~The next day, Summer’s POV~

Today was it. The day of my teaser release. I prayed several times that no one would recognize me as the girl with Sehun.

I watched as one of the staff members uploaded my teaser. 1%...50%...99%...100%. An idol life would officially begin. I didn’t scream when it finished uploading. Instead, I sank back in a chair.

A few minutes later, Sehun came running up. “Summer! Your teaser has finally released! I must mark this on my calendar: 12 pm 5/11/15--Summer’s teaser release date!”

He paused in his happiness, then asked, “Why don’t you seem excited?”

I sighed. “This is it. I don’t know what will happen next. I don’t know if people will like me, be a fan, or hate me.”

He sat down in the chair next to me and placed his hand on mine. “If anyone hated you, they must have a very damaged brain. Your voice is like pure honey, yet also charismatic. The most beautiful voice I’ve ever heard.”

“If only everyone thought that…” I stared straight ahead. In the corner of my eye, I could see Sehun on his phone. He typed something and scrolled, then showed me the screen.

“Look. It’s not as bad as you thought it would be,” he smiled encouragingly at me.

I took his phone. He was on my teaser video. I scrolled through the comments. There were a few people that recognized me as “the girl with Sehun,” but most of them were positive. Immediately feeling better, I handed back Sehun’s phone.

The other SUGAR members came and congratulated me on the teaser release. None of us had a busy schedule that day, so we decided to go eat lunch together and go shopping to cool off our minds.

We went to a small cafe for lunch. Just as we were about to order food, I heard the teenage girl behind us in line loudly whisper, “Aren’t those two the girls in the new SM teasers for the new group?” The girl’s friend said, “I think so. Do you think we can get autographs?”

As our leader, Hailey paid. We got our food and sat at a table. I saw some people whispering and looking our way. I wasn’t pissed, in fact I was surprised that people would recognize us. I didn’t expect anyone to recognize us in a small cafe.

“Um, excuse me?” a soft female voice behind me said. I turned my head, and the two girls that were behind us in line were there. They were both holding a piece of paper and a pen. They looked about 15 years old. “Aren’t you Summer and Minnie?” I smiled and nodded. “Could we have an autograph?”

I looked at Minnie and we both grinned and agreed. We gave them our signature with a sweet note also. Then Minnie said, “Since you two are the first people to ask us for an autograph, how about a special deal? The other three with us are also members of our group. Would you like an autograph from them as well?”

The two teenager’s eyes gleamed and they both nodded. “Yes please.” Yoomi, Tae, and Hailey each signed their name and Hailey also wrote, “Please support SUGAR for their upcoming debut!”

The two teens happily walked away, and we were equally as excited. “Eeek! Our first fans!” Yoomi squealed.

“I can’t believe anyone would recognize us!” said Tae. “It’s a good sign.”

We put one of our hands in and all whispered, “SUGAR hwaiting!”

A few more people came to greet the us, and we were extremely delighted that people already recognized us.

We walked around the mall, trying on clothes, makeup, looking at cute toys, and just relaxing.

~Minnie’s POV~

I had just bought a new white jacket, and left my shopping bag on a nearby chair. I stood outside the fitting rooms, waiting for the other members who were trying on clothes. I was on my phone, when I heard someone behind me.

I turned around to find a girl holding a cup. She smiled evilly, then dumped the contents of my cup into my shopping bag! She walked off, tossing the empty cup behind her.

I quickly ran to my shopping bag and took out my white jacket. It was pinkish and wet. The girl had poured kool-aid on my jacket! I was still bent over looking at my jacket when I felt a big splash of liquid on my head. It was the kool-aid girl again, and she had just poured another cup of kool-aid on my head.

I turned around and grabbed her wrist. “Stop it. What was all that for?”

She looked slightly angry and retorted, “That’s what you get for being with Kai oppa.” She pulled her wrist away and ran away.

I clenched my fists. Ugh, why couldn’t fans just adjust to us?

I ran out the store to the nearest bathroom, and luckily it was empty. I washed my face and tried rinsing my hair. I used several wet paper towels and dabbed at my jacket, trying to get the stains off, but I only got about 10% off.

Then I locked myself in one of the stalls, not wanting to go out. I sat on the toilet seat and silently cried to myself.

~Summer’s POV~

I walked out the fitting rooms, planning on buying a blue skirt and a blouse. The other SUGAR members were already waiting outside, but someone was missing.

“Where’s Minnie?” I asked them.

“We don’t know, we were just about to ask you the same thing,” said Yoomi. “I called her, but it went straight to voicemail.”

“It’s a big mall; let’s split up and find her,” said Tae. We all agreed. I headed off to the center plaza of the mall, where there was the most people.

I went from table to table, food store to food store, and all the stores near the plaza. After half an hour, we still hadn’t found Minnie. Needing to use the restroom, I took a break.

The door creaked as I stepped in, and it slammed shut. In eery silence, I sighed. Where was Minnie?

Sniff. I turned around, but no one was there. Sniff. The bathroom stalls.

Suddenly, I felt faint. I held onto the counter for support. The vision came back sharply.

Minnie lying on the floor, blood splattered everywhere.

I shook my head. Not now, not now. I straightened up, knocking on the bathroom stall.

“Er,” I began. “Uh, is there anyone here?”

The crying and sniffling immediately stopped.

“Ye-,” she coughed loudly. “Um, yeah.”

“I-is it Minnie?” I asked, a little unsure.

“Yeah, it’s me. Give me a second.”

I nodded. Deciding that Minnie probably wanted some privacy, I stepped outside of the bathroom, contemplating everything that could have happened to Minnie. Did Kai break up with her? OMO, that’s it. I bet he did. Aw, poor girl. Gods, that’s why she is so sad. Well, it’s my duty to calm her. She deserves better.

She came out, flashing a fake smile at me. I could see the pain behind her smile.

“Minnie, I’m so sorry about Kai. You definitely deserve better,” I started.

“Wait, wh-,” she looked at me weirdly.

But I was on a roll. Best friends help best friends right? “I can’t believe he would do that. Anyone would see how great you are, Minnie. If I were you, I wouldn’t be sad. You deserve better, someone less immature.”

She shook her head. “Uh...Summer, Kai didn’t break up with me. I don’t know how that got into your mind, but it’s something else that’s bugging me.”

“Oh...” Heh. Well, whoops. I don’t think I should’ve said those words about Kai...too late. I’ll get him some super light foundation to make it up.

“Well, let’s go.” Minnie looked at me with a bit of annoyance.

“Sure,” I shrugged. “Let’s just stop at the makeup store...I need some foundation.”

Minnie shook her head. “No, please, not today. I’m really tired. Please, can we just go home?”

Well, okay, no present for Kai then. “Okay, I’ll call the rest of the SUGAR members.”

But no matter how many times we called them, the same message rang back at us, replaying over and over again.

You want to reach them? Then you have to get them. And there’s a sacrifice for everything. Learn it the hard way. You think you’re perfect, but you aren’t even close to good. Sacrifice, honey, sacrifice.
