A New Me

The girl stood on the edge of the rooftop, singing This Love, and allowing the rain to drench her. It wasn't her fault that she couldn't talk to people, and yet she's bullied nonstop because of it. The multiple bandages on her arms and face were just reminders that she was targeted. At that moment, the boys that just finished their training jogged into the courtyard, collapsing on the ground with exhaustion. The rain pounded down on them, but they didn't mind. Confused, one of the sit up, looking for the source of the music. The second his eyes landed on her, he taps one of the others on the shoulder. They look at him and he asks if his friend had the girl's phone number. The boy quickly sat up and clicked on one of his contacts, impatiently waiting for the person to pickup. The girl stops singing and gingerly answer. "Ya! No matter how depressed you are, don't you date jump from that roof!" The boy yells into the phone.

Himchan
When Jongup tapped my shoulder and asked if I had a girl's number, I knew something was wrong. Jongup didn't pay attention to girls, so when I saw her, I'd almost had a heart attack. Jai, the daughter of my mom's friend was standing on the edge of the roof, head tilted back and she was singing This Love. I've seen her for years, but never heard her speak. She was just too afraid of people she didn't know, so she didn't talk. Pulling out my phone, I quickly call her, barely able to wait for her to answer. She does and I can't help but yell "Ya! No matter how depressed you are, don't you dare jump from that roof!" She doesn't answer, like I knew she would, and I bolt into the school, still talking to her on the phone even though she doesn't answer. Bursting onto the rooftop, I grab her by the waist and fall back onto the hard concrete. I was glad that she was breathing, but realized she wasn't moving. Sitting up, I lay her down on the concrete, examining her. I sigh in relief because she'd just fainted but frown, looking at all the bandages on her. These hadn't been here yesterday. Grabbing her bag, I pick her up and go down to the courtyard, where all the guys are waiting nervously. "Get a cab," I bark and they gesture at the waiting car. Climbing in, I carefully keep Jai in my lap and I pay the fare, quickly carrying her into the emergency room. I watch as nurses put and IV in her arm and a white coat comes over to me. Are you Kim Jai-shi's guardian?" I nod and he smiles. "Thankfully, it was just a small concussion and she should wake up soon. She can be discharged after she finishes her IV. If you have any problems, come get me." I nod and sit on the chair next to Jai's unconscious self. After about ten minutes, I see Jai open her eyes and stand up. "What, never seen anyone wake up before?" She mutters before sitting up. Shocked, I can't say anything. The second she woke up, I knew something wasn't right, but now I was completely scared. Going over to the doctor, I panic. "Woah, woah. Slow down. Slowly." He puts his hands up. "Somethings wrong with her. She normally doesn't talk or interact with people she doesn't know, she's quiet and polite. Now she's completely opposite." The doctor rushes over to her and asks her a few questions, to which she replies normally to. He pulls me aside and says very quietly "There are times when a patient gets a concussion, and the part of their personality that had been hidden deep in her heart, comes out because her brain wants it to. If she sincerely wanted to change herself, her brain answered with this. It might be permanent, it might go away in a day, you just have to wait. I'm sorry, this is all I can tell you." He hurries off and I turn to look at the new Jai. Well first thing, is that I can't let Jai's eomma know about this, so Jai's going to have to move to my house until she's back to to normal. Sighing, I get her discharged and tell her what to act like when she gets here. I'll talk to her tomorrow about moving in with me and eomma. I feel a bit nervous as I drop her off at home.

Jai
Glancing down at the list of traits that Himchan had written down for me to act in front of eomma, I growl, not understanding why I couldn't just be myself. Shaking my head, I take the traits and transform them into a new me. The role of the new me floated in front of me and I capture it, becoming completely immersed in the character as I open the front door. Bowing respectfully to her, I go up to my room quietly, shutting the door carefully. Looking around, I pause, looking in the mirror. Getting a idea, I grab my wallet and phone, leaving.
