The Concert Ticket

The Concert Ticket - Chapter 1

Reader P.O.V.

I stood outside of the radio station that I won my concert ticket from. About a week ago, I had been "the lucky caller number three" and scored myself an all expense paid vacation to see my favorite KPOP group, SHINee. To tell the truth, I called on a whim, I didn't expect to win and I certainly didn't know what to do once I had. I took a deep breath, and walked into the building. The ceiling was high and the walls were white. The floors were shiny and I could almost see my reflection in the marble. I was greeted warmly by a secretary with a bright smile and a loose bun up at the front desk.

"May I help you with anything?"

"I umm... I was the winner for the ticket to go to Seoul, South Korea... On the all paid expense trip..."

" oh yes! I remember! All I need is a copy of your ID or drivers license, just to make sure you're the right person, and I can take you to get your ticket, and set everything up for you."

"thank you..."

I handed her my ID and drivers license and she went to the back to copy it, and to grab what was needed to set up the trip. She came out of the office in the back with a small stack of papers and started typing on her computer as I answered her questions that seemed to drone on for hours but realistically, probably only a few minutes. I went home with the stack of papers that needed my moms signature and made sure to sign all the papers and retuned them with my moms parent signature the next day.

"okay! You're all set up to go on the trip! Here is your plane ticket, documentation for the hotel, concert ticket, backstage pass, and credit card for necessities. The date for you to leave is...."

she looked at the papers. A small frown crossed her face and her brow furrowed.

"... Tomorrow..."

"wait, what?! I thought it was next week?"

my voice raised a few octaves, and I quickly composed myself.

"I guess not. You get to go to South Korea, for one month, starting tomorrow. I hope you have a great trip!"

she said, her face softening.

"y-yeah... Thanks..."

I walked out of the building and got into my car.

"I was so sure the trip was next week..."

I whispered to myself. I called my mom to tell her that I was leaving tomorrow. She seemed disinterested but said okay, and hung up the phone. I drove in a daze and took the long way home. When I pulled into the driveway, I turned off the car, dragged myself to my bedroom, threw myself on my bed, and just laid there in shock. After a couple minutes, I got up, grabbed my suitcase, and started packing clothes based on what Seoul's weather was supposed to be like for the next month. After indecisively packing and unpacking for about an hour, I was finally content with what I had chosen. I sighed and went to the bathroom to grab anything that I would need that I didn't want to buy such as my brush, my hair straightener, my makeup, and my... Tampons... Just in case... I threw it all in a toiletry bag and tossed it on the top my suitcase. Glancing at the clock, i could see it was just about midnight, and remembered that I had to catch my plane at 8:00am. I got undressed, set my alarm, and laid in my bed, wide awake.
When I woke up the next morning to the annoying sound of my alarm clock, it was warm in my room and my blankets were on the floor at the bottom of the bed. I sat up and looked at my cat who was laying on the pillow next to me. He meowed and went to sit at my door, waiting for me to let him to to eat. I sighed, got out of my bed and started lazily walking to the bathroom to get ready for the flight to Seoul. When I got to the bathroom, I reached for my brush and realized it wasn't there. I silently cursed myself for packing my toiletries the night before. I shuffled back to my room, grabbed the bag with my brush in it, then walked back to the bathroom to get ready. After brushing my hair, brushing my teeth, and putting on clothes, I replaced the items I took out of my bag and grabbed my bags on the walk downstairs. I slowly slid my hand down the oak railing that I wouldn't touch again until next month. I called to say goodbye to my mom who was eating in the kitchen. Tossing my suitcase in the trunk of my car, I called Ashley who would be taking my car home, and made my way down the roads to her house. I pulled up in front of Ashley's house and shot a quick text to her to hurry up. She soon ran out of her front door, frowned at the humidity, and slid into the passenger seat.

"I envy you... But, are you ready to go to South Korea?"

I gave her a strong look of approval.

"Hell yeah I am."

"well then, let's go! What're you waiting for?!"

I started my car, and drove towards the airport. When Ashley and I arrived at the airport, there were many people running around while texting and children trying to run from their parents. There were many people at the help desk. Probably asking about ticket prices or something... But I found the gate were my flight was and waited about 10 more minutes until 8:00. A man was at the gate taking everyones luggage to put it into the cargo holder. I gave him my suitcase and he put it on top of the cart of other suitcases. Ashley and I said our goodbyes to each other, and I got onto the plane. I looked my seat, second class... Somewhere in there. When I found my seat, there was a boy about my age sitting in the outside seat. My seat was next to the window... As much as I love heights... Airplanes scare me senseless... The boy moved so I could get in my seat and he noticed my discomfort being next to the window.

"Would you like my seat? You look a bit scared."

I looked at him questionably. He stared at me blankly, blinking twice before I could formulate a response.

"Can I?"

His face softened and he gave a brief chuckle.

"yes you can."

He got of his seat, I got out too, he went into the window seat, and I went to the outside of the seat.

"Thank you so much."

"Your welcome. By the way, my name is Alex."

"My name is _____."

"so... Are you going to South Korea? I'm going to hang with my brother and his girlfriend."

"I am. I won concert tickets to go see SHINee..."

"the concert in Seoul? I'm going too! How cool is that?"

His face brightened as he went on about his plans and asked me several questions about mine.

"if you um... If you don't have anyone to go to the concert with, I would like it if you joined me. My brother will probably ditch me to go make out with his girlfriend or something,"

I felt a smile make its way across my face,

"r-really? You'd go with me?"

That cute smile of his returned as he said yes.

"if my brother wants to leave though, I won't have any other way home, so I'll have to go with him..."

"oh, that's okay. I have a backstage pass for after the show anyways. Unless you somehow score some in a day, I would have to leave you after the concert."

"oh, okay. I guess it kinda works out then, huh?"

I nodded with a small smile. After a while of talking with Alex, I felt myself dozing off.

"H-hey, are you okay?"

"yeah... Just a bit sleepy I guess..."

"why don't you um... Take a nap or something? We still have a couple more stops, and a few more hours until we get to South Korea."

I nodded my head slowly, leaned back, and fell asleep.

I felt a blanket or something on me, and thought a flight attendant placed a blanket on me while i was sleeping. When I opened my eyes, I realized it wasn't a blanket on me, but the black jacket that Alex was wearing earlier. I also realized that my current pillow was his shoulder... I jolted forward in my chair as I wondered how I got so close to him. I eventually decided that i must have gravitated towards his body heat. He was quite comfortable ... Looking over to Alex, I noticed that he had fallen asleep sometime during the flight. His breathing had evened out to a deep and slow pace and his arms were wrapped tightly around himself. It was really cold in the plane, especially without the aid of a jacket. I looked at the material that was still on my legs, and slowly picked up the jacket. I shifted my gaze to Alex again and smiled at how peaceful he looked. I placed the jacket on Alex slowly as not to wake him, but failed miserably, and tried to situate the jacket before he awoke fully. He blinked a few times, his eyes slowly opening, and gave me a confused, bleary look.

"what...? When did I fall asleep?"

he yawned and stretched as far as his seat allowed him.

"i-I don't know... I woke up a few minutes ago and you were sleeping..."

I felt my cheeks heat up, embarrassed as I thought of the way his chest felt and how his warmth seeped into me when I was laying on him.

"you fell asleep on me..." he continued

"But I'm sure you already know that."

his smirk mired into a soft grin My face got hot when he stated that he already knew. He laughed and ran his hand through his hair. Doing such a thing in front of me... I wanted to burst from holding in my fangirling! He noticed my internal struggle and started laughing, apologizing for making me blush. I glared at him playfully as the plane started landing at the airport in Seoul. I grabbed my purse and waited for the flight attendant to allow us to get off the plane.

Ahahaha! Poor you. I get it now! Also, I experienced something similar at a soccer game. My team had to wear white that day and all I had left was a black bra and in the middle of the first game, it started raining like crazy, but they didnt cancel since it was only a 2 minute shower! But it was enoigh to get me soaked to the bone... :P
