Dance Like No One's Watching

2 Years

~Eun Hae~
Opening my eyes, I see eomma standing above me, smiling. Sitting up quickly, I look around and see that I'm in the park by the house. Eomma pulls me to my feet and asks "How has my baby girl been?" With just those words, the walls that had been surrounding my heart crumbled. I told her everything as we walked to the house. Going inside, I call to appa, but no one answers, although I can hear faint talking from the living room. We go in and see appa on the couch with his new wife sitting next to him. "I don't know if we can find the culprit, the car was unregistered." That woman sighs and I feel anger bubbling up in me. I'd definitely seen her face when I blacked out. Eomma pulls me out of the house and says "Let's go walk around for a while. No one can see us." I nod and wonder what she meant by saying that no one could see us. Walking around, I see a few people milling around, most of them were very pale. Looking down at myself, I see that I'm getting paler as I walk. "Agasi, agasi! Please save me! Please help me!" I'm suddenly surrounded by them. I look at eomma and she calls attention to the people. "My daughter needs time, she doesn't know what has happened yet." I pause, looking around and I suddenly realize what had happened. "I-I'm dead, aren't I?" I ask and eomma shakes her head. "Ani. You are very much alive, your soul has just wandered away from your body. These people who have died," She motions at everyone. "Are people that have died and have grudges or are watching their loved ones suffer. They are asking you to help them because you have the choice to go back to your body, or be reborn." I watch all of the people mill around with sad and lost faces. "If I choose to go back, can I help these people?" Eomma nods and smiles. "But how do I get back?" I ask, looking around. "Picture yourself. Your body, what you love, your home. It will send you back to your body." Eomma is smiling sadly and I hug her before calling attention to the people around me. "I promise that I will be like a sun to you. To help you move on and be reborn." I close my eyes and picture myself in my room and I black out with one thought in mind. I'm going to help these people.
Opening my eyes, I feel like a can't breath and look around wildly, wondering where I am. An older version of one of the classmates from school stands up shocked and quickly runs out of the room, coming back with a doctor and nurses. They pull tubes out of my mouth and I'm handed a glass of water. "Who are you?" I ask to the older version of Nani and she smiles sadly. "I'm Nani. I know I look a bit different than last time huh." "Ms. Kim Eun Hae, do you remember what happened?" I nod, confused. "I was walking through the parking garage when a car comes racing up the ramp. I'm hit and I see a person get out, that person was-" I pause, suddenly remembering who it was. "You saw the person? Your father has been looking for them." The doctor leans forward. "I-it was my stepmother." "Is that where you got all those old wounds from? Your stepmother?" He asks a completely unrelated question and I nod. "What day is it? October eighteenth, the day of my accident." The doctor slowly shakes his head. "I'm sorry. It's been two years since your accident, you've been in a coma. You might be able to graduate from your high school if you take the test tomorrow," He sighs and I bolt upright. Appa had lived with me in a coma all this time, with that horrible wretch of a woman? "Can I go to the test tomorrow?" I ask and he nods. "You should be able to after the tests in the morning. But if you want to go home, your father bought an apartment for you and moved all your things there, knowing that you'll probably wake up after a long time." I'm put into a wheelchair and do some tests. The next day, I'm brought to my old high school and Mr. Jung greets me with a relieved smile. "I'm glad you're awake now." "Do you know where the-" "Boys are?" He interrupts me and nods. They've been sending me letters to give to you and I just got one this morning. You can have them after your test." I nod and go into the staff room where most of the teachers from when I came here were crowded around me, watching me answer each of the questions. When I'm done, they all correct their subjects and when the principal checks it, she stares at me with a weird face. "What? Did I get a lot of them wrong?" She shakes shakes her head. "No, you got all of the right." She hands me a diploma that was probably supposed to given to me two years ago. "I guess that's because of me." Nani steps forward. "I would study in her hospital room everyday, reading the homework aloud and how to solve it." I smile and they all allow me to go back to the hospital with a box of letters in my hands. When I'm finally back in my room, I open the box and take out the first bundle of letters from the top. Untying them, I open the first one and start reading.
Dear Eun Hae...
