhyun.” You reply.

You arrive back at the dorm around 7 pm. The boys ordered pizza, you and Baekhyun had the leftovers.

“Why are you wearing his clothes?” Kyungsoo asks suspicious.

“We went to his grandmother’s house. We both got really wet so she gave me the only clothes that would fit me. Oh well.” You take a bit of the pizza.

Baekhyun converses once again with you and the members. He apologizes and takes comfortably with everyone. He brings laughter and smiles, especially from you.

He’s back. You smile widely.

#3 The video. He cuts to when he washes your hair with soap, announcing how he will wash your hair with dish soap. How he tickles you really hard and your laugh is loud, Halmoni's laugh is louder because she's closer to the phone. It then cuts to when you get free from him and makes him all soapy. It finally cuts to when Halmoni laughs and says, “You two are just too cute” and it’s zoomed into your faces. This video comes before the photo of you and Baekhyun on the floor.
