Broken Hearts and Crystal Tears

The next morning, the 10 girls who auditioned were called to the meeting room. Exo and Kim Young-min, the CEO of SM Entertainment were already waiting in the room.

“Yesterday, we discussed for a long time who to form the new group. It was a difficult decision because of the potential that you all showed, but we have narrowed it down to 5 members to create our new group. We’ll let Exo do the honours in announcing the final members,” said Young-min.

The Exo members smiled and the five youngest members of Exo announced the new girl group’s members. Starting from Exo’s happy virus, Chanyeol, he announced in a loud voice, “Welcome to the SM Entertainment company, Lee Min Tae, or Tae.” The girl standing next to Summer whooped in excitement and bowed in front of Exo.

Next, D.O smiled, his lips turning into a heart-shape and he said, “The second member will be the leader, Lee Ha Hyo, or as you like to be called, Hailey.” The girl on the left of Minnie hugged Min Tae and the two started jumping up and down.

“Calm down, this behavior will not be allowed in public once you debut,” Young-min said sternly.

Tao used his aegyo-filled voice, and said, “Welcome, rapper Baek Yoomi!!”

Sehun, the youngest, smirked then shouted, “Jung Min Rin will be the main dancer!!”

Minnie’s jaw dropped, and she shouted in delight and ran in circles around the room. Summer smiled at her, but, inside she was full of worry, as only one more member could be chosen.
Summer took a deep breath and bit her lip, waiting for Young-min to start talking. An excited Minnie was still jumping up and down and Summer sent Minnie a mental message telling her to calm down.

Young-min cleared his throat. “After you are done celebrating, we will continue.”

Minnie awkwardly sat down, but a smile was still pasted on her face. Kai winked at Summer, and Summer’s mouth gaped open, immediately blushing. Summer looked around to see if there was anyone else that Kai could have been winking at but his gaze was settled on her. She blushed again, looking at the ground.

Kai smiled to himself, loss in thought. He felt someone looking at him, and glanced up to see Young-min staring at him. “Kai, did you just hear what I said?” Kai turned crimson and looked around, trying to find the right words to say.

“Uh, uh, Young-min hyung, could you please repeat that?” Young-min grumbled to himself about ignorant young children and repeated what he said in a sarcastic voice. “I said, PLEASE announce the last member of SUGAR.” Kai looked down at the sheet, even though he had already said her name about a million times in his mind.

He looked up with a gleam in his eyes at the eager faces of the remaining 6 auditioners, then looked straight at Summer and said, “Welcome, to SUGAR, Kim Sung Chan!” Summer turned around to look at Minnie and both of them screamed in perfect harmony. Even Young-min and Exo’s manager hyung had to smile at the strength of friendship between Summer and Minnie.
