Give Me A Smile

Another Accident

Bang Yongguk
I'd come out of the bathroom after taking a shower to find Taeyang and Jongup in the kitchen cleaning. "Ya! You took a shower to get the stuff off! Go shower!" I yell at them and they escape to the bathroom. When they finally come out of the bathrooms, Taeyang goes out to go buy junk food and I send Zelo after her to make sure she gets something healthy also. After ten minutes, my phone rings and I pick it up, "Aish, it's bee-" Zelo interrupts me, "Hyung, there's been an accident, bring everyone to the hospital, quickly. Get Taeyang's wallet, hurry!" He hangs up and I yell at everyone to wake up, considering that Zelo's voice hadn't sounded normal. I grab Taeyang's wallet from the dresser and we race out the door.
Zelo
I'd run after Taeyang because Yongguk told me to. I called out to her and she didn't realize until she was halfway across the crosswalk. She stops and looks at me, but shock registers on her face. To me, it seemed like it was in slow motion, when she ran forward and pushed me out of the street and a car hits her. She'd saved me, and got hurt in the process. I quickly call 119 and when I get to the hospital, I call Yongguk, still shaking. He answers all annoyed, but I cut him off. "Hyung, there's been and accident, bring everyone to the hospital, quickly. Get Taeyang's wallet, hurry!" I hang up and they run into the waiting room five minutes later, breathing hard. "What happened?" Himchan asks and I put my head in my hands. "Taeyang pushed me out of the way when a car almost hit me. She got hit instead of me." I could feel myself shaking, and suddenly, I was angry at myself. Angry for not protecting her, for not realizing that a car was coming my way, angry that I'd let this happen. I could feel hot tears dripping down my cheeks and the guys all left me alone, realizing that I needed space. The doctor comes out and I stand up, going up to him. "So?" "She's stable finally." He hands Yongguk a report and turns back to me. "She should be on two weeks of bed rest and isn't allowed to do anything stressful." I nod and we're led to Taeyang's hospital room. The guys left me watching over her, going home to get Taeyang's stuff. I sat down in the chair next to her bed and held onto her hand. They'd given her sedatives, but I knew she could hear me anyways. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry." I whisper and the tears drip down my face again. "It should have been me, I could've made sure that you didn't get hurt." Taeyang's hand suddenly grips mine and I look up at her smiling face. "No, I did this to protect you, don't say that you want it to be you. You can't be sorry, you can only help me recover. Did you know one thing?" She rasps and I give her a glass of water, shaking my head and wiping the tears away. "Nothing can stop me from getting hurt if it's my choice and action." She smiles sadly and I realize that she must have felt this kind of pain before to be so calm after it. What had happened to her in the past to be like this?
