Grim Reaper

Chapter Eight

~Hana~
Taking a deep breath, I look at the store before me. It didn’t look entirely scary or demon-like, but it creeped me out. Going in, I’m met with a strange mixture of incense before the kid behind the counter asks me if I have an appointment. Part of the head’s instructions was for the boys to wait outside the shop, in case the demon got edgy about registered reapers. I quickly nod, telling the kid my name and he looks me up in the computer. “Please go right in.” He points at a door and I enter. The room I step into is dark, not so dark that I couldn’t see the woman’s face, but dark enough to set a calm, but scary atmosphere. “Your name, dear?” “Jang Hana.” I quickly supply, sitting down in the seat across from her. The woman sat in a chair, a table in front of her and the chair I sat in, directly across from her. “It’s nice to meet you dear. What would you like today? Would you like me to read your future? Past? Who loves you?” I shake my head, looking down at my hands. I was scared of what would happen after I asked her. “Please tell me about myself. The importance of myself.” “Your hand please.” She holds out her own and I tentatively hold it out. She takes it and immediately I’m plummeted into the dark. My eyes were open, but everything around me was dark. Images start flashing and I watch terrified. Some of the images were memories, but most of them were scenes that I didn’t recognize. The woman drops my hand and I’m able to see again. She stares at me with a mixture of fright, sadness and, hope.
“Young lady, my, family, has kept an old story for a very long time. A story of a girl like you. Would you like to hear it?” She doesn’t wait for an answer and continues. “There was once a demon king, those of what you would see in a fairytale. The demon king was powerful, but very very cruel. His people were split into two groups, the rebels and the loyal. The loyals did not discriminate when they caught a rebel, they executed them. Years after the split, the demon king married a human girl for a peace treaty with the humans to placate their hate. At first the king hated the girl, having to have a human in his presence made him think that it degraded himself. He treated the girl poorly, giving her the floor to sleep on and a meager two meals a day of grains. Over time, the floor became a couch, grains turned into pastries. He’d started to love her even if he didn’t want to. Years later, he bore children with the girl that had turned into a woman and his best friend did the same with his human wife.
“The children were half human, half demon, and possessed different powers that amazed even the demon king’s people. But soon that admiration, turned to fear, fear of what those children could do to the demon civilization. The children had feelings that demon’s didn’t possess, minds that thought more intricately. The demons’ turned that fear into anger, attacking humans left and right. The children of the demon king took their powers and used them to protect the humans. Instead of siding with the demons, the demon king helped his children protect the humans. In rage, the demons murdered the king, forcing his children and wife to become slaves. Years later, when the children had married and their children were grown, the demons got a hold of an ancient document that held prophecies that the angels themselves had foreseen. Not caring about the consequences, the demons read the prophecies, gaining the knowledge that they weren’t meant to know. Out of all of the angels’ prophecies, there was only one that truly scared the demons.
“It said that the demons would choose a king that would reign for thousands of years, but there would be one born with the purest of heart and blood. There would be a little girl, just like the queen who was taken from the throne. The girl would have all the powers that had lived within the children. Her soul would be good, yet tainted. The love she gave and received would be the most painful thing she would feel. The little girl would grow and mature, becoming as or even more beautiful than the queen from thousands of years ago. She would defeat the rising demon tribe and take back the rightful throne.”
She stops talking and looks at me. I was trying not to react, but I can feel myself starting to shake. “I have to go now. Thank you for your insight.” I quickly get up and she grabs my wrist, making me sit down. “Why don’t you sit here for a while? I’ve called my friends and they want to meet you.” Something sparks in her eyes and I bolt out of my chair to the door. Her claws sink into my back and I slam my foot into her chest, shoving her away and I fall to the floor. Scrambling to my feet, I start towards the door to the store and something slams into my side. The little kid grins at me as I crash into the glass display cases, the glass shattering. “Hana!” I hear the boys on the other side of the glass. They were pulling at the door, but it was locked. The windows even seemed to be bullet proof or something. I could feel the glass lodging in my back and the kid jumps on top of me, his eyes were red. It was a ghoul. It lunges down to bite my neck and I intercept it with my arm. It bites my forearm, causing me to scream before I unsheathe my scythe, slicing right across his neck. “You’re the special one, aren’t you?” The woman breathes, standing over me. Frantic, I try to think of something, anything to keep her away from me. Light. The word echoes in my mind and it’s blinding. It was blinding, and yet I could see. I could make my way to the door. Unlocking it, I pull it open and there’s a hiss behind me. Jumping to the side, I feel something stab me before the shop explodes. Everything slows down as I’m blown forward. I couldn’t hear anything. I could see Jungkook and Myung Ho running towards me. I see the woman demon sneak out the front of the shop and she smirks at me before disappearing.

xD Yeah, it just kind of happened like that as I was writing. I'm one of those people that improvises while I write and doesn't plan anything out but how it's going to start... \(~.~)/
